- A brief-ish discussion of the three routes in Train Sim World 3, finishing with a summary of my overall thoughts on this debatably-necessary game.
(TSW3's featured routes):
Cajon Pass
Schnellfahrstrecke - Kassel to Würzburg
Southeastern High Speed (extended)

I agree with alot of the points raised in this video. I got TSW 3 but only off of xbox gamepass because I wasn't willing to pay $50 for what is essentially an update to tsw 2.
The differences between tsw 2 and 3 aren't that big to be honest. The new features included feel like things that should've been in tsw years ago and frankly don't justify in my opinion charging for this game.
I think the training center is useless because it really doesn't teach you anything about a train other than the basic stuff you would find in tsw 2 tutorials. Move throttle forward to accelerate, move it back to break etc. It doesn't teach you about the train's safety systems or other advanced features which makes no sense and defeats the purpose of having a training center. Whilst it's nice that it will now allow players to not have to buy a route in order to use a loco dlc, I only used it once and have no intention of using it again because I find it pointless
Now I do enjoy high speed routes but I do agree that Kassel-Wurzburg can get a bit boring due to the lack of variety and once you do many services. The ICE 1 is a nice edition though. For some reason though in the ICE 3, you can't set the destination manually and the passenger lights are way too dim when they are set on and don't bright up unless it's night or you are in a tunnel. They are much brighter in reality.
The problem with the German route for me is that it doesn't go to a station where the ICE's terminate. So while yes we have a longer high speed route, it would've been nice to get a terminating station for this long route which would' ve been better than just giving it up to the ai
The SEHS route has scenery improvements however the extension to dartford doesn't add much in my opinion. The extension to Ashford is nice however the route should've gone to Ramsgate or Dover Priory to make the 395 services feel more complete.
I won't comment on Cajon Pass since I didn't install the route since Im not into freight roues
Agreed, especially on the Training Centre. You'd think DTG would've gone the extra mile to teach people about things like safety systems. But they clearly thought it was a better idea to not even mention those systems and just leave people in the dark (Dovetail logic, for the win).
Saving my money. It’s exactly the same nonsense! Seems like every company these days are following Apple’s business model. Release the same thing and give it a different name. I agree hard pass for me
Same for train sim 2 it got boring really fast.
3:45 This train lost itself in drugs and alcohol.
Thank you, broke my rib.
It's time for them to make an open world map for USA and Europe. Have more freedom.
As half-finished Routes continue to be released, and old old problems still exist without a fix, your words still resonate
I got it for Christmas last year and I’ve found it to be a halfway decent game. My only complaint is that we get five locomotives in the German route yet we can only drive three since the other two are only able to be AI controlled. WHY INCLUDE FIVE WHEN WE CAN ONLY DRIVE THREE???!!!
Buy a couple DLC’s you will only get more frustrated. A running trend with these devs “we will show them but we won’t give it to them”
Something intresting came up to me when after I watched the development of the ICE: the whole German line in game is called Hannover-Würzburg line and its InterCity Experimental train attained a speed record of 252.8 mph while travelling along the route.
Makes no sense why you have to buy 95% of the content. Ruins the whole experience
Went looking for a review on this game, didn't expect to get one from and Kiwi 🇳🇿 :D
we need new countries, i'm tierd of seeing germany, the uk and usa allways getting new routes and upgrades. It would be cool to see a new country like Norway for example. Oslo airport station to Drammen statiom would have been a cool and new kinda route for the game with commuter trains, freight trains, regional trains and HSL/airport express trains
and now a new version 4 is being released.....
And once again they cover the same brokeback routes and areas. It’s like they think the United States is only east or west coast and nothing inbetween.
Now it's 5 lol
3:15 Out of these shown, only Br 145, Br 152, Br 189 and Vectron could be added, as only they come equipped with Linienzugbeeinflussung, required on this line...
Which doesn't mean DTG shouldn't have added them! Even though Bombardier TRAXX makes up the vast majority of freight locos of DB at this point, it's not like they only run them!
note: I do realise that this part was a bit of a joke, but diesels wouldn't be running on this line either....
Although I did buy tsw3, it did feel unnecessary to make a completely new game with only dynamic weather, longer routes and enhanced graphics
Tsw is my favorite sim in terms of immersion. That being said i will never understand why they keep making us buy new games for things that could easily be an update for the original. They make enough from dlc to cover that loss. I personally cannot see much difference vetween any of the 3 since i first played csx heavy haul.
Agreed. I'd love to be able to play the new Glasgow to Edinburgh DLC but having to upgrade from TSW2 to TSW3 AND pay for the DLC seems a bit of a rip-off. DTG could learn a of from SCS and their approach to Euro Truck Sim / American Truck Sim.
I decided long ago if DTG can't be bothered to fix bugged DLC before release new bugged DLC I don't need to pay for their game, so I just download the free version on the internet in torrent form, they'll never change so I'll never buy their games
That is illegal even if it was shit, you don't go to Burgerking and say that you'll pay it after you've eaten it and run from your seat closest to the door when all the staff are far enough
Good on you lolz
@N00N01 Well, they are borderline false advertising if they are basically making the same game and making you pay full price for a copy paste game instead of updating.
It's basically a scam which is up there with pirating.
When I saw the DB BR 180, it reminded me of the Czech electric in the Facebook game called TrainStation, painted in RegioJet yellow livery. I actually like that livery.
Its a loco which was built by GDR and Czech-Slovakia.
I'm disappointed in the American content in this game. I feel as if they could have gone the American Truck Sim route and release the entire state of California vs what I consider to be a short route and trains that are too short compared to real life. The "DLC" for this game is way to expensive and this really isn't even a new game. Previous packs are still selling for full retail. If DoveTail took the ATS route with maps and DLC, they'd be more successful.
They added the freight for variety...obviously.
1:00 because american players mainly care for freight, not high speed
I’m tired of routes that just make reskins of EMU’s and that’s the only train we get. London Commuter could be great if they threw in a class 800 or something. Instead we get the same emu basically but in red and green, woohoo. The new Edinburgh route is basically the same thing. Another emu and nothing else. I play TSW 2/3 less and less because it’s really nothing new. The Cross City Line there’s that track treatment train which is just a repainted class 66 that’s been around in the game forever. I find myself playing Classic more and more but even that is inaccurate concerning American equipment because the brakes don’t bail off and the air gauges are TOTALLY WRONG. Trust me, I’ve been an American railroader for 20 years. The American stuff in Classic is not right.
this game has over 1,053.50 $ in dlc's alone witch is ridiculous if you ask me, its a cash grab.
Ever heard of star citizen? One space ship from 50 to 3000$ lol
THEY STILL HAVENT FIXED THE SUPPOSED TO BE UP ES44’s that are STILL ONLY BLUE ON CAJON. The devs for this has to be the worst I’ve seen in gaming. I just don’t get it.
The sky looks nice.
I've got TSW2 and I don't know if I want to buy TSW3 however the new Lichfield City line has been added (my local line I use) and I'd love to play it. However paying £30 for one new train and a class 66 (which has been used before in two lines) is a bit much when I could spend £37 for 4 new lines and a tonne more locomotives.
Bit of a weird one
Plus the reason why I choose Dovetail is because I'm a console player and it's cool to see a local line introduced but it's ridiculously priced at the moment
Would you say the Cross city line is worth it or an incredible rip off compared to other routes you could get?
As it stands now, the Cross City Line is far too expensive for what you get. This certainly isn't the first time I've seen DTG ripping people off. The price of the standalone route makes no sense when it's the same as that bundle with the base game; talk about being unfair to existing players.
I just got it on the steam summer sale, and the deluxe cost 15$, not bad deal considering I wanted spirit of steam which would cost 20$
i got this for 10 euro. So id say its a win for me waiting on a sale XD
I wanna buy it now its on sale but how does it work? You only have 3 routes you play over and over again? Or per "route" you can drive through different destinations. And are there many (modern) trains or really only 2?
There's a lot of additional DLC available for this game (with plenty of modern trains to boot, like the Class 700). I don't know how it works on consoles, but on PC - where I play the game, the add-ons are automatically installed into the game and you can choose what route to drive on in the main menu.
Unfortunately the routes are generally quite short, but regardless, some examples of route add-ons in this game are as follows:
East Coastway - Brighton to Eastbourne & Seaford
Island Line 2022 - Ryde to Shanklin
London Underground Bakerloo Line
Bahnstrecke - Bremen to Oldenburg
Peninsula Corridor - San Francisco to San Jose
@@DC4260Productions so if I buy the standard edition, it wont really have much to offer unless I start buying DLC's?
@@DC4260Productions ok. Thanks for sharing :)
@@ovgamesffa5403 you do get more trains(if im wrong correct me), yes the routes are long but they are very flat, meaning that they arnt very twisty, making the layout of the routes somewhat the same. And u get tsw2 and tsw content aswell.
Edit: some previous game content anyway.
11:51 which route
The metro link comment aged well!!
How about extending Dartford and Rochester to London on the third rail?
i wish thay would bring norways bergen line would be nice been on it a few times summer and winter ill stick with tsw2 it as what i need for the price and what you get on tsw3 think i would rather spend the cash on dlc for tsw2
They 100% need to make a new zealand dlc
4:07 hahahaha wtf is that I love it!
It's a Köf III (DB BR 323) , a tiny shunter, only about 3m tall. It was used alot back in the day, but currently not a lot of them are around.
The lights are better
All be train sim world 4
Sorry but it's not pronounced ice.
It's pronounced I. C. E
Inter City Express. Nobody in Germany say ice.
🤓
And in German, it is pronounced as EAR SER EAR
How do the graphics compare to TSW2? Are they any better?
The lighting is a bit improved, but sometimes hardly noticeable, especially on already existing routes. For the rest, nothing particularily better
It always the same country routes
hi i do love train sims i do have a rail driver controller that makes sims just that much better with all the levers and buttons got it from trade me
As a Nashville native the WeGo Star would be an amazing thing for dovetail to add to this game. It probably will not happen though as there aren't enough fans of it
I think adding obscure lines like Nashville to Lebanon could help to raise interest in said lines. And it's not even 40 miles long, so on length along it's an ideal candidate for future DLC.
@@DC4260Productions I’m totally for that, most of my railfanning videos are on that train, I’ve loved it since my childhood when my grandparents would take me on it every once in a while
Are you from NZ?
I am disappointed. Still so buggy, and you’re right, it is the same older worlde game, patched and falsely presented as a sequel.
I dont blmae you for saying all u said bout kassel-wuzburg
Is it worth getting tsw3 instead of tsw2?
yes
@@Spacebug111 Better question, is it even worth getting this game in general?
The game is shit. Thanks for confirming
