      Firestick doesn't control with the Infra Red coming from a universal remote. It uses HDMI-CEC. I recently did a video about this very thing. You can check it out here, maybe this will shed some light on it.

      I believe the Fire TV stick works on RF only. This remote is IR only and I don't believe it'll work. I recently did a video on a Phillips remote that has a cradle in the back to store the fire TV remote and the buttons on the Phillips remote will pair with the FireTV remote and you don't need two remotes even though the Fire remote is cradled in the back.

      HI, I think this is the one with the fire stick installed on the back of it. The buttons on the Philips remote actually do not work the fire stick at all, you would control the fire stick with the remote on the back. However, you can engage the HDMI-CEC on your TV and you can use the Phillips remote buttons to control the fire stick.. the navigational arrows, back, pause.. etc. IF you do it that way, you won't need the fire stick remote attached to the back. However, most Roku devices will pick up what type of TV you're using and will allow you to use the Roku remote to control said TV. I haven't tried to use a Roku device on the Fire TV, so I can't answer for sure, but I have a feeling it'll probably work.

  • @ronaldziehm7745
    @ronaldziehm7745 Před 2 lety

    You stated that the directional and select buttons on the front of the remote will control the FireTV Stick, instead of having to flip it over to use the actual FireTV Stick remote control. Bit you don't really elaborate as to how exactly this occurs, because it is clearly not automatic, as my screen just pops up display and channel information because it's programmed to make those buttons control television functions. Yet I can not get it to do this. It seems to me that it isn't actually possible to do this, because as you mentioned the universal remote is IR based, and the FireTV Stick is HDMI-CEC/Bluetooth controlled. If there is a set-up procedure to make it work for the D-pad and select, I would really appreciate it if you could share it. You will certainly gain at least one new subscriber, and I will definitely send the people I interact with online in your channels direction as well.

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  Před 2 lety

      Yes, the two remotes don't actually interact with each other. When you flip over to use the TV side of it, any Fire stick action is controlled by the HDMI-CEC as long as you've got it setup on your TV. I did a video on that last year..

    • @ronaldziehm7745
      @ronaldziehm7745 Před 2 lety

      @@JLPicard440 Yeah, I kind of assumed that to be the case. I have been familiar with HDMI-CEC and how it functions for several years now, because I went through a 5 or 6 year phase when I would only buy Samsung TV's, and DVD/Blue Ray players (yeah yeah I know, I was pretty much paying for a name, that could rarely hold onto a Wi-Fi connection long enough to watch 5 minute skit most days).
      What peaked my curiosity was the fact that you stated at the beginning of the video that the remote would not actually control any of the functions of the FireTv Stick (thus the built in cradle to hold the actual FireTV Stick), but a couple of minutes later, you said that you didn't know how, but the D-pad and SELECT buttons on the Universal Remote were functioning for the FireTv Stick.
      I'm thinking maybe you learned about HDMI-CEC functionality roughly 5 minutes after making this video.

    • @JLPicard440

      HI, I usually leave a link in the description to the codes, if it's not there or it doesn't work its just as simple as googling the codes for a Phillips 4 device Fire TV remote.

    My Vizio tv has no buttons on it,bad design 😳 will it do opposite?, turn on tv ? Not turn off to indicate it’s programmed?... not working ,bummed

    • @JLPicard440

      Yes... it only sends out a power signal... the tv only responds by changing state depending on if it’s on, it’ll turn off and vice versa...

    how do I get it programmed to an amazon fire tv stick

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  Před 6 měsíci

      HI, you don't really program it to a fire stick... If your TV has HDMI-CEC support you can use that to operate the fire stick through the TV and the TV's HDMI port. I did a video on that a while back:

      Very good! If you still have functions that don't work you might try auto code search to see if it comes up with a better code for you. IF you've got a smart tv these remotes usually will work the basic functions though.

    No code for fire tv?

    • @JLPicard440
      @JLPicard440  Před rokem

      HI, there's no code for fire TV. However, many TVs are capable of HDMI-CEC and this will control the Fire TV via that mode. I made a video about this a while back.
