My favorite detail is if you collect all 30 audio logs before you meet virgil the rookie will do the superintendents chime while whistling instead of dare blocking him

The "Hitchhikers might be escaped convicts" line is referring to the cop that tags along with you. He's corrupt and turns on the player if you get all the audio logs.
Does that mean he's the police officer who is in the audio logs since one or two of the logs have a police officer.

Did you know that Virgil will blare the police car sirens and regular car alarms to alert the player of a nearby audio log?
And when collected, obviously the alarms will turn off

Some of these details are different in certian versions like the orignal 360 American version had a poster saying something like destiny showing a object very similar to the traveler right next to earth while MCC changed it to the for her poster.
343 changed it to For her to not advertise destiny... just feels like they felt salty about bungie leaving, can confirm this is true as I have the OG ODST loaded on my Xbox 360
@@Firefrab It's not so much that. For the MCC, almost everything if not definitely everything Bungie related was removed. For copyright reasons. Like the Marathon symbol for example. And they removed the Destiny poster just in case to not cause issue.
The Destiny poster was also in the European versions of ODST for the 360.

I vividly remember seeing the destiny poster in a room in ODST on the MCC. I even pointed it out and got the story behind it cause my friends play destiny
Fun fact: in Halo Combat Evolved, Jackals have a complete set of animations for using the needler, including reload animations, despite never using them. These can be seen by giving Jackals Needlers in the Halo Editing Kit

13:56 On the Xbox 360 version of ODST, if you skip that opening cutscene entirely, Romeo starts off with a full magazine, as technically he hadn't fired his rifle. I don't believe this works anymore on the MCC version, however.
16:31 Virgil's warning is also a nod to the fact that the cop you encounter in the Data Hive is taking part in some shady business; I.E he tags along (hitchhikes) and was involved in criminal activity, most prominently murder (escaped convict)
I assume you know this but if you collect all the audio logs before encountering him and you escort him all the way he'll open up a room and if you follow him you'll see him walk up to a dead person
He then says you've learned too much and shoots you in the fucking face
That officer was sent by Kinsler to confirm that Sadie's father died when his laboratory froze. Since Virgil refused to allow the cop through, the cop wasn't able to reach the laboratory and was nearly killed, being saved at the last minute by the Rookie. The cop was also unaware of the fact that Kinsler had died several hours earlier, as he presumably lost contact with everyone. When the cop learns that the Rookie plans to keep going down, you can tell that the cop is disgruntled, as he's aware that it'll complicate his plans if another human is nearby. Ironically, his orders to confirm the death of Sadie's father didn't even matter at that point, as he was the only officer alive in the city.

@@Allen667sjja not gravity but the tension in the cables. When they snap a certain amount of force would send the upper parts away from the break.
@@osiris_the_great6861 Basically, what holds up the space elevator is inertia. It's like when you swing a bucket of water in a circle, it wants to pull away from you. The elevator is so high up that the rotation of the earth causes its inertia to pull it away from the planet.
@osiris_the_great6861 A space elevator is held up by centrifugal force on the cable itself and a large counterweight at the top of the elevator. If you cut the cable near the ground, it's the same as swinging a ball on a rope above your head, then letting go of the rope. The ball will go flying away from you, and similarly the elevator will fly off into space, and the cable will appear to rise up into the sky and disappear.

Fun fact: The Brute chieftain here actually has a name: Bracktanus. He was first mentioned by name in 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘏𝘢𝘭𝘰 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘦 (a booklet included in Halo 2's limited collectors edition). A Cannon Fodder revealed that this same Brute was responsible for killing the Elites you see sprawled about in the game.
I love these details, they really made new Mombasa seem alive… or at least formerly alive, like you stumbled across it’s dying corpse but still… and the monkey cutscene with buck 🤣👌
14:01 Bucks assault rifle is also missing the same amount of ammo as well when you swap weapons with him at the start.
3:38 This Easter Egg was changed from the OG ODST from the 360. Originally, it said "Destiny Awaits" and was a bit different visually. The poster foreshadowed Bungie's next game after Halo was over, Destiny, and it was completely remade for ODST's release as DLC content for the MCC in 2015. It was changed to the "For Her" poster because Microsoft and 343i didn't want to reference Bungie due to them leaving the Halo franchise.
7:38 Yes, you can't hijack all Banshees. BUT, there is a singular Banshee on NMPD HQ that is hijackable and is (I believe) the ONLY hijackable Banshee in the entire game.
12:17 There were 2 animations in Halo 3, they were just less distinguishable from one another. The first is the same seen in ODST, meanwhile the second had the player forcing the bottom of the Hammer's hilt just a bit higher, looking as if it's looking for a shot to the head. The second melee animation was changed in ODST to the player smashing the skull of any enemy with the Hammer's head.
"Can't for some reason hijack a banshee." If I had to guess, its cuz those missions aren't made to be viewable from the air.

11:17 Riding the jump seats of the Scorpion was also possible in Halo CE and CEA. It's a feature that I wish would reappear with Spartan players, even if it were to be a Campaign exclusive feature.
It's always a pain in the ass when one player has a tank and everyone else just kind of has to follow behind them. It's nice being able to take a seat and keep guard
I thought these were Phantom recharging cables at 9:35. And these were the battery packs which are used to charge phantoms, ghosts and all other covenant machinery at 15:42. Never thought these would be Engineers.
Thats interesting at 13:30 the attention to detail is incredible. She was snuck off Reach by a member of Noble team and was basically off the grid. I love that it depicts that since her body wasnt recovered she s presumed dead.
At this point in time she's stuck in a slipspace bubble along with Blue Team

You should do the evolution of weapons and vehicle's. Maybe even the evolution of forerunner artifacts. Would love to see your take on a lot of these.
Biofoam and UNSC bandages in general are laced with a pain reliving agent similar to Morphine so the fact that Romeo gets up and lightly jogs is not to far fetched
I just comlpeted halo ODST with 2 friends. Them 2 on xbox and me on PC. we couldnt play the REach campaign cross console so we opted for this one, and ended up getting the legendary in under 3 hours. Great stuff reliving the odstd ::DD

Is Dare really a protagonist? We never experienced anything through her perspective.
You don't have to see events from the perspective of a protagonist. Dare was a key aspect of the plot on the side of our characters and as such was a protagonist.

Dare was not a protagonist, she was a supporting cast member.

I remember trying to save the Engineer that the Brutes are planting a charge on. I sniped the Captain. The Engineer still exploded as if it already had the charge on it, but I'm pretty sure the Captain also exploded.

The "For Her" Poster is a cover for its previous poster that read "Destiny Awaits" from Bungie showing Earth with a White Dot. Nodding at their new game as ODST was one of its last games after the split (They were already planning Destiny at the time)

I recently played H3:ODST and as the Rookie when exploring, I also found some hidden Elites when retracing the steps of Buck.
As a little brother, i was usually a watcher when me and my older brother played games. This is because back then, we didn't even have flatscreen tvs. So you couldn't split-screen multiplayer. We soon got a flatscreen tv right around when we got reach, but we've always had halo combat evolved, halo 3, (odst) and halo 4. But we soon split off as i went on to play playstation and he went off playing on PC. But good times those were on the xbox360.
I might need to be fact checked, but I believe for 58 the vehicle did actually change on Mombasa streets in the original odst on 360 if you didn’t use a warthog. I think it’s due to the way MCC does the levels that that’s not the case anymore. I could be wrong tho
Bungie were way ahead of their time. I’ve replayed all of their halo games multiple times and I always find something new in the campaigns. They created an engine and levels and just let you go crazy and experiment. You can take warthogs through an entire level that’s indoors if you try hard enough. Brilliant

Every summer, I tend to think of ODST because I go outside at night and its warm. New mombasa being in Africa, with palm trees, definitely summer night vibes but also early autumn. I think the actual game takes place on September
Halo Reach to Halo 3 were August to December of 2552 with the battle of New Mombasa taking place in September and this game being set the day after the battle
finished halo 3 odst campaign for the first time yesterday, this video dropped right at time
I loved ODST and did you know
Dare let an entire fleet of odsts to die all because she couldn't reveal the ture mission. and yet she said "abandoning the mission" to Buck lol
and we never saw what happened to the other odsts or even what they looked like but there was a lone opened drop pod with a SMG on the floor suggesting the owner died but we never saw the odst in the drop pod
Only Buck's team was supposed to accompany Dare on her secret mission to recover the engineer. Rest of the ODST teams had the original mission of landing on the covenant cruiser to capture regret, who panic jumped out of earth since he wasnt expecting the teleport of the ark and Human homeworld to be one and same location and thus arrived very underarmed to the situation thus Lord Hood's line in Halo 2 "something isnt right the fleet that took reach was fifty times this size" Because Regret came with a mining crew. The rest of the ODST's didnt die because Dare didnt tell them her mission, they died because truth panic jumped out of a certain loss.
That lone pod was Romeo's.

The first usage of a combat knife was in halo wars... February 26, 2009. When Forge killed Ripa' Moramee with it. Odst came out in September 22, 2009 so your off by a fairly decent margin.

I always thought Virgils warning of escaped convicts was in response to the sole survivng corrupt cop traveling with you to complete his mission to kill Sadies dad and Virgil itself, cause he reacts so angrily at the message
At the end of uplift reserve. If you go over the edge in a wraith it plays the ghost cutscene
7:44 you can hijack banshees but not the traditional way, if you kill the brute pilot and are fast enough to spam enter vehicle you can use the banshee as normal

I remember owning this game when I was In the second grade around 2012 I was still in elementary and I couldn’t pass the first mission for a week for some reason as a kid with no better time than to play video games i kept playing I finally managed to pass the first mission then switching through the odst protagonist as where going through the game really grew onto me and fje firefight omg I love the firefight for odst so much now Im a grown man and got the halo collection on my pc and this video making me want to go through the game once more love the videos

On the mission where you pilot the banshee at the very end you reach a tunnel filled with engineer stations. The other members of Alpha Nine encourage you to blow them up on your way out. You can fly to the end of the tunnel without doing so, but the following cutscene will still show the tunnel exploding behind you.
Cool video, though I think a couple of the "seven" references could be a bit of a stretch. Though I can't outright deny them either
