FF13 ost goat video
Insanely informative video
I wasn't aware you could actually get >=100% mitigation for defense, as I thought they used a seperate formula :O
I cannot believe that "attack up" is literally the same thing as "damage up" except being different multiplier buckets. Extremely odd for the things to be named that way.
Thanks for doing all that work Chaz!
This is really cool to have thanks for making this video! It's funny to see people surprised about how atk/def buffs/debuffs just give a multiplier to damage since that's exactly how it worked in the original Octopath. Although this game's damage formula overall seems much more complicated than the first game's lol
Very nice to have all this info in one place finally. Just wondering about a few things -- is the random variance on damage rolls the same ~0.98-1.02 multiplier as in the original? Also, for physical damage, do we understand how exactly crit RNG works, or is crit still the black sheep of the stat family? And a bit of an unrelated question, but I've seen a few cases of the damage cap basically increasing past 99,999. Is that something that comes up in the formula somewhere, or is it just a JP exclusive passive/feature?
ur a real one
This is very useful. Thanks alot. Would you happen to know how crit works. It's such a confusing stat that could be useful for Tikilen
Octopath and final fantasy ok i see you gurl
according to the formula the % of damage increase goes down once we get better weapons
still too hard for me xd.all i wanna know is how potency calculated.what does it mean.
This is such a needed video! Thanks for explaining it in an understandable way! So the stat buffs don't actually affect stats at all, it's just a pure multiplier in the formula? It makes it much easier to calculate. Will you put the video on reddit? I'm sure it'll be valuable as a resource for theory crafters out there.
Thanks! Yes. The CotC devs just did whatever they wanted to for the damage formula in this game. Posting it on reddit now!
