A sighted cis person asked me, a sighted trans person, whether bling trans people exist. This demonstrates a huge lack if understanding of whst dysphoria is and what trans people experience, but it also made me realize I don't know of any blind trans authors or youtubers so I thought I'd seek out some perspectives from people with those experiences.
Anyway congrats on your transition and thanks for speaking about it!

It's definitely a question I've been asked and agreed that it shows a lack of understanding. Thanks for seeking out perspectives on this.

Great video! I really enjoyed watching this as I have a few blind trans friends and some of the things you talk about here are quite similar to what they have said. I loved your nephew stories, he sounds like an absolute gem. I won't swear here but you can insert expletive of choice about the Student Loans Company who don't seem to learn their lessons! If I can help with SLC in terms of arse-kicking, you know where I am!

Oh god can you imagine if I have to fight them again? They really are useless.

@@connorscottgardner Depressing isn't it!? The compo would have to be a lot higher as this would be a second time... I'd be making noises about the next level up. If they weren't utter numpties they'd pay you off pre-legally, but we know they are actually that numptyish... And it's huge stress... Rather than them, serving the disabled people with basic respect that they provide a service to.

@@natalyadell5099 Well I decided to just go with it and send them printed stuff. It's a huge pain in the arse but at least I now know the route to the post office lol. I just did not have the energy for a fight.

@@connorscottgardner Well done for managing the task including the discriminatory stupid. Not picking the fight is 100% valid cos none of us can pick every fight cos there's too many. Hopefully you'll get the right shaped DSA support and the PhD will go well from the start!

I actually have a question for you that I don't think has been asked. Ok, so, like, as a blind trans person, if you meet someone new, and you can't see them, and to you, that person might sound like a dude, but they actually identify as a woman, then is it embarrassing or awkward for you to misgender someone, even if it is an accident? Cuz, I'm blind too, and I've had this experience before, where I meet someone, but the voice makes them sound different to what they might identify as. For you, when you were barely starting t, was this an issue for you, and did you ever correct people? Was it uncomfortable? And do these experiences, even if they are maybe not meant to be malicious, do they still hurt? sorry for all the questions.
