Please note that this is my personal take on the chapter! Whether its en-visioned differently in your eyes is understandable but note that these edits are not canon to Akihito's ideas. I wanted to dramatise events present in the panels by adding small pinches of animation alongside the sounds I personally thought would match the scene if it's ever reincarnated as an anime adaptation.
I will commit to this monthly mini-series as per usual, and will be sure to do Chapter 55 when it comes out!

Only Akihito makes a character grief its beloved by giving it the choice to kill, in a place where both of them are finally safe, its perfect clone to the point of also having a soul to finally move on. It is quite interesting seeing how Nanachi before never really choose Mitty's death as it was the only choice in the moment because of Bun daily danger and after that she was just following Riko and Reg as the other choice was suicide. And damn Garburune, Mr Robotto seeing her curious little princess go back to her destiny really hurts. Amazing chapter in preparation for a climax that is going to be quite intense. Again thanks for your amazing work, the soundtrack choice was on point to amplify the train of eternal suffering. In these times it works to keep at bay the insanity that will eventually led to eldritch MiA memes.
This right here is not only super pleasing as a creator to hear but also you've illustrated hidden truths behind Akihito's work. I'm glad that they didn't close Mitty off completely as even though Reg put her to rest and overcoming Bondrewd may have felt like Mitty's official farewell, I felt as if Nanachi's character was at a standstill for so long. But now that she has officially dedicated herself to the team and shed fewer tears this time, proves she has become one of the strongest characters in Made in Abyss.

The fact that this Mitty is more responsive compared to her original one is probably the one reason that hurts me the most. Holy shit lookit that she looks like she's smiling all the time with the way her mouth is properly shaped and her eyes. You just can't let that go...not without a part of you leaving with her
Whether this Mitty inherits the soul of the original is uncertain, yet, this is just as powerful as her original send-off. This version of Mitty almost seems happy and carefree, which only makes Nanachi’s decision to free this Mitty’s soul even more devastating. Akihito is a brilliant storyteller~!! He holds back no punches when it comes to the emotional side of this series
An interesting detail about Belaf's narehate form I want to point out:
In my opinion, he is likely meant to resemble a tapeworm.
Since he was shown as one of the people to regret and dislike eating Irumyuui's children the most and Irumyuui's transformations reflect who the person was, I personally think his narehate form island to resemble how he felt like he was exploiting her and her children in a parasitic way.
While one's moral interpretation of the situation may differ from his or even between readers, he definitely felt guilty and felt that it was wrong of him to do despite enjoying the taste. It might also be why he held so much value in Mitty in not being able to take from her the same way he took from Irumyuui (though in my opinion it was in a near identical fashion, similar justifications but that the resource came in a different form). I am sure there could be further interpretations, but I think his long body is the most prominent feature. Details like the axe-like bones on his head might be symbolic of being unable to move around and function without tearing apart from within and having mouths for eyes as being a manifestation of being blinded by hunger, but again, his lo g body is probably his most prominent design feature and I just think it's an incredibly interesting one that holds a lot of significance.

In a city of wishes and desires, Nanachi’s two greatest wishes conflicted, to see their best and truest friend once again and to personally put an end to said friends torment. They could not have both wishes fulfilled without sacrificing the other, and with memories of a similar situation, Nanachi does what the past could not, they end the suffering of the one they love the most, even if it leaves them alone.

Chapter 55 is out! You probably won’t see this but this is to let you know. And holy shit, is it something else. I have a list of things that can be improved on as well.
- Less shaky eyes unless it is completely necessary
- Sound effects that will affect the brain and stomach if you know what I mean, as it will trigger emotional effects better
- OSTs from tv shows and movies with intense music, like Demon Slayer, Evangelion, Interstellar, Dark Phoenix, or something
I like your work - a friend recommended it to me because we both love Made in Abyss. Your channel deserves more attention with all these amazing animations and edits. Good luck with animating the next chapter!

@@TheMickellPickell I think that he's probably referring to memories, and how the treasured things, what makes your value, remains with you even - or just - when you don't cling on it and let them go, carrying them with you on your journey. It's really an intense chapter but i think the overall arc is really deeply influenced by spirited away and Hollow Knight both in themes and artstyle somehow which is pretty cool! Anyway amazing work with the animation! Keep it up is crazily good!

Sad to say Akihito is quite inconsistent (but he does work hard!). His uploads vary from every 2 months, sometimes 3, sometimes 4 and we have had a 5 monther once upon a time 😭. His uploads are usually on 10ths, 20ths or 30ths of months.

Oh god, now I'm scared for the next chapter. I fear that the team may try to attack and kill Faputa to get her to stop destroying the village. Which I hope that not the case, because I really like Faputa so far, and hopefully there a more peaceful solution. But even if they do try to attack her, I believe that the odds may not be in our team's favor, because Faputa showed to be more stronger than Reg, pierce his skin with her claws, made short work killing 3 interference units, & possibly more unpredictable. And it could be possible that garburoon may assist Faputa instead of Riko & Reg. But we won't know until the next chapter, I'm just hoping for that peaceful solution.
Grimm Lich Considering this manga is chock full of trauma left and right, I think that Faputa and/or her mom will be killed with no real chance for them to be together, and Riko and friends will move on to the next layer.

That’s a great question mate. I think it will be a movie based on the way the series has been presented over the last year (kinema citrus revamped the original series as recap movies and we just got the sequel bondrewd arc film). HOWEVER! It wouldn’t surprise me if it were an anime considering how long this arc has been running for! Either way, I’m excited! 🤩

Hey! So I just barely got caught up with the Made in Abyss manga. I know that new chapters are scarce, but exactly how often are new chapters released?
Well it was ranging last time from 3 - 5 months (during the production of the sequel film) I imagine he’ll be closing those waits now to about 1 - 2.5 months 😊 (as they have announced that they have begun “producing” this current arc now)
Mickell Pickell ooooh ok thanks. If they are working on producing the next arc, he better be finishing it up because there are no good stopping places in the middle of it and if the end the second season on a cliffhanger I won’t be a happy camper
Well I think that this arc is close to its end if I’m honest! I think that there will be another arc after this that will have a seperate anime adaptation. But after this arc is finished I don’t know how consistent the manga will be considering Akihito will likely pitch in quite a lot of time on the next film.

I've been buying hard-copies in stores to show my support for the series but Akihito also posts his original work online for free reading (japanese versions). It is then uploaded to other sites in an english translation. I usually use websites like manganelo. While yes its still not a legal site, there isn't a legitimate way to read the manga online in english.
HOWEVER!!! You can still very much support him by re-tweeting his original japanese releases online so that a greater amount of people can see it and sending him love and support through his social media.
He has seen very little (but still seen) some of my work and hasn't tried to remove it or anything, instead he supported it. He seems to be aware of online english translations, BUT STILL lets creators use his work!

Can anyone explain to me why there are 2 mitties? Earlier, reg did send her off but there was another mitty which dawn sold to belafu. It kinda confused me a lot.
The second is a re-incarnation of Mitty. It’s a version of her before the experiments. Now we must also remember that the Mitty in Belafu’s hands isn’t EXACTLY Mitty. This Mitty was created to replicate the one that bondrewd brought down to Belafu. Because he refused to sell her, Belafu sacrificed lots of it’s limbs to recreate a Mitty like the one Bondrewd brought with him. The question NOW is who is the Mitty Bondrewd brought down??
There is a fair amount of ambiguity here. The one that Bondrewd brought down too Belafu could either be:
A) The genuine Mitty whose best friends with Nanachi (but before experimenting on her and causing her to deform..We don’t know how much time exactly passed when Mitty first became what she was. We know a fair amount of time did as Nanachi had been working with bondrewd to create cartridges to the point where she knew exactly how to do it and a lot of innocent kids were sacrificed and they were a new set of kids as Nanachi and Mitty were the last of there group).
B) A successful version of the experiment he simply decided to rename Mitty after his first successful blessing experiment (this would make sense but the fact that Riko recognised the eye as an exact replica makes the believability of this idea hard...HOWEVER! Nanachi mentioned that almost every child she experimented on had similar eyes for adventure so this could very much be the case).

@@TheMickellPickell oh, after I recap ch 43-54, I did miss some important dialog such as how belafu made his own mitty. Imo, he brought real mitty after he knew mitty is immortal but haven't tried using sparagmos to her right eye. Before, I thought belafu somehow able to buy mitty from bondrewd. Then, another question pops out of my mind. Why bondrewd brings mitty along side with him? I thought he might want to trade something with mitty's parts to make another sick experiment
