    2:00 well said. Net earnings after cost of living is accounted for means more than gross earnings

    Very true, even the structural engineer itself has many industries to choose the company work with.
    I ended up to lower some salary to join the field which matches my interests and expertise for the happier improving and working.

    Byron is it a good idea to get my FE in college? Also, what will be the benefits of obtaining a FE? I’m a civil engineer major

    Have you read Charles Marohn's "Confessions of a Recovering Engineer?" As a traffic engineer, I highly suggest you read it and also follow the Strong Towns movement.

    Byron, Im majoring in civil engineering at CSUEB in Hayward. I drive past the Hayward city hall building almost everyday, would you recommend working for the city as a civil/ transportation engineer? Thanks

      The City of Hayward is a great organization and I would definitely recommend it. If it is a great match for you depends on your goals and preferences. Some people don't like the public sector. I would say working for a city is something worth exploring at least once in your career!

    Do you have any tips on college for a civil engineering bachelors? Is online a viable choice for college?

    • @ricky38251
      @ricky38251 Před 6 měsíci +2

      Whatever college you decide, make sure it is ABET accredited.

    • @ByronTang
      @ByronTang  Před 6 měsíci +1

      When I was going to college, the online option wasn't really available. I've been away from the college environment for a while now so I couldn't tell you. I'm hoping someone here could share their experience.

      @@ricky38251 does it make it harder to get a job in the field if the degree is not from an ABET accredited program?
