  • Just when you thought the 600cc supersport segment was dead, Honda has resurrected its CBR600RR and treated it to a whole heap of changes. These help the bike comply with modern emissions regulations while also making it easier to get on with. But is it still relevant in 2024? We rode one of Portugal's sublime Portimão circuits to find out!

Very excited for this bike - not only for the bike itself but for what it represents for the 600cc machines; it's a shame to see this class fading.

The 600 class has always been "fading" since 700 and 1000 became more available and better. The only saving grace is that its a really good balance between performance and eco.

I think the class should turn into 750 class. I mean ktm makes the Duke 990 nowadays which is also a middle weight.. 190 kilos, 3 kilos lighter than this 600. P/weight ratio superior but i think thr fairings and gearing from the zx6 and the cbr6 will outrun it in once it's past 120 kmh

I would like to send an email to whomever at Honda, is in charge of the North American market.
I want to shake some sense into him.
Seriously, why is this bike not going to be available to us ???
(It only gives me a "small" comfort that I won't be able to buy one here - because if I was able to buy one, the LACK of a Fuel Gauge would drive me nuts).
Maybe Honda will come to their senses - for 2025, and do 2 things:
    1. ADD a Fuel GAUGE to that fancy TFT display
    2. Sell this bike in North America (you have a LOT of customers just waiting on edge for this thing !!!)

Picked up a 2007 gsxr600 for my first street bike. It was easily my second choice vs the 2007-9 cbr600r's i was looking at, but times didnt line up with any of the sellers and I for weeks. Very very pleased with my second choice, but still yearning for that CBR styling and excitement.. After watching a few videos i think im gonna wait on picking up a second bike, put a few more thousand on the Suzuki, and once my WRX sells im going straight for a 24/25 cbr600rr.. Still the only new sub 1000cc bike to get me excited as hell just looking at it.

Its extremly beautiful no one doubts that! Comparing to the old ones (i have riden a lot from friends) i dont think that its a lot upgraded.
It has some torque in the middle but all in all the only differences are the fairings/headlight/ramair/exhaust and the electronics which i dont think that are needed (dispite the shifter-blipper).
in conclusion, its the same motorcycle as it was for the last 20 years. Honda has gone way high on Fireblade, but not on this one. Its very good that they still encyst on i4 600cc sport bikes. SuperSport's cant be nothing less than i4. Would i buy it? Hell yeah, with no regret!😍 my 2 cents (as a Suzuki fan). 🙂

The Suzuki 600s and 750s were terrific machines. It's a shame, but also understandable, that Suzuki has phased them out in favour of more sensible machines like the 8s and 8r.

    • @usernameEvanT
      @usernameEvanT Před měsícem +1

@@gsm_liv8980 Suzuki's GSXR 600 and 750 are a category of their own. Way better than the competition. I have a wrecked K8 600, which someday i will rebuilt it and keep it mint for all my life. IMHO Suzuki should have kept one "small" i4 supersport (600 or 750) as Honda, Kawasaki and Yamaha did. Its obvious that Suzuki is going it's own way and not "keeping" with others. They know way better than us and it seems like its working very good. ❤🙂

I'd imagine this 600 will be just like the 600s we used to ride - fast as fck and exhilarating when you're on the boil, but uncomfortable and frustrating any other time. This exactly why torquey middleweights like your bike took over. 70mph on a proper sportsbike feels like walking. On my old zx6r I needed 90mph just to take some weight off my wrists on a long ride😅

Counterpoint: supersports such as this are two bikes in one. Below 10K, they are basically a nice easy to handle twin. But if you want to go fast (or do track days), they scream above 10K. I've always enjoyed this fact about 600s, as they keep me out of trouble on the road. Way too tempting to go way too fast if I have all the grunt down low like with a superbike.
