I feel like he needs a second microphone running alongside the current one at this point
He does that’s why we have audio from the iPhone
@@ccortez392 no, like a second good one
He makes over $40k per video from his Patreon alone and he can't be bothered to spend a couple hundreds for a backup microphone. How can people defend him?
EDIT: STOP SlMPING FOR A LITERAL MILLIONAIRE!

Unironically this channel helped me get over my fear of devaluing collectibles in the name of making myself happy. Learning how to open my old sealed Lego sets and stuff and drown out the screaming of collectors with the joy of actually building them is one of the biggest glowups of my life
Its like not putting miles on a supercar...the good ones are meant to be driven, fast
Love that for ya
Can't you sell the sealed one and get the same one not sealed? You would be able to experience the set while making money out of it and preserving the collectible.
I've never been the type to keep things sealed. I wanna play with them! That's what they're made for! Besides, when you just keep stuff in the box, it means you're going to just sell them later, which means you aren't even in it to enjoy them. Besides, because so many people hang onto in-package copies of stuff to sell later, they aren't going up in price the way they used to.

I still adore the cassette aux adapter thing. I know it's pretty simple how it works, but it still blows my mind! Such a cool little plastic piece of tech history. And hey, CONGRATS on finally getting one of these!
tech history,,,,,, this is my present day lol
I just love how in 2023 I can get in a vehicle from the 90’s and easily connect my device through the tape deck. Working in the car business I’ve just kept a tape deck to 3.5mm adapter and lightening to aux adapter on hand if I ever get stuck driving something of the era.
@@BeesonsCars amusingly, if you want to hook up a music player to a car you're far better off with a 90s car. In the early 2000s they mostly dropped tape decks and had only CD players.... And that was several years before aux inputs came along.
My father in law has an 03 Silverado that surprisingly has a tape deck. He uses a tape deck to 3.5mm adapter plugged into a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter. It's kinda amusing to look at but it works great.
if my last car hadnt gotten totaled last year, id still be usin the old ipod tape--my new car has actual bluetooth and aux but those tapes are heaps useful
@@elijahwatson7837 dude tell me about it. I used to have a Mercedes from the mid 00’s that had a PCMCIA / SD card slot, a 6 disk dvd changer, but no aux or USB. I ended up having the car coded by the dealer to tell the HU it had an aux port and installed it myself. The easiest solution for cars of this era is an FM transmitter, but I’ve yet to hear one that actually sounds “good.”
Man that old ipod marketing/packaging is so nostalgic. Really glad you finally opened this up. And honestly the iphone audio is perfectly acceptable.
Those silhouette commercials and the countless parodies they spawned are very nostalgic.
Well _someone_ is listening out of their iPhone speakers.
Vintage seems to get a more narrow meaning these days. these things are not even 20 years old, how is that vintage?
@@standupstraight9691 They never said the word vintage, did they edit their comment?
This mans cracked open a veritable artifact for us. That's dedication
Que es "veritable"¿?
@@ukargeo it's called an intensifier, it's similar to saying "I'm crazy hungry right now" or "I'm extremely sad they cancelled that show." It's supposed to give more 'weight' or seriousness to what's being discussed. In the use case above, they're saying the ipod that was opened wasn't "just old" but "an ancient artifact" of sorts (obviously elaborating since the iPod is only 20ish years old, and a real artifact would be more like 20 centuries old)
Other words that could be used as intensifiers: completely, highly, utter, authentic, bona fide, indubitable, absolute, total, genuine.
Hope this helps! :]
For anyone who haven't checked out garbage time and the drum thing, if you enjoy dankpods at all you are doing yourself a disservice by not checking those other channels out as I legitimately believe it some of the best content wade has produced in the last few months and I think dankpods is awesome
I was into those channels first and didn't even know this one existed!
I bought the photo way back in 2006 after saving MONTHS of paper round money. That unboxing really bought me back some memories! Thanks Wade!
Paper routes, brings me right back man.
At this point I'm convinced that the tech that people lose over time just gets transported to Cashie's
I love how on the packaging on the screen of the iPod it only says "Don't steal music" in English, but then in German it's super polite being like "Please do not steal music". I dunno I found that kinda funny xD
Anyways, I'm legit surprised by how shiny these iPods used to be. I always thought they were meant to look kinda rough, because that's the only way I've seen those xD

Seriously, bruz, he’s a human being for fucks sake. Do you expect him to have some sort of production team when it’s only him who works on 4 channels, plus a streaming platform? He’s only got his mum and James working for him, everything else is just him.
I dunno if you read your comments but I wanted to give you a quick thank you. I lost one of my nugs recently (My Shrek Green 4th gen one, RIP Pistachio) and needed a replacement, but all the ones I found online were super expensive and weren't even guaranteed to work. I'd never thought to look in Cashies because all the ones around here seem to sell instruments and nothing else, but I thought I'd give it a look and lo and behold I found a 3rd gen nano in the case, scratched up and clearly had been sitting there for a while. The guy let me arm it to check it worked and it went on, the wheel worked so I brought it home! Charged it up and it holds charge like a champ, it connected immediately to my computer and boom. And it only cost me £18! So yeah, thank you for showing me the magic that is Cashies and saving me about £40!
Also that's a 4th gen nano, I tend to have 4th gen and 5th gens around :P
Man when you said you had to get this shipped from way far away, I had sudden flashbacks to when I found your channel. All videos bitching about how the eBay international shipping facility kept just destroying the boxes and sending shit basically in pieces, and then refusing to give refunds.
Its been great watching the channel grow since then.
I share the same amount of excitement as you… I was about 11 when my dad game me his 4th gen. His exact words were “I found this in my workshop you can have this ancient hunk of junk since you like iPods for some reason” sadly the 30 pin broke and the drive died but still 4 months of goodness
I love the “FREE MUSIC!” at 4:46
That’s exactly what he did on the video that he opened a brand new iPod shuffle
Thank you for this - the iPod 4th gen was my first (and only) iPod ever and it still (kinda) works when plugged in! The classic six-pin FireWire cable to Dock Connector cable is also a rarity - it is pretty much impossible to buy a working one anywhere these days!
Love the sound, exactly the kind of quality we expect from this channel
Great video!, hope you and Frank are enjoying yourself!
I can't believe you actually did this. Thank you tho! I've never seen anyone unbox these, didn't even know what the packaging looked like 😂. I've wanted one of those for ages now, but never got my hands on one. There's no need for it anymore, but it would still be cool to own one.
I dont really understand why some think MP3 players are obsolete?
I have an iPhone like every other droog, but I also have an Ipod touch in my car and one in my bedroom. I'll own dedicated MP3 players for as long as they make them.
You have a wonderful low/hum singing voice. And you have a wicked sense of humor. I’m not surprised your channel had blown up cause you have all the makings of being a great entertainer!
But makes you wonder just how exhausted he has to feel after every single video... 🤔😑😖
Man. You go thru so many of these. I want a classic so badly.
I think it's quite amazing the color of that CD-ROM from 2004 is still quite "modern" and pleasing to the eyes.
It feels like this video could be released 2 years ago and I can’t tell the difference, wich is good knowing how good he is since the beginning
its funny cause the cardboard table is where the dock is supposed to be on the high storage models (that actually came with a dock), so they used the same box for all ipod sizes.
I used to work at circuit city back in the day, it was really fun, unboxing customers, iPods, and playing with all of the new models when they came in
I never owned an iPod so I thank you for this experience.
I will excuse the iPhone audio if it means a new dankpods video, keep up the good work Wade! Always happy to see one of your channels pop up on recommended
Very nice! I had this same experience in 2004 or 2005. My first iPod and Apple product was a 4th Gen 20 Gig iPod, that I bought off the apple website, and had engraved.
5:16 i'm amazed that such a comparatively modern os still recognizes content created for a much older computer. like, it's not just a generic "unsupported" error
9:32 as allways each time he says "na-no" i laugh
"Nice to have the honor of devaluing you and then still not using you."
Hits hard for some people.
!!!!! Fun video! My first iPod was an iPod mini (not sure if it was first or second gen), my mom bought it for me between 2004-2005, took it every day to middle school, and I loved that thing. I used it for years until it stopped working and my mom bought me an iPod touch first gen (or maybe second gen), it was so groundbreaking and awesome back then.
9:34 4th gen. nano. I 'had' to use one of those in high school after I accidentally washed my 3rd gen. touch and was waiting to get that replaced. The monochrome 4th gen. classic is easily my favorite physical design. I do wish it sounded like either the 3rd or 5th gen., but those extra smooth edges, that comparatively giant clickwheel, the screen-that-doesn't-need-a-backlight-in-moderate-daylight, charging and syncing over FireWire _or_ USB, and centered headphone jack are wonderful. But especially the clickwheel - only one that feels 'correctly' sized for me.
Always warms my heart seeing frank ❤
YES I DID IT, I’ve had watch every single one (except your aftershow episodes, no money) of your Dankpods videos with in a week and what a prefect timing for me to finished it off with a brand new video.
And wow what an adventure I had, knowing all the family members and inside jokes in this channel, oh and even the watch every ad that show up, to try to say here’s my way of helping. And even went through a phase of first enjoying, then getting annoyed to then back to loving scarlet fire
Oh you frank!
ayy had the same experience a few weeks ago, it was a wild ride!
you can pull the american plug off the brick and swap it out for an aus one or use a normal ac cable.
there is also a locating lug the holds the plug in place that can also double as a bottle opener
God this brings back so many memories love the channel brother thanks for the nostalgia 💪🏽🙏🏽

I appreciate your composition and framing. When I clicked on the video it was buffering so the CZcams loading circle was spinning around the Apple logo on the iPad perfectly. You had that thing dead center in the frame.
I remember going to a small electronics store in the middle east, this town was pretty remote, and on the shelf were still in the package Ipod shuffles and Ipod videos........ safe to say that guy didn't really move much inventory.

Still have my 4th gen box and remember the unboxing like it was yesterday. Those were magical times for sure.
my dad had this sick ipod dock. It split out the 30 pin into a 30 pin port for a charger and a 3.5mm port. It also had a IR receiver for an apple remote and you could control it remotely which was sick at the time IMO. The apple remote was supported on the macs my dad used for years after which was cool too
I am so pumped that this video has come out, possibly the best dankpods iPod video to date? You decide!

The attack of the iPhone mic
I believe my first nano was a gen 1. I adored that thing, with all 4 of it's gigs. It didn't hold *all* of my music even back then, but it held all of Bis, AC/DC, and Incubus's catalog so i was fairly well set.
Last year I swapped out my daily iPod 7th Gen Classic for the 4th gen (mainly for nostalgia reasons) and I love it to bits. The display is definitely my favourite thing about it!
You should charge it to 60% before putting it back, the battery seems to still be good but that's not gonna last if you leave it to discharge even further.
My first was a 4th gen Nano. I had sonic the hedgehog 1 on there and got so good, that I was able to beat the entire game hitless, with the clickwheel controls
Sadly a teacher confiscated it for like a week, and then someone stole it from the teacher's stash of confiscated stuff. I still wanna cry about it to this day. Was the first time I ever had a music player that wasn't a filthy nugget, and I lost it due to a teacher's power tripping ;~;
I actually worked at an Apple store when the mini had just come out, and I remember going to the back, seeing the massive boxes the big iPods came in and thinking how special these things must be to come in packaging like that!
6:00 you can get replacement duck heads for different countries you can also get six extender cables. It's a weird little connector but I haven't seen anything that works as well as it. Of course I'm not counting the folding prongs from the US socket variant which tend to wear out and arc.
Is this the ultimate unboxing you've been teasing us with for years
I've got a 20gb 4th Gen with a dead drive. Need to find a good one eventually. Because I'd like to fix it.
My car is a 2004 Lincoln LS, the same year as my 4th gen. And Was specifically targeted at the same demographic as the Ipod, so having the two just feels right to me.
Funny thing is tho, car has no USB ports or a headphone jack, despite being advertised at the younger generations at the time.
It's really cool that the homie has worked hard enough and got far enough on yt that he was able to fulfill one of his curiosities and not have to worry too much about the value he lost on the item
1:40 ahhhh 2019 and 2020 dankpods videos makes me shed a tear every time I watch them. So much nostalgia.

My right ear really loved this episode 💀
When everyone is striking packaging in their products for the "environment", seeing products packed with accessories is refreshing
Honestly I don’t see how designing packaging that has to have a bunch of stuff printed off for it and has to be shipped probably separately and otherwise for everything else you used to get in the box is any better for the environment. If they included the adapter and headphones they wouldn’t need to print separate boxes off for those.
You can be not wasteful and also include accessories. The wasteful part is all the little plastic bits you immediately throw away.
That takes me back, a 40GB 4G was my first iPod, even came with a dock!
Hey man! Really like your content. Your aussie way of explaining things really resonates with my brain. I've been looking for a comprehensive review of the Kraken V3 headset from Razer (the base V3s, not the hypersense ones) but I couldn't find one that suits my taste.

I still remember with full clarity unboxing my 3rd gen in 2003. It was magical.
I got my 5th gen in 2005 and it’s still chugging along with a new battery and SD mod. It came in a box that wasn’t cartoonishly huge, though.
@@CantankerousDave Mine came in a huge box but it came with a little case, a dock, charger and cable, and an inline remote/cord extension. My 6th gen was in a tiny box with a cable. I honestly missed getting all the accessories.
Dank! you do know the US part of the plug comes off - you could buy the international pack and have plugs for tons of regions. I even used the extension from my mac charger to charge my iPod Video back in the day!
Man I missed the iPod content, it was the reason I subbed all those years ago but I still watch every video on every channel as soon as it comes out because I just love the content
hell yes, the 4th gen classic is my favourite too! the b&w display, not the photo one. it’s just super cool.
This is the exact size and model of ipod I first purchased in 2004. My dad got me to work with him over the school holidays and I spend me earnings on this bad boy and it was amazing. Great memories.

Man its amazing how clean those look new im only used to the beat up crappy ones cause could never afford one back then, always wanted on though, would always pass them by in the store and go darn i want one so bad and leave disappointed not having the cash to get one
Don't feel too bad, iPods look the same whether they're a day old or a year old. Put it in your pocket without a case and it's over, scratched to hell and back. Even with a case it'll still get scuffed.
I'm digging the audio upgrade. Definitely adds to the dank.
This was my first iPod, I was 19, uni student, saved up all year, and split the cost for a Christmas present with my dad and girlfriend at the time, such great memories!
That’s also my favorite “classic” iPod model, 4th gen with monochrome display. Mine also has flash card inside connected with adapter (64GB). It even has HP logo on back. Never owned one brand new, fixed broken ones from eBay. When an iPod just played audio, no photos, no videos, no apps…
Oh I use to have that bug quite a bit (had mine for almost a decade). You just need to hard reset it and it should be fine after that
7:10 we in the biz call this going to sleep coz sometimes we can bring them back... sort of... they do tend to have severely reduced capacity if successful.
My very first ipod was the original nano that my dad found in the lost and found box at the school he worked at. But talk about game changer for how I listened to music especially since I was using a cd player at the time.
Those old 30 pin connector cables were built different they lasted a lot longer than a lightening cable ever could.
Glad being early in a dankpods video. I really hope the mic quality is the same as every other video!
The best part of Thursday is your uploads thanks man!
6:22. That would be me singing when I get a new phone. All of them are nuggets!
The "splotches" on the screen are most likely due to the battery starting to expand and its pushing the lcd into the plastic cover. As crazy as it sounds it might be worth replacing it before it inevitably breaks the lcd.
