- Gardens by the Bay at Singapore Marina South is known for its botanical and floral display but unknown to most is that it also has 120 species of birds recorded there.
This is a short overview of the different varieties that can be found at the different sectors within the vast garden grounds.
This is an updated (Apr 21) version to correct some errors in the original post.
This is the most accessible and easy to walk around birding place!
Thank you James. That was a great introduction to the gardens
Thank you for such a lovely and informative video, we will be Singapore at the beginning and end of October this year. Looking forward to seeing and photographing some of the beautiful birds.
Thank you. My wife and I very much enjoyed our stay at Marina Bay Sands and found the birding so rewarding. The ruddy-breasted crake was a real treat to see.
Beautiful video and narration. Thanks for sharing.
This is fantastic. I am glad I have found this :)
Great video James. I passed through Singapore last week and did a little birding in the gardens. The humidity was a bit much and I hadn’t come prepared but I still managed to see some. I wish I had seen your video first 😅
Thank you, James, for your informative and beautifully presented videos on birding! Keep it up. So glad I chanced upon your channel!

Because of your presentations and infectious enthusiasm, we are coming to Singapore in September! We just can’t wait, all those beautiful birds to see. Best wishes to you.
Thanks james! You've helped me get into birding, and now you're still making it easier for me to find birding spots!
great stuff - thanks .(at 3.04 - 3.09, I can hear a koel in the background).
Thank you for making this amazing video. I am planning to visit Singapore for 5 days in May and cannot wait to bird all over the city, but especially in the gardens. This will be my first time visiting (from Canada), so I am very excited to see so many new species. It's also nice to know there is a volunteer group doing bird surveys at the gardens.
very informative and fabulous bird photos. The best birding guide ever!
Glad you think so!

although I used to bird there but I never thought there were many species of birds there. But after watching this video it has changed my mind about this place. Thanks for sharing this video and it will definitely be my reference when I visit there again.
Fantastic video James. I hope to visit this park one day.
You should!
The White-bellied Sea-eagle @7:10 might actually be a Brahminy Kite?
Nice video - thanks. what times of the day do you recommend for bird photography? i live in Phuket now (Singapore was home for 20years) and i have lots of wetlands around me and fortunately my home backs onto a nice green treed/wetland area. Am just getting into birding... I see lots of the birds seen in Gardens by the Bay from my balcony which is really cool.. and 2 common mynahs have adopted my balcony as their territory - very cute.
Good, thanks, like, su
Thank you very much James. When is the best time to take birds photography at Gardens by the Bay?
The kingfisher veri greedy!
Hi James, I planned to the garden by bay during Easter holiday this year, is it a chance to see migrant birds there?
By Easter, it will be the tail end of the migration season but you may still get a few stragglers though the number of migrants will be very low especially if you are only going to a particular spot. Good luck.
@@JamesTann thank you james
Hi James, can I found kingfisher here…. What’s ur instagrame
Yes, Kingfishers are found at Gardens by the Bay, including the migrant Common Kingfisher that will turn up at the Lotus Pond.
