  • In this video, you will learn about all the best features to the WashTower and some possible drawbacks. We will be comparing the LG to other one-piece stacks from Whirlpool, Speed Queen, and GE as well as some two-piece stacks from GE and Whirlpool. The WashTower has some great features and a ton of positive press, but there are some problems you should know before buying.
    This is an interesting machine. The Smart functionality will make washing your clothes even easier. Turbo 360 and other cycles are convenient.
    Most of all the WashTower is simple to install and the controls actually make sense in the middle rather than at top.
    It is clearly superior to other one-piece brands, but clearly much more expensive.
    In terms of the traditional front load washer and dryer stacked, The WashTower lacks a few key features especially the Auto dispenser. And it is a bit more expensive
    However, with its sensible design and smart functionality, The LG WashTower should be considered especially in tight spaces.

    Thanks for this comprehensive review. I absolutely love my large capacity LG steam washer and dryer but would live to make room for more storage. The laundry is conveniently located behind closed doors in my kitchen. The wash tower would allow me to add a small pantry. I’m sold on the wash tower.

    We just bought an LG Wash Tower and be careful with placement as the standard 6' power cord may not reach your wall outlet, and our house is 4 years old. Mine is so taught the plug can't seat 100% into the outlet and we really can't move the unit any closer. So my only option is to buy a longer power cord. The shortest LONG one I can find is 10'. So I'll change that out as I'm not comfortable with the current setup.

    As you mentioned in the video if one part of the unit goes awry, you would have to replace the entire unit. I have owned 4 LG washer sets since 2003. The units are impeccable. One washer had the heating go out and an internal fill hose developed a hole in it. That’s not a bad record of ownership in 18 years. LG stands behind their name and their products. My current set is the signature set as well as my dishwasher. I cannot reiterate enough - LG is the way to go.

    I just bought this and honestly I love it! I previously had the traditional stacked large units from LG but when we moved our new space was a bit smaller and our laundry room is more like a closet and we had to upgrade from an older whirlpool model. It is quiet and we use pods for detergent so we never used the 40 load functionality. There is a model that is $100 less bit it doesn't have steam and the steam function is really what sets this apart in my opinion. We have dogs, rabbits and allergies and this machine handles it all well. Not sure it's worth the upgraded price, but i couldn't reach the traditional stacked controls in the new space so i didn't have the option haha.

      We don't review sound on laundry for a couple of reasons. 1. Their DBAs aren't usually supplied by the manufacturers and 2. They are all loud. The washers spin at a much higher RPM speed than machines of old.

  • @catreader9733
    @catreader9733 Před rokem +1

    I am not criticizing the video, because service was outside its scope; but always consider service availability, as well as delivery and set up, when selecting large appliances. We are going to buy a stacked set because the laundry facility in our next home IS in a closet (another commenter referred to having a closet-like space). However,, we want full capacity and some of the extra features, so our choices are LG and Speed Queen. We are likely to choose Speed Queen because, although LG is readily available in the area, service for LG brand is sparse, and there is no one offering in-warrantee service. Speed Queen, on the other hand, is both available and serviced.

    Thank you so much for your informative and thorough review! I am considering purchasing one of these. One of the issues you raise concerns the lack of an auto dispenser. I am not sure about this as necessarily being a negative. It has been my experience that if you let detergent sit too long, it can clump, dehydrate, or go bad. For a small family (or single person) the auto dispense might not be a good option. Also, if your laundry center is located in a hotter place wouldn't this also impact the integrity of the detergent over time? (My laundry closet is a specially build outdoor closet on the side of the house to avoid bringing heat into the home as I live in a tropical climate). Anyone have any thoughts on this?

      @@YaleAppliance1 thank you for the info. the motor on my 1999 Frigidaire washer went. i thought about paying $175 for a new motor since the rest of it is still in great condition and so is my 2006 Kenmore dryer too. They were stacked. my family felt it was better to replace both due to age with the model in the video review. -- I considered an all in one to make it easier physically on me since i have limited mobility and energy. Hearing they have more issues is concerning so I will avoid that option. Thank you for that helpful info. im so torn. the new separate units that stack are much higher then my older model and I can not reach the controls. I can reach mine, because they stack without the lid on it. so eventhough control for dryer up top, it was lower and within reach. but then my washer is hard for me to stand and bend my legs to access. -- the unit you reviewed seems my best option. controls right in the middle, plus dryer not up too high. --- i considered separate ADA side by side units , so I could access from a wheelchair or standing. but then i loose the low closet space right there down at arm level. so nice to place towel right in the low cabinet and not have to carry them to another room. with the units next to eachother, then the cabinet would have to be above the unit, even with an ada one that lowers down some, it still would be too high above a unit on a pedalstool. --- . sooooo the tower you reviewed may be my best option. (i do wondered if i paid the $175 for a new motor, if i could get a few more years, and then a better all in one unit might be on the market.) thank you again for the review and info.

    I recently moved into a 1978 manufactured home. The laundry/utility room floor is not level, and is a bit squishy, but from the crawlspace the subfloor looks OK. The handyman who checked this told me that subfloors have layers, and that the upper layer(s) most likely was water damaged in the past (what I suspected). Should I replace the subfloor and flooring before I can get a washer/dryer installed, especially the Wash Tower? The Handyman pointed out that all washers and dryers have levelers, so he did not feel the need to replace the floor, even though he'd make money by doing so. One cap of soap is much too much for the washer. Manufactures tell us (the appliance technicians) that medium loads only need a teaspoon of soap, and for heavy loads use up to 2 tablespoons. Anything more than that allows soap to compound in your washer and potentially cause leaks, or damaged components later down the line.

      The dryer is always on top when stacked (or unitized in this case). There is separate electrical for both the washer and dryer.

    • @YaleAppliance1
      @YaleAppliance1  Před 3 lety +1

      Miele does not make a WashTower, they make compact laundry so you would need to consider capacity if going to Miele. That said, Miele makes the best laundry on the market if your major concern is fabric care.

    I do not like the LG wash tower because the washer does not have just a drain and spin feature. This comes in handy when the washer is trying to finish spinning but won't handle a simple blanket so I have to run it through a second time and hope it will spin the water out on the cycle. I find it is a weak machine for spinning the clothes to the normal damp dry state before putting into the dryer. So I would not recommend this to anyone.

    Please ditch the background music. You have a soft, airy voice, with very little glottal strike and vocal cord connection. Nothing wrong with it, you are pleasant to listen to but the music in the background is competing with your tone and lack of volume. You don't need the music, you are good enough without it. Thank you for the information, I appreciate it.

      @@YaleAppliance1 I'd be up for it. Let me know when you start your side channel hustle😉 I just bought the lg washtower to replace my bubble wash samsung dryer and washer (which I also bought after watching your vids). The lint trap sucks compared to the samsung dryer if you have dog and horse hair to contend with on fabrics. The washer is tiny compared to the samsung though supposed to be larger..it's not in size. Need a washer and dryer that can handle king size quilts with ease...still looking. Oh and it took me over 1 hour on the phone with samsung, that's talking time and being put on hold during, to book an appointment for a technician to come and repair it. The process takes far too long. But without your vids I wouldn't have had any confidence or clue to purchase these brands, so thank you so much...and look forward to hearing you sing.with those breathy tones of yours 🤣

    Junk! My second rodeo with LG. Design flaw on lint filtration system. Lint collects under and beside the lint filter causing dangerous buildup. Tonight was the last straw with this 10 month old tower washer/dryer. I spent days the first time cleaning the lint, this is the second time. Obviously the lint is on the heating element this time inside dryer which I cannot access. This is not normal!!! So I will have to call a repairman every 6 months to clean this unit? Oh, I don't think so.
