    I don't think there's any other tool company out there who has demonstrated their products to this level. The product is great and so is the support. Thanks MicroJig

    I am always critical of the technical presentation of these shop gadgets but this fellow is spot on with this demonstration. No anxiou stuttering, false starts, and repeated words. He knows the tool inside and out and can walk and chew gum (and run the gadget) at the same time. Very well done. Those anticipating doing their own technical CZcams Videos need to sit at this fellow's knee and learn a few things.

    I was able to use my Microjig Avanced for the first time today on my table saw after watching this awesome video, and the level of control compared to using a push stick is night and day, anxiety levels dropped dramatically, too. Fantastic product, I'm ordering a second for longer pieces. And thanks for the video, super helpful on multiple levels and the host did a great job. Just got a router table, too, so seeing this in use on that made my day.

    As others have said this is an awesome video and a great help to setting up the Grr-ripper and its accessories, far better than for me, than trying to follow instructions in a printed manual. The practical demonstrations create an appreciation of the Grr-ripper and its widespread potential use in the workshop. For me these explanations go a long way in justifying the cost of the Grr-ripper as you can begin to see how to use it to make work easier and safer across a number of woodwork machines. So many thanks to MicroJig for providing a brilliant educational video which I trust is a reflection of high quality customer service I can expect.

    I see a lot of comments complaining about the price. And I get it. We all (me included) don't have unlimited funds. Honestly though, if this is the safest way to use a table saw, is it really that expensive when it will last forever and significantly decreases your chance of getting hurt? I don't have a table saw yet but when I get one, I will be getting this product. The price is worth it to save my digits and perhaps more.

    Awesome video. As someone just starting out, I wanted to watch as many videos on table saw safety as possible and the kickback vids started making me think twice about getting one. Seems to me this would be a no brainer and Im deff going to pick up a couple. Again, as someone just starting out, I have no idea if these are overpriced or not. After all I spent on my tools, to spend a couple hundred on protecting my fingers from getting chopped off doesn't seem bad. Going to start out with just two of them and hopefully the more I learn, I can find use for the accessories. Would like to make sure I need them first.

    Just got the GR-200 with the 1/8th add-on. Used it tonight to cut down 1 inch rough stock to 3/4. Really easy and even more importantly extremely safe with the Grripper. In the short time I’ve been woodworking, I’ve come across useful tools, jigs and techniques to improve quality and safety. This is easily the best tool I’ve bought that improves both. Fantastic invention.
    I also got the match fit dovetail clamps and will be building a tabletop with dovetail tracks. Another great invention that will make a number of things easier to do. In my opinion, this is one of the most innovative companies in woodworking today.

Cutting 9/16 th by 1/2 inch strips. Good video to learn from. Had some problems with the O rings but all in all its a great item to have.

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  Před 2 lety +1

      Robert, cutting long narrow strips is what the GRR-RIPPER excels at. And once you get used to using it, the process becomes much less stressful and more enjoyable.
      The o-rings do require a bit if fuss during assembly, but they keep the hardware on the parts even when not being used, so they repay the effort every time you use your GRR-RIPPERs.

    Very good demo and well made product. I recently bought 2 and still learning best techniques. I'm finding it a little more difficult to accurately control longer stock than what I expected. Even while using kiln dried poplar without knots. Long half inch or less cuts 12" in length or more do not easily stay tight against the fence using the leap frog technique. Too much side pressure causes flex in fence on the average table saw. This isn't the microjig fault but unless you own a commercial saw you may have to clamp your fence down. Definitely a thumbs up for small stock.

    • @kadmow
      @kadmow Před 5 lety +1

      Ben, if you are flexing the fence it is either: pretty poorly designed (typical for consumer products), or being improperly used.. - back-it-up with some steel angle ( or aluminium angle if easier) to stop it flexing... ( that is a metalwork job for you)

    With all respect, at 11.19 you pulled the wood away from right to left across the blade path, towards you without switching off the saw. You may well, understandably, think you are safe as the grip secures both pieces of wood. However, I would recommend you inform your viewers that it is of great safety importance to always, always, switch off the saw before moving, removing, retrieving, etc any wood. Wait till the blade has come to standstill, then deal with the wood. Thanks for your demo of the gripper, a great tool.

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  Před rokem

      We will never tell you not do something you think is safe. But to be honest, turning the saw off and waiting for the blade to stop after each individual cut is overkill in our opinion.
      The control of the GRR-RIPPER does allow for BOTH parts to be run all the way past the blade and brought around the the front for the next operation.
      This is much safer than having the off fall rattling against the blade as it winds down.

    Sucks the high cost of this. It looks great. Just glad now other companies are making some similar products for a lot less. I really like your products but safety tools and equipment should definitely be at a fair price. I honestly wish you would make them cheaper if you want to promote safety.

    The presentation is clear and it appears to be a very good product. However, i have one comment that may or may not be important. The presenter is a tall man with a long arm's reach, and he's not standing on one foot when he's reaching behind the table saw blade and swinging the finished cut away. For some shorter operators this might not be a safe maneuver, especially if there is sawdust on the floor in front of the saw.

    • @bodgerdavesumner
      @bodgerdavesumner Před 3 lety

      I have just read that the saw table should be at or below, waist level. At 5 ft 6, mine, from the factory is just right. Dusty floor, on one foot, reaching beyond the blade are not acceptable. By having these hazards, you are transferring the danger from your thumbs & fingers to you wrists. You may pass out, before you can turn the machine off. Your comment IS IMPORTANT. Ensure that your table saw is the suitable height for you body size.

    Fantastic video. However, I was hoping to see the use of the gripper with irregularly shaped stock on the tablesaw as well as resawing stock as those are the things that really make me nervous.

    • @Microjig

      Here is a video I did on resawing at the table saw. This shows the GR-200 which has the Stabilizing Plate: czcams.com/video/zgQMjdOwIqI/video.html
      As far as irregular shaped stock, if the stock is flat but not rectangular, the GRR-RIPPER can ride the fence to provide a straight edge. This is for smaller parts. Larger parts, like trying to straight cut a live edge plank needs a different approach.

    Nice products but $60-$80 for a bunch of molded plastic parts can’t you assemble these as finished units and put them in a box so the consumer doesn’t have to do it?

    I cringed every time I saw his arm or wrist above the blade at the end of the cut.
    Also this thing would be useless on an older saw with a splitter instead of a riving knife.
    Pretty expensive too for plastic.

    Using two grippers each side of the band saw blade seems you’re pushing both grippers toward each other as you feed the stock it would pinch the blade??

    I just got mine (basic) last week recommended by Steve Ramsey from WWMM and I love it. Some people say you could make one of these but I really don't care. It's of extremely high quality and it helps tremendously. I wish I had taken the time to watch the videos but it was so fun to put together just looking at the book that comes with it that I didn't feel the need right away. I'm so glad I spent the money. Honestly, I should have gone ahead and gotten the 200 model for ten more dollars but it's ok. I'll be buying another one certainly later this year. Thank you MicroJig and thank you Steve Ramsey for making me feel more comfortable, safe and secure with my table saw.

      I think the "you can make your own" angle misses an important second question: "At your current skill level, can you make something that does this just as well and just as safely?". Some might, some might not. This involves more moving parts and planning than making your own push sticks.
      Personally, I'm not currently willing to put my fingers closer to the blade than I otherwise would, trusting in a design and materials that "looked good enough" to my less-experienced mind. So, just as I'm not willing to DIY my eye- and ear-pro and hope I've provided them good enough protection against the increased risk, I'd prefer to involve a company that's got more skin in the game in terms of product design, construction, and liability than a set of plans off the internet.

    Great tools... I got two of them because they work so well with my table saw and router table. 29:03... I actually prefer to use the Grr-Rip Blocks for my jointer and not the Grr-Ripper. I find them easier to use without any extra setup and have more contact area.

    • @Microjig
      @Microjig  Před 2 lety

      That is why we make the GRR-RIP Block! I keep mine on my jointer as well.
      But the GRR-RIPPER can be used on the jointer for those who do not own both.
      The GRR-RIPPER can do everything the GRR-RIP Block does, but the GRR-RIP Block cannot make through cuts without damage.
