    Hello, my name is Lauren, and my nursing background is CNA to LPN ! All my experience is in long term care. Additionally, worked at the same Nursing home for 11 years. I moved on to subacute. I’m currently in nursing school for my associates degree. I’m set to graduate in August 2023.

    🤣 it made me laugh when you said make sure to look at their chest if they're going up and down. hahaha. lol there are time it takes me forever to wake up an old person, and then i said sorry cos when finally awake they get startled

    Very informative! I only lasted 2 months in a SNF. Unfortunately, I could not handle the stress. 30 patients on a shift anything could happen. 1 little mishap could put you behind hours.

      I can feel you. I have been a LTC nurse for 8 years with 41 patients. Stress is high and one patient fall can put me behind (lotsa documentation!)

      I feel this, I unfortunately couldn’t last 3 months in a SNF as a brand new LVN 😭 I was working full time day shifts and it was too much for me. I was doing my best but I felt like I was drowning. I just got hired at an assisted living facility so we’ll see how I do there, crossing my fingers 🥹🙏

    Sorry you have to do all that before you start your day. In my facility the overnight nurse do all that and I am thankfull for that.

    Thank you for the video!! It was very informative I lasted 2 weeks at an LTC then quit but I’m trying it again at a different facility and start my first shift tomorrow I’m nervous but gonna stay positive! Your content was really helpful.

    It was beneficial for a new LPN, like myself. Just seeing how someone else sets up their rounds. I have only worked a few shifts and i have to improve my timing. Thank. I couldn't always hear you but other then that itwas helpful. Thanks, Again.

    Thank you for this video. I start my first job as an LVN with a LTC facility. I am nervous because I’m not sure what my day will look like but it helps to see your setup and morning routine.

      oh okay so theres not that many more options for us in nursing as LPNs, so I’m glad you didn’t quit. You didn’t do all that schooling to quit.lol It takes a long time to get the hang of it, and figure out how to get it done. what the dept of health wants is very different from what we as nurses are ACTUALLY able to do, so please keep that in mind, but its important to keep in mind what they require. It’s a sad state nurses are in but to me its worth it, because it is such a rewarding career.

      @@Nurse4Life255 yes, I have picked up 1 shift and it was a hot mess. I wasn’t fully prepared for the work flow or what to expect. I have another shift today 3-11, and I feel like your video will help me formulate a plan for a smoother shift. Thank you !

    I think the vid was very beneficial, thank you. I know you cannot show a lot and it's not worth getting in trouble over but it's helpful to see how you prepared and everything. I'm an RN who has always worked in the hospital, I wanted to know more about nursing in long term care. I'll check out your other videos. 😊

      I sign paperwork on Monday. I left the ICU to go to LTC. They told me it's 18 residents on rehab hall or I could work long term hall with 35 to 40 residents with a med aid. I don't know how I feel about that yet. 😮 Anywho, I think I will like it once I get a routine down.

    Super helpful! I've only worked inpatient but applied for a nursing home job and am trying to figure out how the flow is different. Being responsible for 30 patients kinda blows my mind right now lol

    Love ur content !question though .. so if in the middle of ur med pass there was an emergency u had to treat the rest of ur med pass would be given late right ? So u would chart the reason why youre giving it late ?

    do you check the Vital signs of all patients before coming with cart of meds? i mean how do you do it? vitals signs first? then meds then treatments? or you do everything the patient before going into another patient?

      At my new job in rehab n ltc CNAs did all vitals first thing. It was awesome

      In long term care you only take vitals before the med pass on pple who are sick so they can get their assessment in early. Then as I go I get my vitals on patients with blood pressure and pulse parameters as I get to their med pass. It’s easier n accurate to time of administration I don’t delegate parameter vitals.
      At my job we had covid forms that had to be done for every single patient so those vitals would be done after breakfast at some point. Hope this helped

      I have a video on rounds. I’ll link it. Doing your rounds means checking on every single one of your patients to make sure you know where they are, if they’re OK,and if they are breathing.

      omg, that’s a tough question. to get a routine down n be exposed to enough I’d say 6 months.
