    I've watched 4 of these different videos so far and your is by far the best one of them all. I really had my doubts when it came to taking the push pin out of the cylinder. It looked to me like "yeah right" that will work. But I was wrong, very wrong. I didn't have my screwdriver exactly in the same place as you I had mine down just a bit and used mostly the cylinder itself. But the pushing and taping and it poped right out. Nice job,

    Hey thank you for the great vid! Started to get a sticky tumbler, knew it'd be no fun but better now while I was at home w tools. TIP: set pin didn't budge, no matter the tapping etc. Drilled the hole up to the end of it so I could see what I was doing, then drilled the pin a little with a tiny drill bit- once bit jammed in the pin it pulled out very easily. Also didn't fall/go missing

    This is really helpful. I just got stuck in a small town with the same problem, and I'm trying to avoid it in the future. quick question for you: at about 2:40 you mentioned that you had to drill a hole to remove a roll pin. how would you have solved that problem when you were stuck at the chiro? is there another way to remove the roll pin if I'm stuck without a drill?

    • @tradingland4water827
      @tradingland4water827  Před 2 lety

      I had experienced the problem a week prior while at home with all my tools available to me. Without being able to drill a hole I'm not 100% how it could come out 🤷🏼‍♂️. I know I had to buy a drill and a bunch of other tools one time from a parts store to fix my RV stuck on the side of the highway! Was a whole lot cheaper than the tow bill would have been 💰💰💰

    Nice detailed video for a PITA problem. Did you try any graphite or lubricant before disassembling the cylinder? It seems like that one tumbler wasn't bent or damaged so why do you think it seized up? I've seen lots of people experiencing the same issue. I'm guessing maybe people in dusty or dirty environments might have a higher probability of having this happening.

    • @tradingland4water827

  • @RR1976
    @RR1976 Před 2 lety

    I wonder because I had tried spraying some WD-40 in there cuz I did not know what the problem was but I think that doing that has prevented me from being able to get this release pin to vibrate-out like you were able to.

    • @tradingland4water827
      @tradingland4water827  Před 2 lety

      Yeah, WD40 is a great lubricant initially. After a while it attracts dust and turns into a glue like paste‼️ I use PB Blaster instead. Maybe try a very small/micro flat head screwdriver between the pin and housing while thumping on it. Don't be afraid to whack it pretty good too. You won't hurt it 🤣

    • @RR1976
      @RR1976 Před 2 lety

      @@tradingland4water827 WD-40 is what I had in the Element with me at the time. You are of course correct in its description.
      I found that the pin had in fact worked itself most of the way out but was definitely hung up on something. Fortunately I found a paper clip that I unfolded and it perfectly fit inside the pin. I used a pair of pliers to wiggle it hard while manipulating the key barrel assembly, and the pin came out with the paperclip wire in it preventing it from it just dropping out and getting lost.
      I then followed the rest of your instructions with great results.
      Thanks!

    • @edpewalkee
      @edpewalkee Před 3 lety +2

      I wasn't able to get it out by tapping on it. Not sure if it was because it was locked or just because it was a stubborn rolling pin. I did however take the mounting bracket off the top of the column and the who ignition switch comes off and I took it to my work bench, drilled a little hole next to the rolling pin and pried it out really easy. Then took all the wafers but one out of the tumbler and it works fine now. Give it a good google search I'm sure you can find the how to I used for the whole mounting bracket-hole drill process

    • @tradingland4water827
      @tradingland4water827  Před 2 lety +1

      Honestly, persistence is key. That and not a lot of pressure prying. The first time I had to do it (second half of video) it didn't pop right out. It wiggled down just enough I was able to grab it with a pair of needle nosed vice grips and pull it out. Was not easy the first time. I wish you the best of luck‼️ 🤞
