I had the 1982 z perhaps the fastest 250 ever made wicked . 83 they tuned it down a touch but still good. Many guys put a 82 cylinder and head on them. Back when I raced in 80s
Re; the head swap & using a 82 head, Im trying to get hold of a 82 head for my bike, looking at pics it would seem the 83 head is low compression, maybe a later head would also work?

Might do - have never looked into it on that bike I’m afraid!
