  • An incredible thing happened in the Czech Republic! Giant butterflies came to Prague yesterday and sat on the walls of a shopping center. We are urgently traveling to the place on our walking tour to document this incident

The Legion Bridge is the seventh bridge in Prague on Vltava. It stands on the site of the original chain bridge named after Emperor Francis I. It joins Shooter's Island and the Lesser Quarter. On the initiative of the entrepreneur Vojtěch Lanna, it was built between 1898 and 1901 by the architect and engineer Anthony Balšánek and Jiri Soukup. In 1901, it was opened in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I, after whom it carried its first name. After World War I, it was given today's name - the Legion Bridge. During World War II, the occupation was renamed again after Bedřich Smetana. In 1960, the Velvet Revolution was called the First of May Bridge. The bridge was built in the architectural style of neo-Art Nouveau.

Národní, formerly Národní třída, is one of the important avenues in Prague, Czech Republic. It is placed on the boundary of New Town and Old Town, in the southwest direction from the city's center. This avenue connects the Legion Bridge bridge with Jungmannovo náměstí. In medieval times, there were fortification walls. On Friday, 17 November 1989, riot police violently suppressed a peaceful student demonstration, which is thought of as the initiation of the Velvet Revolution. Národní třída continued to be an eventful locale during the rest of the revolution.

The Head of Franz Kafka (Hlava Franze Kafky), also known as the Statue of Kafka, is an outdoor sculpture by David Černý depicting Bohemian German-language writer Franz Kafka, installed outside the Quadrio shopping center in Prague, Czech Republic. The kinetic sculpture is 11 meters tall and made of 42 rotating panels. Each layer is mechanized and rotates individually.

Hi Vladimir! We love, love the butterflies on Maj department store. Otherwise ordinary building came to life with two colorful butterflies. I am looking forward to see them lit up when I come to Prague in September🦋

Thanks a lot for the video! I was introduced with David's creativity in 2006. It seems that he has been creating his landmarks for ages! In any case it changes the city and makes it more amazing and unique!❤🔥🖐

Exactly. Spitfires. It is a kind of remembering of Czech pilots who fought in British RAF in WWII.

    I see trees of green
    Red roses too
    I see them bloom
    For me and you
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    I see skies of blue
    And clouds of white
    The bright blessed day
    The dark sacred night
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    The colors of the rainbow
    So pretty in the sky
    Are also on the faces
    Of people going by
    I see friends shaking hands
    Saying, "How do you do?"
    They're really saying
    I love you
    I hear babies cry
    I watch them grow
    They'll learn much more
    Than I'll ever know
    And I think to myself
    What a wonderful world
    Yes, I think to myself
    What a wonderful world

Like I just wrote! We can argue all we want about David Černý talent, but all his works have become landmarks, and we can't argue with that.✋😊❤️

There was so much controversy about whether to allow those butterflies to be erected but they are kind of sweet on an otherwise humdrum building. I like them much more than some of the David Cerny sculptures on buildings, particularly those in Karlin. Thanks, Vladimir!

This is truly the power of, albeit modern, but still art: completely unexpectedly, an inappropriate primitive white wall turned into an excellent backdrop for colorful butterflies

As an aviation enthusiast, it saddens me vintage Spitfires used in this way; yes there's an interesting aspect to the creativity, and the colors are beautiful. but...😢
Great walk and video Vladimir 🙂

Yeah, and David Černy himself is weird, too, but fun. Let's see what happens next ✋❤️😊

    • @mareksykora779
      @mareksykora779 Před 21 dnem +1

Yes. But these Spitfires are not here as a symbol of British creativity but a symbol of the brave Czech pilots who fought with these planes in British RAF during WWII Battle of Britain which finally lead to the freedom and peace - butterflies.

Instead of these planes sitting in storage or a field, now millions of people will see them and look up what they represent.
