I’m a new Lvn in California. I work LTC am shift for $32hr. Best believe I’m working hard for that pay. I’ve only been working 2 weeks with 5 days of orientation. Your telling the truth. I had to go to the DON to make the nurse managers help and answer questions. I have 27 patients. These patients will call State if you put out a bandage wrong!! I see nurses cutting corners and just putting any vitals down. If I’m off I’ll come back to work my Patients bp is bottom out because these heffas won’t take the blood pressure and just giving them meds with out checking. Please guard your license and ask questions. It’s rough. But your right Am shift is not for the weak. I pass meds not stop from 7 am to 3pm. I clock out for lunch and still work. I’m getting my experience and running in 6 months or less 🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️🏃🏾‍♀️. By the way make sure you treat your CNA’S great. There your life line

Great tips, I'm a CNA for over 17 years these tips are all true. LTC is a surprisingly challenging sector of nursing, I've seen CCRN's some down for overtime to pass meds and in 45 minutes they're in tears, completely overwhelmed. It's hard work, I left an became a janitor for NYS and I make more than experienced LPN's and don't leave work grinding my teeth to powder! Blessings and good fortune to all of you out there still doing the hard work! The way LTC is structured needs to change, for those who work there and especially for the residents.

Gosh Muriel, you are so right I wasn't prepared for the catty females. I was shocked at the kind of drama that went down with CNA's, LPN's and RN's and even the Med Techs were crucial. Once upon a time I had to break up a fist fight between two CNA's.

Everything you said is the absolute truth. I live in Columbia SC, I am RN and started in Oncology/Medical Surgical with 31 dollars with 5 shift differential. I left currently with DMH for the State working with veterans. Listen the residents is not the problem. It’s the freaking staff. First shifts staff is ridiculous, staff covering staff when count is off. CNA’s telling RN’s what they are not going to do.

Wow! The hospital still paying peanuts as bad as they need people smh. LTC is a challenge but I promise it does get easier when you give it a chance. But it's gonna seem so difficult those first few weeks
