Given that your channel is tailored to people of colour, I do think it is important that you use certain scientific epithets with greater caution. For instance, within your introduction in this video, you stated that most cosmetics on the market are manufactured by the west for Caucasian people. As a doctor you surely must be endowed with the gen necessary to elude the common misconception that Caucasian people are all "white". In fact Caucasian people would include peoples from N. Africa, Western Asia and South Asia - which would thus include your native origin. Consequently you too are Caucasian but not "white." Given your platform and focus on colour, I believe it to be an obligation almost, to deter from the spread of misinformation by providing accurately educational content.
I wanted to take the time to say thank you. You have enriched us with honest and knowledgeable information that we have lacked for way too long. Thank you for your effort.

I came here from Dr. Dray’s review on this brand. It would be so cool to have you two discuss sunscreen as you both have your individual perspectives, experience etc.
I really enjoyed this video and the detail you put into it. The only thing i will disagree with is how much kids care about the white cast from sunscreen. I personally remember as a child refusing to wear sunscreen because of how it looked and by the time i could make my own choices made the horrible decision to stray away from it (im not as old as i make myself sound lol only 20). This was and is still a common complaint i hear from kids and adults alike, i know people to this day who dont like sunscreen because of the misconception that whitecast is the only option.
Just discovered your page today as I was actually looking to buy La Roche Posay’s sunscreen after getting recommendation from a friend.. thank you for explaining it so clearly and in a fun way despite the myriad of information!
I love your channel and have learned so much and finally someone to talk about skin of color. Can you please review Honest beauty and Hado Labo products? Thank you
Thank you, So relieved that you made this review. I used to used it and noticed that dried, dehydrated my skin, my skin felt tight as i had been exposed to a fireplace it felt very irritated. I could not continue using, althought i got combination skin and normally i always do produce oils after 2 hours of applying other suncream brands. my favorite is dermatologica so far.

Hi! I'm a black woman who has struggled with acne for the longest time... however I've noticed great improvement with LA ROCHE 😊😊😊😊it's been the absolute best so far 👌
I appreciate your videos and its so eye opening. I want to limit my dark spots but didn’t have an idea of all the dangers I was facing and unintentionally making it worse. I have a sample of Anthelios 50 mineral tinted and I’m looking at it like: if it wasn’t for this video just reading mineral I would’ve been confident trying it 😫
Dr. V thank you so much, finally an answer to my questions! I am a lupus patient and needed sunscreen badly because sun really irritates my skin even just our lamp in the house and I couldn't find a real good sunscreen for my skin that is not adding irritation and burn to my skin. I akways see and hear about this La roche and somewhat convinced me, I did bought actually but it leave my skin so itchy, even their moisturizers did the same to my skin, I thought they are very good because of all this mktg things. No way, never again. Thank you sooo muchhh!!!! 💕💕💕😥

I'm fair/light and i suffer from melasma but all the things you say and recomend for women of colour i think it applies to my sensitive skin. Thank you for your great and informative videos. Keep up the good work.
Hi Dr. V! You’re videos have been nothing short of amazing. Love how informative they are! What do you think of the Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion and Avene spf 50 mineral fluid ?
@@vanitarattan would love a review on this one as well it has Zinc. I'm specifically looking for a physical sunscreen that's affordable. The ones you mentioned are sadly not readily available in North America. Neutrogena Face Sunscreen SPF 50, Ultra Sheer Dry Touch, Non-comedogenic www.amazon.ca/Neutrogena-Sunscreen-Ultra-Non-comedogenic-Resistant/dp/B07KF4WVFS
that’s because there is nothing horribly wrong with the products....if you have dry skin and can’t tolerate denatured alcohol then def don’t use. they have non fragranced options which is always good.
@@2015kevinf Not really about tolerating the product but denatured alcohol is stripping to skin and eventually will impact your skin over time particularly your skin barrier.
fungirl0123456 the scientific literature just doesn’t support this. the lipids in the stratum corneum are left unchanged after the alcohol dries immediately. unless your skin barrier is already compromised or you are dry, you should not really have much problem. many products have denat alcohol that - when applied - are moisturizing to the skin. additionally alcohol denat acts acts to increase the penetration of active ingredient, which you may or may not want to avoid. for example fragrance with the alcohol can increase the likelihood of irritation. however LRP offers fragrance free options of almost every product and the UVA protection is among the highest.
@@2015kevinf La Roche Posay along with Vichy has the best suncreen on the market. Here in Europe are the most loved and sold suncreen, and for a good reason. Plus Anthelios has a physical sunscreen line, the chemical one is just an option.
Such great information. Thank you!! I have been using the ultra light (first product reviewed) for the past 7 months! Will definitely be switching as soon as I can get my hands on another face sunscreen. :/
Thank so much for all the info... PLEASE can u make a review on EUCERIN Sunscreen PIGMENT CONTROL for hyperpigmentation. would it really help diminish hyperpigmentation. What are your fave sunscreen. Thank you in advance.
I use the anthelios one with no alcohol because i believe the PPD rating is high. I have white skin with lots of sun damage. I’m new to your channel so will look for more SPF content that you’ve done. Thank you for sharing your brilliant knowledge 😊
I had such a bad reaction using this sunscreen last week. My whole face came up with hives and eyes got swollen. I had just started using Paulas choice retinol + Bakuchiol and everything was going fine. As soon I I used this sunscreen the next morning, the skin reacted to it. So it makes sense now. Thank you Dr V for sharing with us this vital info.
Wow, I feel so understood! As I really wanted to like LRP sunscreens and tried Shaka, Anthelios, the Mineral, and UVmune because most dermatologists recommend it. Hated the alcohol that dried out my skin, hated the perfume, had stinging in my eyes.... not for me.
I would really love a video on a top 10 mineral (or even chemical), non-tinted sunscreens without Denatured Alcohol, that do not leave a cast for dark skin. I have looked through all of my sunscreens and they all have denatured alcohol. And I have yet to find a readily available mineral sunscreen available in Europe that does not leave a cast on dark skin. Tinted sunscreen especially during all this mask wearing is not preferable at all.
Have you tried the IMAGE skincare prevention daily matte moisturizer? Its non tinted, mineral, no den. alcohol and its SPF 32. It leaves no white cast (I have medium dark skin)
I use the invisible fluid because it's the only sunscreen that doesn't have perfume, doesn't leave me looking like a ghost, and doesn't sting my eyes. Also, the options are limited in my country, and online shopping taxes are really expensive. I guess I'll stick with it. I'm tired of looking for a sunscreen.
Same here The La Roche-Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF50+ has been the only sunscreen that has been good for my skin, not greasy, does not sting and just has a flawless finish....I am so so tired of buying sunscreens. I will stick with this one 😩🙌🏿🙌🏿
@@vasanthazulu1045 Please help I have gotten eczema prone skin and having very visible hyperpigmentation right now will this product work for me I have sensitive skin
If it has chemical filters, don't settle. There are many mineral-only sunscreens to have little to no white cast, and no irritants like fragrances. Dr. V's own Inzincable sunscreen has no white cast

who’s product you used
Hi Dr. V! You’re videos have been nothing short of amazing. Love how informative they are! What do you think of the Aveeno daily moisturizing lotion and Avene spf 50 mineral fluid ?
I need to investigate this for you xxx
Dr. Vanita Rattan The Hyperpigmentation Clinic That would be awesome ! Thank you ☺️
@@vanitarattan would love a review on this one as well it has Zinc. I'm specifically looking for a physical sunscreen that's affordable. The ones you mentioned are sadly not readily available in North America. Neutrogena Face Sunscreen SPF 50, Ultra Sheer Dry Touch, Non-comedogenic
www.amazon.ca/Neutrogena-Sunscreen-Ultra-Non-comedogenic-Resistant/dp/B07KF4WVFS
Thank you. I've had POC dermatologists recommend this line of sunscreen.
same here!
that’s because there is nothing horribly wrong with the products....if you have dry skin and can’t tolerate denatured alcohol then def don’t use. they have non fragranced options which is always good.
I always buy Japanese and Korean sunscreen, I find that most don't have a white cast and are great for coloured skin
I tried them and it made my skin burn. She’s right
The speed at which I clicked this video!!!
haha- AMAZING!
The first one you showed of La roche sunscreen break me out and make my hypertension even worst
I hope you meant hyperpigmentation and not high blood pressure
Thank goodness I found your channel!!!!🙏🙌🙏🙌🙏🙌
Such great information. Thank you!! I have been using the ultra light (first product reviewed) for the past 7 months! Will definitely be switching as soon as I can get my hands on another face sunscreen. :/
Can you review Krave beauty?! I think you’ll enjoy their sunscreen :)
Please review Hado Labo products, especially the white gel SPF!
Most welcome x
I had such a bad reaction using this sunscreen last week. My whole face came up with hives and eyes got swollen. I had just started using Paulas choice retinol + Bakuchiol and everything was going fine. As soon I I used this sunscreen the next morning, the skin reacted to it. So it makes sense now. Thank you Dr V for sharing with us this vital info.
Sounds like an actual allergic reaction 😬 hope you managed to find a sunscreen that works for you
@@DrAlchem01 yes ultimately I found the one ! It’s Colorscience sunscreen and I just love it ! Been using it since 10months and absolutely love it ! 💕
Hi Dr V, could you do a Hada Labo brand review, specifically their sunscreen which is called: UV white Gel. thanks!!
Omg I just wrote this exact comment. This is the SPF I use and I love it but would love to know if she thinks it is good enough sun protection.
Hado labo brilliant Japanese skincare is gold standard 🙏
Could you do a review on the KraveBeauty spf and Khiel’s ultrafacial moisturiser spf 30 please
Excellent video. Thank you for your hard work. We appreciate you!!!!!
Sun block mineral sunscreen from eco cosmetics is great.
Have you tried the IMAGE skincare prevention daily matte moisturizer? Its non tinted, mineral, no den. alcohol and its SPF 32. It leaves no white cast (I have medium dark skin)
Yessss agreed

If it has chemical filters, don't settle. There are many mineral-only sunscreens to have little to no white cast, and no irritants like fragrances. Dr. V's own Inzincable sunscreen has no white cast
@@carpediemearth shipping is EXPENSIVE. At this point im ready to settle. Of i find something GREAT, if not🤷🏽♀️😩
