    I would love to hear about your transition from Tandem to OmniPod and how you’re liking Omnipod 5 vs control IQ. I’m preparing to switch.

    Great video :) I have some difficult questions. if you know the answer to any please respond. Thanks!
    1) If you start a 10 unit bolus and you walk away from your PDM will your bolus continue?
    2) If you are sleeping does your Omnipod continue to communicate with the PDM as WIFI or Bluetooth? Are these the same ?
    3) Do you use the Airplane mode?
    4) Is there any danger of malfunction if you are next to another Type 1 person with a PDM?
    Thanks for any help? I also have to assume there is a battery in the Omnipod Dash and should be recycled ?

      Hi! sorry for not responding sooner!
      1. Yes it will, you only have to be near to PDM to initiate the bolus
      2. Yes it does communicate throughout the night (bluetooth)
      3. I don't put my phone in airplane mode normally, but if I do I just make sure that bluetooth is still enabled after turning on airplane mode.
      4. No, because you have to go through a fairly extensive process to connect your specific PDM to your dexcom through the transmitter serial number. And when you connect a POD, it stays connected until you disconnect it manually.
      Omnipod dash PDM has a rechargeable battery like a cell phone :)
      I hope this helped!

    Awesome video ! ☺️ Question.. you don’t remove the left over insulin from the old pod? 😭

    • @type1derwoman
      @type1derwoman  Před 2 lety +1

      No I don’t normally, but I have before one time when I was running low on my prescription. It’s not recommended because the insulin gets warm being up against your skin and where I live it gets up to 110 degrees 😩

    If I may ask when looking at your PDM it looks like you have more than 50 units left is that common to have so much left and go to waste is there anything you can do to reuse what’s in there

    • @type1derwoman
      @type1derwoman  Před rokem +2

      Its pretty common, I do sometimes add less to my POD, but a lot of times i forget and just add the full amount. Some people draw excess insulin out of the old pod and reuse it. But im worried that it will have gotten too warm being so close to my skin for 3 days!

    Does my Omni pump have to come off my body each time a new insulin pod ìs installed?

    • @type1derwoman
      @type1derwoman  Před rokem +1

      Yes! Every three days you have to change it and add insulin to the new pod

    Very helpful video, thank you. I have a question on the pod expiry. Your current pod is shown as expired at 9:34, yet you are only changing it at 4:33. Do you have extra time to change it after the 72 hours while the pod still work, and if yes, how long? Thank you

    • @type1derwoman
      @type1derwoman  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes! You have 8 hours after it expires to change it. I should have mentioned that 😩

      @type1derwoman  Před rokem +1

      Without insurance, yes! Depending on your coverage though it can be very affordable. I pay around $50-$75 for a three month supply.
