So... this is THE LEGEND - new version (rev4) of the first polyphonic synth with preset memories - The PROPHET-5!
What to say... so many old and new records were recorded with this synth, it's created by synth pioneer Dave Smith (who created MIDI too) and it sounds spectacular. I just try to imagine how people reacted to this synth back in 1977.! It's amazing.
I was so interested in how VINTAGE knob react when you change Prophet-5's revision modes (from rev1 to rev4) - it's really interesting and sounds different. In rev1 mode P5 sounds more archaic with, fex., slightly different decay on keys - this remind me that my Jupiter 4 (1978) reacted at the same way.
All sounds are recorded directly from Prophet-5 to Tascam DR-05x recorder in 24bit/96kHz resolution, without any FX processing.
Sequential Prophet 5 specifications:
- Velocity sensitive 61-key Fatar keyboard with aftertouch
- 200 Factory programs, 200 User memory
- 2 CEM 3340 VCOs per voice
- Simultaneously selectable waveforms of oscillators A and B.
- Oscillator A: sawtooth, square / Oscillator B: sawtooth, triangle, rectangle
Pulse width per oscillator
- Hard Sync: Oscillator 1 sync to oscillator 2
- 5 note polyphony
- Four-pole, resonant low-pass filter per voice
- Switchable between authentic versions of the filter Prophet-5 Rev1 / 2 and the filter Prophet-5 Rev3
- Four-stage (ADSR) envelope generator
- Vintage Knob for setting various Prophet 5 models - e.g. the behavior of oscillators, envelopes, amplifiers and other parameters

Amazing how Dave smith got this thing so right in the 70s when it was his first synth design. It really has never been bettered.

@@lucasc5622 Except having great raw sound. OB-6 comes close to rawness in own unique way thanks to SEM filters and it is collaboration of Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith. Rev2 despite being analogue, having DCO, it sounds thin. Polybrute also. Even on CZcams, lossy audio qualit you can hear fatness of rev4 and OB-6, nothing can match subtractive synth with full analogue path and discrete VCO.
