I trained at Mojo’s Flight School in North Carolina. I fly the Ozone sirocco paraglider. My paramotor is the PAP Tinox with with a Vittorazi moster, 185 engine. Questions? Hit me up at paramotorNC@gmail.com
One of the great things about paramotoring is the variety of flight styles that you can do. It can be as peaceful as sitting in a chair on the porch watching the sunrise or sunset, except at altitude. It can also be as challenging as you want to make it with XC, acro, slalom, etc. Even working on the basic skills such as precision launches and landings is fun. There's also the freedom to take-off from places other than airports, and on your own schedule!
I'm surprised paramotors are still largely unknown, it's the coolest thing ever. You can basically FLY with a device that costs a few thousand dollars, and it's not as hard as learning how to fly a plane or helicoptor. I guess the only limiting thing is where you live and if you have open fields like this.
the price is thebiggest hurdle. the second is that since its not a gun, the news doesnt care about it to report about it, unless hamad uses them but not for long. Just long enough to make people associate it with terrorism.
I live in South Africa, a "third world country" falling apart... But hey, what they can do is making regulations and laws. We do need a licence and it's effing expensive in South African terms... 😢
Anyone who wants to learn more about the regulations that govern ultralight vehicles, you can look up 14 CFR Part 103, which is section of rules that regulate ultralights (and is also sometimes used as a shorthand for ultralight aircraft).
Yes. But you don’t have to prove you know how to fly a drone to get your certificate. Isn’t that wonderful. Also ultra light aircraft pilots, part 103 don’t need ID numbers of any kind on their aircraft, don’t need to register them.Don’t need to take an any online TRUST testing.
@@starsixtyseven195that's all! They need money every turn u make. License to add on to your house or build a shed of certain size. English is such a weird language lol old knees referring to your young knees in past hence. “Old knees” in this context is the opposite of your new, “old knees” 😂 🤔
A lot stricter here in Germany. You cannot simply start or land anywhere you want, no matter how spacious. You need a license and an official airfield or private meadow that has been licensed under strict conditions with annual/semiannual renewal, as well as a semiannual inspection for your wing. A reserve parachute is mandatory, as well as radio for any potential flight control checks. And you need to be strictly aware about the abundant no-fly and restriction zones in the area you want to fly in. EDIT: speaking of privately owned meadows, in most german states, you won't get them licensed even if you fulfill all the requirements as the states won't permit it. And the airfields rarely tolerate paragliders
The next school teaching paragliding on foot is 2 1/2 hours away from me. The nearer ones teach on trike but that ramps up the cost, despite shorter travel time
Most points of failure statistically lie with the pilot. Get your license, act on it's teachings, be aware of weather, gear, personal wellbeing before and during the flight and your limitations and you've erased 95% of failure points of every paramotor crash
First, your question refers to paragliding (PG), not paramotoring or powered paragliding (PPG), which is a very different sport than shown in the video. That out of the way, "can you train in the city or do you need a wide open space?" Yes, you can do some training in the city, if you have a wide open space, like a park. With enough room away from people and objects to move, and a clear path for the wind (trees and buildings cause turbulence) you could work on your kiting skills and equipment care. I would recommend going to a school for whichever sport you are interested in. As you learn the skills you will get a good idea of what makes for a good training area, and what doesn't, and then decide if the area you have in mind is appropriate. At school you should be using their equipment, so it's a try before you buy situation. Worst case scenario, it's a fun vacation!
Ultralights (including trikes) are limited to a single occupant according to FAR Part 103. The only exception is for certified instructors giving a discovery flight. If you would like to take a passenger, then you will want to look at other aircraft such as a powered parachutes (which will require a sport pilot license and N-number). I am not sure of the cost of license and certification of light sport aircraft.
The canopy has an unbelievable amount of passive safety built-in. It will naturally reinflate. If you have enough altitude, there will be no issue. Plus I fly with a reserve chute.
With staying out of congested airspace, would that limit me from flying around my local area? My area isnt close to any major airspace, but would that limit me from flying a mile or so aroumd the area?
There’s a website called sky vector where you can see the air space anywhere in the US. You may need to ask a pilot to help you interpret the notations on the map.
@@Mark_Rutten Yes, we are trained to land at point throughout the flight if the motor fails. We simply glide down to the ground. We also carry a reserve parachute (mine is in a side pouch).

Flying near the mountains is beautiful. However, wind moving over mountainous terrain can result in more turbulent conditions than the same wind over flat land. So we are cautious near mountains while flying. Also, farm land tends to provide more land-able options in case the motor stops running (we would glide down safely).

In your opinion, if you were trapped in a dense city, can you train to paraglide in the city or do you need a lot of empty space?
Are you asking this for personal use, or are you asking this in the context of 7th Oct attack?
Depending on wind, and how wide the stairwell or elevator is, all you need is the roof and 20-40 feet flat without obstructions
