It was still a bumpy video, My clutch cable broke on the way home. At each stop sign I had to pop her into neutral and get a running start to pop into first gear without stalling. Made it home. Wow, that was some ride. Still have the ride on a DVD. Makes me want to go out and start her up. No legal plates or insurance or inspection now. I stopped riding cause too many near accidents from morons on phones. Ah, but the memories I have ! Thanks for this. The sound !!!!! Awesome !!!!!!

    • @dogfeathers5646
      @dogfeathers5646 Před 9 měsíci +1

      I have owned a ‘67 and ‘68 Bonnie and a ‘70 Daytona, and must agree their styling was the best of the best of all Triumph’s of any year. But I also owned a ‘76 and ‘77 OIF Tigers and not only did they handle just as good but I will always prefer disc brakes, a 5 speed over a 4 speed and shifting on the left. I own several bikes and do not care to mix up shifting or braking with the older controls. Not sure why OIF models are so maligned as ‘75 and later were excellent bikes and that includes, handling, power and dependability. This era of Meridan Triumphs are 50 years old and plenty of crappy mechanics have left them with poor servicing and plenty of abuse so you need to pick well and bring them back to stock condition. Want to get your foot in the door cheaper than the outrageous prices ‘70 models bring? Post ‘75 models are your ticket to ride a great bike.

      I bought a fully restored '70 TR6R two years ago for $9,000, same spring gold color as the one in this video. It's a gorgeous bike, brand new wiring harness from England, tank and fender paint from Hutchinson, powder coated black parts, triple chrome plating, etc. I think that's very reasonable, especially compared to the price of vintage cars.

    Great video. These bikes work well on back roads. I had two of these. Both ‘72 650 Tigers. One was a 5 speed and one was 4 speed. The 5 speed felt sportier and quicker.
    I had the 5spd Triumph when I was 17! Great bikes for the back roads like in the video. The reach for the indicator switch is awkward. What is in between the grip and the switch?
    The 5spd seemed a little quicker than this bike or it might need a tube. Good riding demonstrated here. The throttle modulation is excellent into the 4th gear fast last hander. The lift into the 2cnd gear left is pretty abrupt. My bike could get loose like that. I’m tempted now to get another one of these!

On this trip he got out of gas and he had to hitchhike to the next fuel station. After that the original smiths had been stolen. One year later, back in London he bought these smiths. They are exactly the same model, except the looking of the face.
