    Really good video. Please keep making them (until you've covered all of the heroes ...). Usual moan: it's taken a long time for LSS to decide |(understand) that they need to curate the learn-to-play (L2P) experience for new players. Feels as though this is completely aligned with the news (according to Tall Timmy) that they're putting a casual-player dev team in place. The FaB website needs to be a one-stop shop for new players: want to learn how to play ANY hero? Here you go. If the L2P experience is completely outsourced to the community (as it has been) then it's inevitably fragmented. For a complete noob, the game is already dauntingly complex (when thinking about teaching/learning, experienced players need to do something really difficult: put themselves in the position of a player with no experience whatsoever). Which brings me to the real strength of this video (i.e. please keep doing it): the cutaways. You can learn by reading rules but it's inefficient; you can learn by watching gameplay but you often won't understand what's going on. The cutaways where the gameplay gets explained are the best way of teaching: narrated gameplay. This could be pushed a little further in some places. For example, at the start of a video, you could show, say, three examples of the hero's ability being used before you get into the gameplay. (I know you can rewind the video but it's good to see the same thing done in slightly different circumstances.) Similarly, after the gameplay you could go back to more complicated mechanics/card interactions and break these down. I know you can't teach everything, and I know that you have to assume that viewers understand the basic mechanics of FaB - but there's a lot of space to fill between these two extremes. Anyway, like I said: really good video.

  • @clonerstive

    Quick rules Q: (i know it doesn't matter in THIS match but) at 16:39 since this is a non-attack action, the combat chain closes, correct? And the second swing of dawnblade is the first link of a new combat chain.
    Do I understand that correct? 🤔

    • @fabiandemeter7284
      @fabiandemeter7284 Před rokem

      Correct! Any non-attack actions break the combat chain automatically, which matter a lot for some heroes. Slice and Dice does get around this by looking only for your first and second attacks on your Turn, instead of on the combat chain.

    New to FaB; does the card "Quicken- generic Token" stay off to the side (not in your deck). Until you can "create" it

    • @fabiandemeter7284
      @fabiandemeter7284 Před rokem

      Yes! All tokens are usually kept to the side until generated, though you can also have them face down in your second weapon slot for comfort (like bravo did here with his seismic surges tokens that weren't shown off)

    I don't quite understand "Battleworn." He defends with Refraction Bolters which have 1 toughness, but it gets a -1 counter. Wouldn't that put it at 0 and remove them?

    • @Chris3015
      @Chris3015 Před rokem +1

      There are some equips that have 0 block value, but they don't get removed. The Refraction Bolters stay on the field and the effect still can be used.
      There is the keyword "Blade Break" and after blocking with that the equip gets destroyed (Ironrot Helm for example)

    • @ValariaxSword
      @ValariaxSword Před rokem

      Yeah, there are a few different keyword abilities on equipment. Battleworn means they can stay on the field even after blocking, Temper means once all its block is used up and you get enough -1 counters to drop it to 0 then it gets destroyed and Blade Break means the equipment is destroyed right after blocking with it.

      Defense reactions can be played from anywhere - if the attack as dominate, it can only be defended by one card from hand.
