This SUV has been my dream car for over 7 years and have been working so hard to make sure I get this before I die.
As someone in the market for these as I also loved them years ago - I went with a X5 M60i, 90% of these things but much cheaper and the suspension is SO MUCH better for daily road use, these fat M cars are incredibly rough riding on mediocre public roads

@@dill6078 Is the only thing worth upgrading probably the upgrade for the 60i version? If so, I would assume it would make it just about the same price as the X5M?
Thankfully, they depreciate like a rock. Ill be working in 2-3 years so by that point these cars used will be significantly cheaper.

For the heated seats/steering wheel, if you’re in the “auto” setting and the icon is not showing on the bottom or lit up red, it is not on. That is setting the automatic sensitivity to “low”, “medium” etc to tell it when to turn on based on temperatures. So in the video even though you have it on “low” it is not on because it hasn’t lit up red or show up next to the temperature.

The ambient lighting in these cars is full on gaudy gaming pc levels at this point.

yeah why is the idrive system from like 3-4 updates ago? Current idrive 8.5 update has all those climate and cabin controls much easier accessed

My favorite M vehicle.
I agree about the climate controls. The fact that some (most?) of the controls aren't physical isn't the main problem. There is space on the screen next to the temperature to include a fan icon with a +/- next to it and and two seat icons: red for heated and blue for ventilated seats. Then it would be 1-click control and problem solved. It's not as nice as a real button, but it would be perfectly adequate. Going into a sub menu is not adequate, at least not at this price. The steering wheel heat should be a button on the bottom of the steering wheel.
FYI: The settings of the heating steering wheel and seats isnt how hot they are, but how warm you like it. For example if you set it to low it will only turn when external AND internal temp of the car is low. If you set it to medium, it will turn ON earlier, etc. So its "automated" to an extent and I find you dont need to fiddle with it that much after you've set it up.

I’d love an X5M but I can’t justify a $60K upgrade to my ‘23 X3M base. Yes I paid $82K for a well equipped X3M. Plus it still has climate buttons, and the ride’s not bad with the 20’s. The whole car is noticeably better than the pre LCI 2020 X3M.

BMW used to listen to the community more than other brands, and we loved it. But now they are shoving us with these big screens we don't even need on a daily drive. BMW must bring the normal buttons and only upgrade the software, not remove the buttons.

12:47 As much as I can respect it, I'm not so sure on that sentiment. I know that I'm not alone when I say this but as a current BMW owner, the only thing the new BMWs are persuading me to do is save for a Porsche.
I also believe your perspective might be skewed as Mercedes, Land Rover, and less so Audi have been producing some pretty cheaply made and unreliable cars lately.
I don't think just because BMW is currently producing comparably more reliable and better built vehicles, than Mercedes, Land Rover, and Audi should allude to them being aspirational. It simply shows Mercedes, Land Rover, and Audi are lacking.
Sure BMW is killing it on sales this year, but I think a large part of that is due to the misses from MB and Audi.
Before 2020 my opinions were different. I would have generally agreed with your opinion.

Coming from someone who has a pre LCI X5 (2023 40i M sport), this interior looks incredibly tacky and complicated. There should ALWAYS be physical buttons for climate.
Climate should work well on auto and then you don't need any buttons. It's 2024.
@UhOhUmm for something as simple as climate controls, it shouldn't be locked away in an infotainment screen that requires opening 3 or more menus just to access it. It's very confusing (for a lot of people), time-consuming, and just unnecessary. It doesn't matter if it's 2024 or 2034.
They will bring them back on next model. Too many are complaining. One accident caused by it will result in huge lawsuit.

Edit: The new 40i with the full fat B58 is so hard to beat. Quick for most cars out on the road, excellent fuel economy and smooth ride. Sweet spot. And I’m too poor for a new X5MC.

The new iDrive is horrible. For the money I think I rather have the new Tesla 3 Ludicrous as a daily and a Chrysler Pacifica as a utility/cargo vehicle.
