Also more dash need to copy thinkware energy saving mode plus come with low bit-rate recording for parking mode my 900xplus only has motion & time lapse and I'm not fan of time lapse

    @blackboxmycar, is there some device (or combination of devices) that can be used to add cloud capabilities? I am really happy with all of my current VIOFO cameras that I have purchased through y’all, but I would really like to have the remote viewing and a few other features like auto-upload now that I have kids driving my vehicles.
    Keep up the great work and informative videos! 👍🏻

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Glad you liked the video! Yes, something like this is technically possible, however it does require a lot of work with third party tools and coding. A great place to start is this: dashcamtalk.com/forum/threads/reverse-engineering-web-api-live-feed-etc.21057/
      It will likely be easier and more reliable to invest in a dedicated cloud model, such as BlackVue models.

    Do you guys only put cams that you sell or your list? I was hoping to see a review of vantrue e3 but am surprised you didn't mention it anywhere despite very positive feedback from people who already use it.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Thanks for the feedback! We do mainly focus on carrying the best systems, so it is somewhat natural that those are the ones we recommend. Vantrue is a prominent brand in the dash cam space, with the Vantrue E3 specifically having a solid core build using a supercapacitor and Sony image sensors. Still, there's been a lot of innovations in the 3-channel camera space, and other models with a more unique perspective.

    I would most definitely like to see a 4k Box version with LTE/GPS built into it, so that we don't need to buy and then wire up separate modules. What would be even better is a 4k, dual Sony ATARVIS 2 processor set up with 5 camera set up so we can add/record 2 side mount cameras. I mean, they have all that room in the separate mounting box. Oh, and add in the larger battery for extended parking mode. What are we talking, $1,000 to $1,200 for this set up?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Thanks for the feedback! The 1080p DR770X Box is still a recent addition, but if it's popular enough, there's potential for a 4k model, similar to what BlackVue just did with their LTE models. As for the battery packs, our current batteries have 25% larger capacity than previous models, and the battery industry is always making them better and better! Your estimate price range would be in the right ballpark, yes.

      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Tough to say since the 70mai Omni 360 is so new and different from other cameras. Still, the A139 Pro will have better resolution with it's Sony STARVIS 2 image sensor.

    Please help. Hi. If you don’t mind me asking. How would one go an plug the a139pro to the power cell 8 battery? So we have parking mode available? Do I have to hardwire the camera to the fuse tab and hard wire the power 8 battery separately? Or I need to purchase an special cable from black box my car? Thank you for your help in advance
    I’ve bought the battery from Amazon but I saw no specific cable for my a139pro. Please help thank you

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Totally understandable question! Battery pack connections can get a bit complicated at times. We have a whole video answering this here: czcams.com/video/GIwnTvy1r2k/video.html
      In short, you'll need a spliced output cable for the VIOFO A139 Pro, which is the hardwire kit for the camera, connected with an unspliced output cable for the battery.
      Let me know if unclear.

    I'm thinking of getting a dash camera for my car with the parking feature. So far, the VIOFO A139A 2CH is the best one in image quality I've seen in the market, comparing it to the BlackVue DR970X 2 CH, which was my first choice. I don't know if the VIOFO has a good parking recording function. Also, I can't find it in Australia, so I have to order it online. If I want to install it in Australia, is there any problem because of the location? Also, is there any other suitable camera with good image quality and a push notification using parking mode?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před 10 měsíci

      Hey there, you would be correct, the A139 would be a good option as it has great image quality with it's new image sensor the Sony STARVIS 2. I'd also recommend taking a look at the Thinkware U3000, as this camera is built for high-heat environments, will last longer in parking mode as it's more energy efficient, and it has push notifications through the cloud if needed. The A139 will not have the cloud, or push notifications, though I don't expect any issues with installing the unit in Australia.

    • @chefgav1
      @chefgav1 Před 10 měsíci

      @@blackboxmycar except in Australia the 139 pro 2 channel is 1/3 the cost of U3000 and 139 pro is 1/2 the cost of 970x and the 970x is 40% cheaper than the U3000. U3000 has priced themselves out of the Australian market imo

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      A tropical island would be rather hot!! Viofos traditionally hold up very well in heat, though other models like say the Thinkware Q1000 and U1000 are more built with high heat specifically in mind.

    Okay so if I were to install a mobile hotspot in my car that powered by a CellLinkNeo Battery pack, would the Q1000 and its Connected App give me notifications on my cellphone if a parking impact is detected, and allow me to view the camera live from inside my office at work?
    Or does Remote live view only let you tap in and view the camera while it's in recording mode (driving)?

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Great question! For all intents and purposes, yes this is precisely how it works, as if you do have an active mobile hotspot in the vehicle, the camera can stay connected through the connected app when parked. If an impact is detected while parked, the camera can send you a notification of this to your phone. With this, you can review the incident in-question remotely, and view the camera live while you are away from it!
      The only part I'd change here is the Cellink Neo battery, as this battery does not have a USB port to connect a mobile hotspot. I'd instead recommend the PowerCell 8 or B-130 battery packs that do have this!

  • @jmackinjersey1
    @jmackinjersey1 Před rokem +3

    Great video, as always.
    So I may have mentioned in another video that I am in the market for a dashcam to put into my wife's car, that our daughter is driving. I am looking for a 3 channel, with remote/live viewing (cloud/LTE) 4k would be nice, but not a necessity. I would also like to have GPS tracking/info.
    I do prefer one that does NOT have a screen. They are distracting, and if something were to happen, there are legal reasons. I am also looking for one to put into my pick up truck.
    I do like the smaller cameras, so I am looking at the Blackvue DR770 Box, with the remotely located/stored/secured recording device and the smaller cameras. We have a lot of car break ins and I often have a lot of tools in my truck for work. But I don't leave them in my truck overnight, even though it is parked in my driveway. Another option would be to have a 3channel with a separate interior camera, so that I can tuck them away and out of sight, as I like to have a clean set-up/installation and less clutter.
    I've seen the video you did on the Thinkware U1000, but I don't remember if that is a 2 or 3 channel unit. Their cloud service seems to be one of the better ones out there.
    Anyway, thanks in advance for the recommendations.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před rokem

      Glad you liked the video! From the sounds of things, BlackVue would be a great choice,, they have the most advanced version of the cloud. If you would like that 4k, the DR970X-2CH LTE would be a great choice, with the ability to put a SIM card directly into the camera. Alternatively, if you want 3-channels and don't mind a 1080p front camera, the DR770X Box is a great choice as well.
      The U1000 is 2-Channel camera.

    hello a question disturbs me on the rear camera of the u3000! where is the rear radar sensor because on my pickup my window is completely vertical which forces me to completely tilt the objective of the lens to view the rear it seems that the radar sensor is on the side of the lens would require me to put an adjustable support to be able to adjust the inclination

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před 9 měsíci

      Hi there! The Radar sensor for the rear camera is on the side of the U3000 rear camera, and is the reason it is so wide. The lens can be rotated as needed for a vertical rear windshield, and the radar should still work fine, though it may be best to double check with Thinkware directly on that one.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Yes, there is an OBD cable for Thinkware systems, which has been around for a good few years now. It's only recently that it's been put into the limelight with the release of the U3000, which comes with an included OBD cable instead of a hardwire kit. As the U3000 was not released at the time of this review, we didn't give too much time to the OBD.

      3-CH would be ideal for ridesharing. The all-new A229 Pro 3-CH would be my choice for ridesharing as it supports the latest tech at a budget price. Alternatively if you are worried about a wider range of situations like altercations out the drive window, the VIOFO T130's rotatable interior camera is quite handy.

    Hi, I have a stupid question. Probably the answer is a blunt "NO", but here it goes:
    Is there some kind of adapter that would make it possible to expand the storage capacity of a dash cam? I imagine it like some SD adapter that connects to an SSD enclosure, with maybe a board that can manage the files and their total size. Thanks.

    • @blackboxmycar
      @blackboxmycar  Před 8 měsíci

      Hey there. I'm not aware of the option to directly connect an SSD to a dash cam, but there are a few options to extend storage. The main one is the most obvious, which is purchasing a larger SD card, most cameras can take a max of 512GB - 256GB. Beyond that, you could look into cloud offloading methods, where footage is offloaded from the camera over wifi. While most built-in cloud cameras only use the cloud for specific footage storage, there are user-made programs to offload data like this, here is a relatively popular one: github.com/steve192/dashcam-transporter

    Thinkware even worst
    Nextbase has no customer service and just a stupid robot since the very first day now more than a week.

      Hi there, I can help find a camera.
      We here are not too big of fans for the Ring carcam, given it's suboptimal viewing angle, resolution, and mandatory subscription.
      As for a recommendation, I would firmly recommend BlackVue. BlackVue is in a bit of hot water very recently given their complete overhaul and redesign of the BlackVue app, but the large majority of issues have been resolved already.
      BlackVue is the ideal brand for advanced, remote connectivity features, and has all 3 features you've mentioned, that being remote live-view, two-way communication, and push notifications. For high image quality, you'll be looking at the DR970X-2CH.

    I will never buy any Viofo products again. I purchased A129 pro duo from this seller years ago. I did hardwiring correctly but from few days later it caused too much trouble to record video. The seller sent me replacement front camera but same problems again. I had no choice just remove hardwire and use regular cable and the parking mode is gone. And video quality is not so great. I updated firmware every time when Viofo released new firmware. The newest firmware last December makes things worse. Total video image is very dark even in very bright daylight situation. And night time video image is one of the worst. Too much noise. You can not read the license plate numbers and traffic signal light looks funny. The very first my old Viofo A119 makes whole lot clear night video footage. Thank you Sony Starvis sensor! But I have no choice now just use it because I installed rear camera on the tinted surface. Now way to remove safely. I do not blame this seller. It's manufacture's fault.

    Long comment in coming maybe. I'm shocked the u1000 is still here & forgot how big it is kinda shows how good it is but it doesn't make sense why thinkware didn't add it to their new connect app. Blackvue's new 3 channel is smart but it having no GPS is odd how will it handle the heat plus if someone has another battery pack in the glove box? The downside after the latest update on their app it's annoying to use the last design wasn't this annoying whoever green lite the new layout needs to get retrain. The fact the finevue has the best app is not good especially for a dashcam that don't have a screen the app should be perfect cause it's the only way to really use the dashcam it shouldn't be hard

      Thanks for the feedback as always Cap! It is a slight shame that the U1000 doesn't have the software to be compatible with the Thinkware connected, though we fully expect further Thinkware iterations to be compatible. As for the DR770X Box, I believe the GPS is not built-in as the main unit would be difficult to get a signal from when it's so hidden away. As the GPS is included, it can be wired to the top of the windshield where the reception is better. The BlackVue app changes are definitely a spot of bother for many, though BlackVue's recent updates have taken big strides in bringing it back to grace.

      Hi there, for actively live-streaming while you drive? I'm sorry, but there aren't options for something like that. Still, we can try and get closer to what you are looking for than a basic camera. A great starting point is the A139 Pro.
      This unit can have a front and interior camera, ideal for streaming, has top-tier image quality with new image sensors, and the IR of the interior camera will automatically turn on and off as needed, so you can record standard daytime footage with proper coloration, and still have infra-red for nighttime recording. Beyond that, the A139 Pro is our only model with the option of connecting an external mic, as the internal mic in most of these units aren't as high-end as would be needed for streaming. Regardless, livestreaming from any of these models wouldn't be too feasible, and you'd need to pull the footage at a later time.

We also handle replacements and so on as needed.
      As for the software, they did recently update it, so they are in the process of refining the new system.

    Over $300 & only cover gear you sell 👎

      Thanks for the feedback! We do mainly focus on carrying the best systems, so it is somewhat natural that those are the ones we recommend. As for over $300, we do definitely take budget into account, and did touch on some more economic models in this video. If you are looking for a model under $300, then the VIOFO T130 or A229 Duo would be great options. While we did mainly focus on the best of the best in this video, if you are willing to compromise on resolution and features, there are definitely models out there that would be in that affordable ballpark from other brands, such as the Thinkware F200 Pro, or BlackVue DR590X.

    They are all basically the same, pretty poor. Got a gopro. End of.

      We aren't fans of using a GoPro as a dash cam. For more context on why, check out Vortex Radar's excellent video on the subject: czcams.com/video/SowUTOrhzOg/video.html

    Unreliable recommendation. Terrible list Thinkware for example is terrible image quality. This must be a commercially sponsored list.

      Thank you for the feedback. Sorry to hear you feel that way, we stand by Thinkware's resolution, as they do use top-tier image sensors.
