- First look at Bokeh Game Studio's new game, Slitterhead from the creator of Silent Hill. This game goes back to the creator's roots after leaving the Silent Hill project to make his own studio in Japan. Slitterhead was revealed during the 2021 Game Awards Livestream.
I think it's safe to say that this one is taking the horror angle in a different direction than Silent Hill.
There's actually some info before this was revealed hitting it wouldn't be horror but use horror as the theme. Or have horror elements. I think an action game.

this is no horror. this is comedy. compared to silent hill this looks like a parody
The final zoom-in with the plane just barely sailing over the tightly packed buildings looks like a Walled City of Kowloon inspired setting, which is AWESOME. So hyped.

oh alright, this looks cool. I was expecting something atmospheric and violent just like the silent hill games, but this is more stylized. I'll wait and see until it comes out.

Same! I´m kind of hoping for a kind of Resident Evil 6 in a more interesting, serious, generally better and a bit more horror focused direction.

The setting is purely based on the Kowloon Wall City in Hong Kong.
This looks like If Re4 and Silent Hill made a Devil May game, and it honestly looks interesting
I would have said Silent Hill + Left 4 Dead using a similar concept to Dead Space

I'm equally if not more excited for the soundtrack. Akira Yamaoka is a magnificent composer and musician.

Man, as much lighthearted Gravity Rush was with it's vibe and characters, they did have its own messed up moments, I'm all for Toyama's new game.
Guys please for the love of God do not interpret this as a silent hill spiritual successor or anything like that of the sorts. Let's support these devs in there pursuit of something brand new!
As excited as I am that Keiichiro Toyama gives it another shot at a horror game, I need to see more before I´m on board. Right now this looks more like an action game with horror elements rather than a psychological horror that I was hoping for.
I think the fact it mentions silent hill at the beginning of the trailer didn’t help. Expected the dirt.
I can see why you were expecting psychological horror but I don’t think he wanted to create any silent hill copies anymore. It’s good that he’s doing something different that separates him from silent hill.

Mimics in the Kowloon walled city, I was wondering why they tore it down in the 90s. Well, that, and having 3 times the population density of New York with no laws whatsoever. It was a place where you could get ramen across from your unlicensed dentist, before going to bed in your half a studio apartment on the 12th floor. They’d probably put more rooms above the original fort, but the free spirits and conmen agreed planes from the nearby airport shouldn’t be obstructed by janky structures. In short, I would have loved to visit, but I wouldn’t want to live there. But hey, no laws means no taxes, so I see the appeal.
It’s nice to see that after all these years, Toyama isn’t just doing Silent Hill again. I love that series to death, but this looks like a very refreshing take. Hope the actual game lives up to this trailer.

With Toyama's track record of nothing but bangers, I can't help but be really optimistic here. And especially after how terrible a lot of recent big name horror games have been like The Medium and the Remothered duology, I honestly have high hopes here that the all star team they have here is gonna show them how it's done.
Edit: I'm probably just huffing copium here and it's just gonna be a medicore action game. But gosh I just wanna see a good horror game again.
Hearing that "The Medium" is bad is a first for me :O But yeah, disappointed the 2nd Remothered game didn't turn out great. But also don't forget Tormented Souls ;) That one was refreshing as well, imo, after such a long time without such Survival Horror games.

So, gone is the subtle, other-worldy horror of Silent Hill and now we have this. This is good. I'm okay with new.

Silent Hill is long dead
Looking back, it seems like the game has always been like that.
Here it pushes the horror element far more. The trailer we got today didn’t feel nearly as close. The opening scene of the detective shining his light on the body fit the horror. After that, it completely changed tones. Unfortunately, it was enough for me to lose interest. Maybe you’ll still enjoy it though.
I was hoping for a bit more atmosphere, of course the transformations are amazing and creative but I miss that desolate, isolated cold feeling from the first silent hill. This feels more Resident Evil 6 if it were an actually good horror game.
Agreed I just really want a straight horror game silent hill again. Silent hills looked so promising. Its cancelation was the worst gaming related news for me last decade because I fell in love with pt.

Glad to know that the creator of the original Silent Hill games & Siren games hasn't left from creating new horror games. Altough I am suprised by the action vibe the game might have. Hopefully there will be some scary moments like their previous works had.
Are they seriously going to start the trailer with mention of Silent Hill and proceed to show this action fest? I'll try to be optimistic and hope it turns out good, but it's giving me big RE6 vibes.

I've been waiting for one since DMC1. None of the sequels had the same vibe and it's a huge shame. DMC1 is one of my fav games of all time

I don't know, I was a little dissapointed that it wasn't Silent Hill, but I'm actually kind of intrigued on where it's going to go. Transformations reminded me of Parasite Eve/Dead Space. If it's a psychotic action horror I'm kinda down

@@h_crow221 ah I am afraid not, that is the Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. you can see the place flying over the buildings ready to land on the Kowloon Kai Tak Airport. all those buildings and the airport have been demolished long ago though.

Just to friendly reminder: The crew who did old Silent Hill and Siren confirmed that they created a new studio and decided to make a hack n slash game
Despite I love their concept art but ... the gameplay could disappointed me. But I guess it would depend on how the story would go

Its going to be more like action than horror
I think it’s going to be both. While we’re playing as a supernatural combatant, I have a feeling that the enemies are going to be difficult to fight with a high learning curve. It’ll probably be an action game in a similar vein to Dark Souls, but with even more horror than that.
I don’t think a lot of us will ever get what we expect/want. Was hoping for more gritty style horror that makes me think about it when I’m not playing.
I know there are a lot who will love this for the style and action based gameplay.
I just find it hard to unnerved or moved by “horror” games if I can do flips and use swords and other such weapons.
Each to their own, I’m sure this will get heavy praise from those into this style.
This is nothing like Silent Hill and most likely they made that Silent Hill message at the start to make people watch this trailer and not just skip it.

It would have to be a spiritual successor instead of a direct sequel since this his new studio wouldn't have the rights for Gravity Rush, but that would still be really cool with a completely new setting and characters

The game is still supposed to have psychological horror. It seems like those parasites can be anyone you come across in the game. And the setting looks to be based off of a monster filled Kowloon, which would make for a very dark and similar setting to Silent Hill.
