ND Miata VS BRZ - Which Is The Better Daily Driver?

  • Am I selling the Miata already?
    I bought my Miata with the intention of it always being a second car, but things have changed... In a good way, I might add.
    This now leaves me in a scenario where I ideally would like to have one car that does all. Are there better, more practical options out there or is the Miata still the answer?
    Thanks For Watching!

    Brz is for sure the better only car solution but this being the twilight generation for ICE NA sportscars i cant help but think the Miata is the more special car and a surefire future classic.

    BRZ is the better daily driver. I just sold my RF GT Mazda and loved the car. Just no room at all. My new BRZ TS is the better daily driver. Room to move and store stuff.

    I have the BRZ, but I like the looks of the Miata a little more. I'm guessing they're both fun to drive.
    I can fit two folding kayaks and gear in the BRZ. Myself plus two small adults when needed.

    You should consider the GR86 versus the BRZ. The suspension on the GR86 is a bit different than the BRZ's so it ends up a bit stiffer - it would be somewhere between the Miata and BRZ as far as ride comfort.
    And yeah, I didn't like the extra engine sound in my first-gen (2016) BRZ so I removed the sound generator pipe and plugged the holes in the engine intake and cabin. That's the only mod I've done.

    • @xanderj1492

      Only an issue on tracks with long sweeping right handers. Only in high end 70k+ have baffled oil sumps. Even the only 6 GR86’s & 2 BRZ have lost an engine. Subaru has given 0 issues replacing under warranty. Toyota not so smooth to get it under warranty. Look how many Hyundai N cars who pop their engines…

      I bought a 22 GR86 Premium for 32K and a 23 MX-5 Club for 36.5K. The Miata came with BBS wheels, Brembos, Bilsteins, Recaros, and aero kit. So in my mind the MX-5 was better bang for the buck by far.

    Bruh fake exhaust noises that’s so lame but I’m sure it’s easy to turn off hopefully and the Miata seats for a long time leave a lot to be desired especially with lumbar support but as always the Miata is never a practical car but that’s why I love it 😻 brz are dope but I prefer Mazdas driving experience like you said I’ve heard the acceleration isn’t as exciting in the brz and that the gear box in the older version were a bit iffy

    I’ve owned the 22 GR86 Premium and now 23 MX-5 Club. The GR86 has worse clutch, throttle, and shifter. The GR86 has better steering. The Miata rides much better for the streets. I’ve only test driven the BRZ but it was similar to the GR86.

  • @hardrider55
    @hardrider55 Před měsícem +2

    Pricing wise your comparison is flawed, the ND starts at 28K USD add the RF, Brembo and body trim yes you get to 50K, I am not sure about the various packages with the BRZ, but as stated your sons sounds like its bare bones compared to your ND which is dressed for the prom.
    I like the look of the RF, but the rag top is the only way to go...... BRZ doesn't offer that option

  • @salami99
    @salami99 Před 2 měsíci +1

    Both are great remove the brz storage space and the soft top on the miata and the miata has better engine sound, less weight, the 86 has great out of box sliding ability and leas body roll and more sporting

  • @deniscdyck
    @deniscdyck Před 2 měsíci +1

    The clutch is heavy? One of the biggest complains about the gen 2 BRZ is the clutch being too light and people end up replacing the clutch spring. I am heavily considering replacing the spring in my 23 BRZ. I can only imagine how light the Miata's clutch must be. I am 6'3" 220lbs, and never even test drove a Miata as it is pointless for someone my size.

    • @spartanV48
      @spartanV48 Před 2 měsíci +3

      I owned the GR86 and currently own a Miata. It's not that the GR86/BRZ clutch was too light, it's that the bite point was too vague. I changed the clutch spring on the GR86. Miata is light, but never had issues with the bite point

    • @bearclaw5115
      @bearclaw5115 Před 2 měsíci

      I'm 6'3" and 250lbs and I test drove the ND. Less room than NC. I technically fit but I think I might tire of it if I owned it. Feels like the shifter is too close (rearward) and I have to have my arm scooched back. Claustrophobic, but when the top comes down all is right with the world!
      I think I'm going with a BRZ for the daily livability and the fun is right there whenever you want it.

      @@spartanV48you’re right. I had a 22 GR6 Premium and now 23 MX-5 Club. I managed to stall the 86 a couple times and have never had that issue with the Miata. Also the Miata had way better throttle response for rev matching.
