Call it whatever you want it’s a shotgun made in turkey with the Winchester name slapped on the side of it. Compared to the older ones they’ll never have any collector value or resale value on it worth anything. The true statement is Winchester was a household name at one time but not anymore. Now days, I would say go with a Mossberg at least they’re made here in the U.SA.

And don't be afraid of the Turkish manufacturing, I've had 2 shotguns (one pump, one semi-auto) that were made by turkish companies and they took all the crummy weather and hard use I could throw at them and were always ready to go. I've also owned 4 Caniks at various times. I put over 4,000 rounds through a TP9SFX without a major failure.

It's a heat shield, not a handle, it has nothing to do with adding grip, it's to shield the barrel from you accidentally touching it while it is hot. I don't know where you heard that Fudd lore, but if you handle a 1917 trenchgun you'd realize quite quickly it isn't for adding grip.

My bedside shotgun is an sxp. Not the trench gun, but still an sxp. I bought it because of its feel. Went into Academy and handles several other popular 12 gauges in the similar category. What I loved the most is how it fit my hands and it pumps like buttuh! Not a lot of jiggle. Actually none. And I added a glow sight over the bb sight, an extra round holder on the side, and a bigger but pad , however honestly not super necessary. It feels nice right out of the box. It’s a self defense gun. I don’t care how it performs in extreme abuse or a burn down challenge. It has been reliable so far and feels custom made for me. It rapid fires so smoothly. I think it pushes a bit over its price point. It’ll do what you need it to do.

Steve from TargetFocusedLife has used these Winchester pump action shotguns.
There is no need to doubt the quality of this particular product just because of the country of manufacture.
The number of shots Steve could have fired is and his knowledge and skills are on a completely different level compared to TFB James mentioned in many comments, whose image includes mocking Turkish shotguns. It is true that some manufacturers in that country make cheap, low-quality copies. In the case of Winchester, it is not a question of a cheap copy, but the production is distributed in cheaper countries.

I just bought a Win 20ga SXP High Grade Field for skeet and upland birds and it is a really nice gun. Flawless in every way and the High Grade means I paid a little more for better wood and it is fantastic. I owned three Win 1300s in the past and this new gun is as good as those that were made here. It was only $360 on sale but also had a $50 rebate so a great deal too. Not better than the US made but just as good and less money.

Similar to the discontinued 1300. I know this is based on the original trench gun design which I love, but I don’t like when the forearm moves over the receiver on cocking. The receiver on my 1300 developed crazy wear marks due to this design. For the price though this gun is irresistible.

*What would have really made this SG great, is if they would have made a "Trench Gun" clone.*
*That means make it with a bayonet lug and include an authentic looking bayonet, also; the action should throw lead by holding down the trigger, and pumping out each shell.*
*This really is just a cool looking, well built shotgun, at a great value price.* 💥💥💥💥💥🤠

I had an SXP, but I couldn't get used to the bolt being kicked back on its own. I was always trying to pump it back when it would already be back. I'm not saying it was a bad design, just I couldn't get used to it. I guess i'm just old and not easily adjusted to new stuff.

Definitely a bargain at that price ! Can’t go wrong with that ! I’d like to see how well it groups slugs at 40-50 yards with a set of XS Ghost Ring sights on it. I’ll bet it would do as well as any smooth bore cylinder shotgun

Nice looking 12. Does the foregrip move backward when shot? part of the "inertia assist"? Is that normal for a pump action? Not sure I'd like the grip moving back, until I rack.

  • @crankygunreviews

I’m loving these retro builds that companies are doing! I’ve made generic shotguns look like tranch guns or at least riot shotguns even before the retrograde Mossbergs came out. I think people are realizing as much as a gun is good as a tacticaool machine, there is something soooo good about walnut and steel.
Hopefully the quality control on these is good because many Turkish shotguns are just crap
The trigger guard shape is very Turkish… not very cool. But again, if it functions well, I’d let a few things like that go

Oh how the mighty have fallen.
I made it about 5 seconds into the video before I was so disgusted with winchesters mismatched bluing and grinding marks on the heat shield that I had to stop watching. If its that bad on the parts you can see I doubt the quality inside is any better than a m3 grease gun. I'll pass.

Did Winchester fix the issue with the soft SXP hammers? I had two models (field and camp), and both hammers peened badly within a few hundred rounds from striking the firing pin. Any improvements do you know?

Far too many gun shops do not carry the Winchester products and here’s why… Now that it’s made in turkey, getting parts can take several months for some reason and this has been the case for a very long time… Hence why so many gun shops will not carry Winchester. Also, none of the parts are interchangeable with the model 1300 even though it closely resembles the model 1300. They should’ve kept production of the shotguns and lever actions here in the United States. I am waiting for the day when Henry will finally come out With a 12 gauge pump action shotgun.

The original trench gun after scwezzong the trigger and holding it then pump the shotgun on the forward slide and still holding the trigger in fire pulled positon the shotgu. Would automaticly fire and just keep pumping the shotgun and it would fire without haveing to repulling the trigger . Dose this turkish shotgun have the same advantage
