- Mark Doty (of the popular analog synth CZcams channel AutomaticGainsay) demonstrates the fundamental techniques of how to create a great lead sound on an analog synth with the filter and oscillators to create variance in frequency and richness in tone. Using the Moog Grandmother, he talks aesthetics, patching, and portamento.

Another nice demo from Marc Doty.
Thanks! I tried out your techniques on my GM, and this was super helpful!
Wow, great from Marc!
Really informative video - My introduction to Mark Doty was only recently when I watched a video of Look Mum No Computer dismantling a Grandmother.

Nice demo! You forgot the Spring reverb...
Grandmother goes up to eleven !
YES!😆
I have a really weird problem with my grandmother....
Right out of the box everything worked just fine, the arpeggiator, sequencer, etc. But for some odd reason, suddenly this section doesn't seem to work anymore....
When I enter the Arp mode and press down some keys I hear....nothing.....
Even the red LED doesn't seem to respond if I turn up the BPM, it just constantly lights red.
Is my synth broken???
Did you press "play"? I forget that sometimes.
Play some Floyd man!!!...🤙😎🤘
Lets not haunt ourselves anymore...
no play some YES or ELP

Lead is a rather lame word, in musical terms. should have been just for the guitar era of 70s and 80s.
no dude I think it's older than the 70s aka the 60s it came from the moog system no cap
