  • A remote island in the sea near Japan.
The shrine is on the cliff.
There used to be a man who jumped into the sea from the shrine grounds.
    He intended to die.
But a few days later he was found lying on the beach in Japan.
    The man was alive.
    He spoke this way.
"I dreamed, a giant creature saved my life."
No one has visited the shrine anymore.

I mean, there's no 'dialogue' in it, just the very soft generic atmosphere music. The only words are the captions for supplies the artist occasionally puts up, and they don't speak those out loud either. So our deaf friends are not missing anything in that regard. I watch them muted at work and also thoroughly enjoy them. Truly enjoyable, relaxing, and inspiring, for all of us!

I like to imagine that this large creature would come every so often to admire and examine the people who visited his home, relishing the warm glow of kindness, respect, and peace they would bring to his domain. However, the temple has long been without visitors and everyday he pokes his head out the water, hoping, riddled with longing to see, to feel once again a glimpse of the light and warmth that used to florish here at this now sad, deserted memory...

To my dearest, my deepest secret: are you well? I saw you a couple times today. Four times, really. You tried too hard to make meeting me to be real, little do you know we had already seen each other in our dreams. I tried to go to where you are. If you know? My spirit looked for you from one place to another, in that shinning city you lived in. Maybe I am crazy liked you told me, but the craziest thing for our mind is to believe that this so called reality we see now with this body on earth, is even real. Where do we really exist? I don’t love for your face, don’t love you for your wealth. Maybe it was the wish you made before, to me that to be together, But it never came. So I know, even death cannot pull us apart. Seeing you once is enough for my life time as I am existing in this body, for this time. Eternity is easily said, but who is. Doing it?

It looks like a Shinto shrine of the Heian period. I think the guardian was a koi-sized creature living in a pond in the imperial grounds, and the boy who would grow up to be emperor Kanmu was his main friend. The boy would bring him food from his own table, go swimming with it, and even come down to the pond with his homework to do it there by his friend. Later, the emperor had a home built in a secret spot so he could get away from the burgeoning politics and court intrigue of the time - down by the coast. He brought his friend there, and would sit on the deck at the local shrine in the middle of the night, long after the Shinto devotees had gone home for the night, and talk with his friend - well, talk at his friend, but he liked to imagine that his friend could understand and sympathise. While having a midnight dip with his friend one time, he remembered his father talking about a magnificent horse and addressing it as a 'noble beast,' and the young Kanmu decided to call his friend Kōkina-kemono. The noble beast still remembers his young friend, and surfaces in that spot on the occasional dark night. Perhaps one of Kanmu's heirs will visit the spot some day, and the bond between Kōkina-kemono and the Kanmu family will blossom again?

The end results may differ, but if you pay attention you'll see some great techniques you can use in other things. How to make believable trees, for example. How to create the skeleton of, and add scales to, a clay model. The method of making grass for terrain. The method and care you need to put into the tiled roof of a model house. How to make certain that your model is as close to perfectly square as possible.
Practising each of the techniques he shows brings this kind of complicated diorama a step closer, one model at a time. All it takes is practice, focus and dedication.
However: None of this would have even occurred to me. The amount of small detail and care that went into this model is astounding.

I'm going down the rabbit hole today with these resin art dioramas, and I will say the neatest apart about this person's art is how accessible they make it. Just using supplies you can fairly cheaply get, and not all the expensive tools and 3D printers and sponsored supplies that many other artists are given or otherwise have. If someone really wanted to make this, and had the patience, they could at least try, or be inspired by this persons craftwork to do similar things.

Even if there are probably people out there who might have some better technique It will only be a handful and THOSE people would never look down on someone able to create the things you do...
