Tony I do enjoy the luxury of taking my Zero on weekend or three day hikes. Anything longer I leave it at home and suffer.
I think it's nice occasionally as we get older 😅
The flat base is smart, saves the poles sinking into the ground or having to bring out little balls like Paul with the big agnus or whatever the current hot thing is called.
Little balls red ones too or orange lot yes that is a clever design the square base plus it has a back.
I use the Helinox Chair Zero and it works a treat with my Duomid when I open the door and loop the bottom of the door peg loop to a fully extended guyed-out trekking pole to create a v spacious sunshade/awning/rain protection so you can be 'outside' whilst still being 'inside'. I've yet to rig up my tarp over that set up to create a HUGE covered porch for sitting and cooking, yet its still light enough to carry around and wildcamp with. You could probably invite a few fellow campers around to join you for a bit of a shindig!

Well done getting out of it without flailing or as in my case rolling over on your side! Had one of these for years, thought they were long discontinued. Comfortable and stable as can be ... while you're sitting in it. But getting up gracefully is not for any one of us with grey hair or a bit of a belly
Sounds right turning into an old fart lol 😆 it was definitely tricky getting out but didn't fall flat on face 😅
You can half the weight of that chair and save a lot of money by using a Thermarest Trekker Chair and its a lot less bulk too Tony. You can use the Trekker chair without your sleeping mat too, Its a tip i gave Dave at Solo summiteer and i gifted him one too because i had the smaller size for a while and then bought the larger Xtherm mat which needed the larger Trekker chair..Theres a nack to using it without the sleeping matt (i use my small size sit mat with it ) but its comfortable and insulated and doesn't raise your height inside your chosen shelter. I slide mine in my pole bag with my poles if i am taking a tent that uses poles or just slip it under my tension straps on my pack if i am using a pole tent...I am not really into taking unnecessary bits of kit but in the winter months its nice to sit up for a while instead of being in the horizontal for 14/15 hours.
Problem with those chairs is that you can only use them when you've set up camp and you need to baby them in fear of blowing your mattress. Personally I prefer to bring one of these roll up decathlon chairs which is basically a bit of foam with some straps attached to it. Works great and nothing will break it. Then when I go to sleep I just toss it on my air mat for extra insulation. Although now I think about it I wonder if it's possible to just shove a foam mat inside one of those thermarest chairs instead of an air mat?

This lower kind of chair is a much better option for hiking imo. Really nice to be able to sit in the tent. On the other hand I myself prefer to take it a step further. I much prefer my crazy creek style chair (mines a decathlon variant at 600g), which is just basically some foam and straps. I can literally use this while tucked up in my sleeping bag in the tent as it won't damage the tent floor. It's so damn nice I'll never go back. Yes, you aren't completely off the ground, but it doesn't bother me. I find them much more comfy than a helinox chair as you can really recline yourself in them and stretch out the legs. It's a great feeling after a long walk. Bonus is that you can flatten the chair and use it as extra insulation under/over your sleeping mat!

Well to be fair if they all doing it why not nab attention its in this instance pretty Milk and no fake crap going on I've seen videos where things are added post production. Also it's not that difficult to get I'm out ok not easy and probably easier for the younger of us not us fat old unfit 50 pluses but I'm what 177cm 5'8" I used it successfully ok borrowed it successfully for cooking inside my Duomix plate return for cooking Tony style 😀 and having a laugh at life see you again 😀
Just wondering whether a) I’d risk the floor of my tent with one of these on it, and b) whether my solo tents (95cm max height) would have enough head room for me sitting in one? The chair doesn’t sit you bolt upright so it might just fit if my head was positioned in the middle of the tent, maybe. I also wonder how comfy it is in cold weather when normally I’m inside my sleeping bag from when I pitch my tent. 🤔
I'd be putting foam mat under feet and couple folds of it to be safe and not make huge habit of it but with care should be ok
95cm would be ok for ground chair but only just

I’ve got one of these and I think it’s great, because it’s so comfy; I can sit and cook comfortably inside the tent; and it’s very light and has a tiny pack size. I use it when I’m cycle touring or car camping. By the way I really enjoy your videos..love how you don’t take yourself too seriously and your infectious laughter .. oh and Lassie, of course.
