Carpentry can be tricky sometimes so let SAWSET show you how to get those precise angles, which are very important for tight fitting joints and a perfect fit! The SAWSET PRO Protractor gives you the accurate cutting angle for your miter saw, using any sliding T-bevel, with no math needed. So, perfect cuts, no waste, less time...win, win!
Your Miter Saw is designed with 2 adjustable angle settings. One at the back, which enables you to tilt/lean the blade, which gives you the bevel. The other is on the front of the saw, parallel to the saw table, to adjust for the miter setting. These settings done correctly will will give you that satisfying perfect fit!
The miter saw cuts at a fraction of a degree, so why not have an angle finder that can do the same? This tool is the perfect companion for your miter saw. If you own a miter saw, you NEED a SAWSET!
SAWSET PRO allows you to easily find the miter saw setting for all trimming, including crown molding, base boards and wainscoting. Also use for stairs, hand railings, spindles, hardwood flooring, decking, fencing, etc. And it makes an excellent tool in your wood shop too.
SAWSET PRO and your Sliding T Bevel are the perfect tools for the perfect job!

Great tutorial but how would you tie the skirt at the top of the stairs or if you have a landing?
Need to see a picture to say.
Caulk and paint make a carpenter what he aint.Need to make things fit...Take your time ,intersecting points is another option.
Agree.
Hello we our have difficult to cutting 7.5 “ crown molding try any angles it’s 45 but when we cut it’s not coming out the e d side well it’s no joints if you able give us the tips we watch lots off crown molding video this is also not flat crown
You most likely have the Crown molding in the wrong location.
Slide the 2 moldings at the same time up or down the wall.
Test this method with 2 short pieces, then you will understand what I'm saying.
We have 2 other video on installing crown molding.
Is your new tool also made from steel, my sawset is the easiest and most accurate I always carry in my truck
It's made of durable ABS plastic. Check it out on Sawset.ca
@@SawsetTools I'm a firm believer in your product and will purchase it
I have an oak staircase and the carpenter butted the treads up against the drywall, therefore, I have no skirtboard. In all your experience, what can I do to dress out the area from the treads upward? The treads have a bullnose, so it would be almost impossible to retrofit a tread there. What would look good? THUMBS UP!!!
You could install trimming as if there is a stringer, or there are videos that show how to build a skirt board.
@@SawsetTools Is it advisable to cut out the drywall where the skirtboard could be in its place? A thin oak skirtboard, as thin as wallboard, cut to fit, and perhaps a decorative quarterround strip where the new shirtboard hits the wallboard on that angle?
@@lostinmyspace4910 Sorry, never done it before. Do not want to mislead.
Woodglut has a lot of plans to choose from.
Not clear. What are you trying to communicate?
bruh that caulk job hurt to watch
Thanks?
A “pro” would find the angle of the rake of the staircase and automatically know all their subsequent miters and angle cuts. 😉
Like your play list.
@@SawsetTools why does everyone say that?
@@jeffpower6473 It's able to find a fraction of a degree for accuracy.
@@SawsetTools I get it, but I’ve been a stair builder for 10+ years. When I realized one day early in my career that After I set the rake of my skirt board and from there automatically knew all my miter cuts it was an eye opener. It made things much faster, because I didn’t have to fiddle with an angle gauge. I however still use an angle gauge from time to time, it has its uses for sure.
@@jeffpower6473 Can you recommend a video for " setting a rake"?
I couldn't find one.
One can use a transition blocks when mixing 2 different profiles. And sometimes, like in your case, one can use the top part of the baseboard only to go around and over the stringer. This way one can miter the base with the stair moulding correctly. Butting trim like you did looks terrible. They are two separate trim details butted together. A pro would never do what you did, I'm sorry.
There are many ways to trim. Thanks for your input.
