    Very awesome and underrated guide. As a TW vet, Warhammer is brutal if you don't know the lore or the special abilities and there are tons. This is the only thing I needed - a point in the general direction. Yvresse is also a very strong faction - A/S tier easily.

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Před rokem

      Appreciate the comment. Thanks mate! I have a playlist breaking down the intricacies of each faction. All High Elves are done and they contain the subtle tactics to help them all excel. Yvresse are certainly A+. Tyrion's cosy start and the WH2 diplomacy system made him S Tier. In IE he's certainly falling to A+ along with Alarielle imho. TLDR: every other high elf faction is going to drop a grade due to local threats except Yvresse (he'll stay the same imho) and Caledor (slightly improved).

    My first ever WH2 campaign win was with Taurox. I keep putting aside campaigns because everyone sounds awesome. After watching a lot of these videos about the high elves, I think Yvresse will be my next campaign! Knowledge really is power with these guys. Congrats, getting a campaign win is an achievement many never get to, so good job! There's different playstyles from the different races that change quite dramatically. If the HE feel too sanitized you could explore the DE as well as they require aggression for their economy. If you're looking to only finish one HE campaign before you move on, Yvresse is a challenging start but has the richest mechanics: the prison and more units than any other HE means you'll get the full experience. Good luck!

    It's actually possible to destroy the Greenskins on Ulthuan on turn 4 and then disbanding the armies on Ulthuan to be able to focus on growth and economy. You will have to recruit a second lord on 1 turn to be able to do that and you will run a deficit and might even take some attrition, but it will be worth it.

    @littlegreen6355 Před 2 lety +1

    Very good and smart advice, thanks. :)
    I just restarted a new Eltharion campaign on Very Hard (this might be too tough for me, we'll see). On my previous Hard campaign, I had an inactive army on Ulthuan after taking the Yvresse-province. Because I don't like inactive armies, I declared war with Tyrion. After some back and forth I won the war and the other elves were stronger and withstood invasions (because Tyrion didn't go to war with them). I started confederations after the war with Tyrion.
    Do you think it's viable to make an early war with Tyrion? Is it winable on harder difficulties or does it cost too much?

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Před 2 lety

      Hey mate, there's some gimicky things you can do, but I really advise against declaring war on Tyrion. At the end of the day it's just a confed which you'll get sooner or later. Once he's confederated you'll be back on the mission and you'll find yourself several turns behind where you should be. Later on it may take 200k gold but Tyrion will confed. The best way isn't to declare war, but to box him in! Use your influence to degrade his relations with his neighbours..... not much! just enough to keep below 80 (the confed minimum). Take your time to control the Badlands then eventually conquer into the donut. Sooner or later he'll lose his army then snap him up. I recommend getting Alarielle because she's so good. Other than that, play the mission, not the confederation and just keep an eye on Tyrion. Use that influence to keep him from getting too big ;) Good luck!

  • @temporaryjensen6356
    @temporaryjensen6356 Před 2 lety +1

    Love the video! Small question but if you did play the diet Tyrion way, how do you eventually get Tyrion to confed? Even when he has a slightly lower BOS, he refuses to confed -.-

    • @ElvenPlotArmour
      @ElvenPlotArmour  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks mate, in terms of getting Tyrion when you've gone Diet-Tyrion it ends up making things harder as you're perceived BoP ends up being lower. The biggest advice I can give is use influence to sabotage any near-confeds he has while boosting your own relations to box him in by confederating his neighbours first. If you don't get him early it becomes a late game ordial or simply revolves around waiting for Tyrion to fall in battle while having similar enemies to keep the relationship positive,.. Don't keep paying him waiting for confeds to happen when it feels like a stretch. Follow your gut otherwise you can just spend money on bolstering his armies too much which sets you back....

      @ElvenPlotArmour  Před rokem +1

      Hey mate, sorry to hear it's being a pain. To clarify, the rank doesn't actually matter. It's the balance of power bar and the armies that are relative to their territory that make them feel the heat to confederate. It's definitely more difficult or harder difficulties to get relations positive, but the calculations are the same. It's the various factions interacting with them that's creating ebbs and flows. In a few turns the opportunity will come :) check out my diplomacy guide for more details if that's of any interest.

      Hi mate, don't stress, Total War is confusing, poorly explained but actually not that complicated. I've got a Basics video that I promise will help your game, stick with it, there's some gold in there! (czcams.com/video/anXCV-prPT0/video.html).
      Recruitment: you can only recruit if you are within the borders of a province you control.
      A province is comprised of several settlements - all benefits from every building in the province add together and you can recruit from any building, regardless where you are standing in the province.
      If you are out of your province (in neutral or hostile territory) you can typically only recruit globally when in encamp stance (requires 50% of your movement). This is roughly double the time and price, typically undesirable. Encamp stance also helps replenish your forces when away from home.
      Your capital province is generally for recruitment and your expansion for economy in the early-mid game.
      If you're really new to Total War, I have a fundamentals video too which could help.
      Good luck mate!

      @@ElvenPlotArmour I do have preferences but I have tried them all.
      I hate Skaven - both to play as and against, I find Wood Elves except Drycha boring and I find Dwarves' roster too limited in terms of speed and mobility because it massively hurts their battlefield control.
      I find High Elves are so strong it can become boring to play as them and I wish there were more field battles in campaign so we could make fast units more viable because war lions, chariots and cavalry have very limited uses in sieges which make up the majority of battles but they are such fun units. That said they have some very cool mechanics like the Rite of Vaul, influencing diplomacy with influence and their character traits and their very large magic lore selection and heroes are great. They also have great legendary lords.
      But my favourite is Vampire Counts. Their faction could use a lot of work such as to the tech tree, their available traits (eg Determined should not be a thing), followers with indeterminate scopes and follower and banner variety but I find them to be extremely powerful in the right hands in campaign - probably not so much in multiplayer. They can be as powerful if not more powerful than High Elves but the difference is High Elves take no time at all to be powerful and can expand freely whereas Vamps are very much a slow burner that cannot handle rapid expansion without major problems and honestly they are not a beginner friendly faction whereas High Elves definitely are.

      Regarding Skaven, some advice you may already know, but you can shutdown their ambush with lord skills, followers and most races have an 'ambusher' trait if you finish enough turns in ambush stance. Together these bring the odds in your favour and severely neauter the Skaven. Apologies if you knew this already, I just used to despise them and now they're not a problem after learning the above. Dude, slow down! It feels like you're in a race to get the words out as quickly as possible. Especially when combined with the frequent cuts, I'm still trying to situate myself with what's on screen when I realise that I'm already behind trying to follow what you are saying. If it seems fine when you listen to it, don't forget that you already know what you're saying - that makes a big difference to how easy it is to follow.

      Appreciate the feedback mate. It's a difficult balancing act. I want to jam as much value for the viewer as possible to give them the most, while still making the video short enough to be enticing enough to watch. Funnily enough it takes several hours more to script/shoot/edit a short video like this than to make a 2 hour Let's Play but if I can help more people it's worth it. Honestly cheers and it's a great incite that with multiple locations (like Yvresse) needs a slowdown in cuts.
