A common Trope we see in the first person genre is that of the exploding barrel.. You know the type.. The unmistakable cylindrical design, the red or orange colaration or glowing module and the muscle memory that causes you to fire at it whenever enemies are near.Last week you all voted and the Fusion Coil came out on top so for this week’s mini-evolution (name still a work in progress) we will be taking a look at Halo’s popular exploding barrels.. @@tiddybagel hate to be that guy but git gud. It’s not like you can’t grapple outta the way, or send it back with the repulsor, or dodge with the thrusters. I mean seriously I can count on 1 hand the number of times I’ve died to thrown fusion coils
I was completely unaware of any fusion coils in Halo 5. Jesus, that art design was so different, that even gameplay elements were lost.

Great vid man, halo's fusion coils are one of halo's most interesting objects that don't get alot of attention.
I have a non-specific recommendation that might fit in your mini evolution series. You've covered characters, items, but what about game mechanics?
For example, Fire. It's appeared in nearly every game, but only Combat Evolved, 3, and the Halo Wars games capitalize on that, while it's just a prop elsewhere. Or how EMP effects exist in 3, was made an environmental hazard in 2: Anniversary, and evolved very specifically in Infinite. And then there are energy shields on their own merits.
That's very much a rough generalization of examples, and unlike the others with information in lore, you might want to get information from the game engine's code and modding tools for interesting specifics and data, but it might be a good source of potential videos now that you've done the two main small objects that reoccur through Halo.

I never knew there were forerunner fusion coils on Halo 5 till now... I think that says a lot about how bad they were designed
An evolution video on ammo pick ups from the halo games would be awesome, like the ammo types and pick ups from CE and ODST and reach, and perhaps looking at all the types of weapon racks or storage seen like the weapon pods and racks
I never thought id relate more to a coil then I do with the covenant fusion coil.
Considering marines had changed in nearly every halo game I’m excited to see you do a video on them soon
I really hope they bring back coil-flying in campaign, that was some of the most fun I had after playing the campaign grew stale. Really wanted to play with them in co-op, but who knows when that will actually launch

Man, this takes me back. I remember my first times playing with the new forge mode in Halo 3, and how obsessed I was with making the biggest, most ridiculous explosions possible with the fusion coils, fuel tanks, plasma batteries, and forerunner power cores. Eventually I graduated to making buildings… with the sole intent of rigging them with the aforementioned coils to explode. Thus began a fruitful forge career c:

I really love the Halo 5 versions of the fusion coils, especially the Forerunner ones. The UNSC one has a heavy industrial look, and the frosted windows on the tube are very nice. The Forerunner one is a gorgeous piece of design, it’s so weird and alien looking, I wish 343 kept that design philosophy for all of H4/5’s Forerunner architecture.

I COMPLETELY forgot that the fusion coils were in Halo 5. This video was a really neat refresher. If the Halo 5 coil was more animated, I'd love it as much as Halo Reach's.
The forerunner ones blended in too much into the environment imho.

i would love to see the evolution of some of halo’s vehicles- playable or unplayable. i think the pelican especially has a good history to share.
Infinite definitely has the best version of the fusion coils and how you can pick them up and lob them at enemies is just awesome. Being able to grab them with the grapple shot is a cool touch as well or repulser them towards your enemies

What’s neat is that the Halo 2A forerunner fusion coil looks like an Closed and Opened version of itself in the Campaign and Multiplayer respectively.

Halo 3 fusion coil is my favorite simply because of explosion effects and what seems like more powerful in comparison to any other halo game as well. Imagine the devastating things you could do with those if you could pick them up and throw them.

Evolution of ammo crates/caches next
My favorite is Infinite’s coils, you can yeet them around, hold them in a car, and put them in the razorback! Before, you could push them off of a ledge or into a man cannon to send them across the map with a chance to kill some unlucky player, or you could get creative and make land mines for fast moving ground vehicles. Though the previous coils made you use your brain to make traps or ambushes, now you can just throw a coil at the nearest Spartan’s face, funny, yet simple to pull off.
Halo 5’s fusion coil’s Were the downfall, while Halo infinite’s Fusion coils was a return to form! I don’t care about the shows fusion coils, but the fusion coils will always be an iconic thing in halo!🙂

How about the evolution of the Man Cannon/Gravity Lift? I would say that's a pretty integral part of Halo and a very recognizable asset, even if it has many flavors to it, both in physical models and the particle effects they emit. For me the sound of Halo 3 and Reach's...men cannons? are a very nostalgic and, dare I say, ICONIC, sound effect on par with the Plasma Pistol overcharge.

I actually had no idea Halo 5 even had fusion coils. I played through the campaign twice and got to around rank SR 140 and never saw them.
