That's why he killed his daughter because she disgraced him by going with an animal to use his words. He was the cause of the Lycans revolt and the war that started it because he used them, abused them and made them his slaves. Had he not done that the war wouldn't have started. Then to really put the cherry on top he enforced the rule of no feeding on humans but went out and gorged himself on human blood. He stupidly left Kraven in charge because Kraven knew his secrets that he couldn't allow to be public knowledge so he kept Kraven sweet by elevating him to a powerful position and it backfired. If he was smart he would have discretely fed on humans and made sure no one knew about it or just kept to the rule of animal blood only. Viktor was just a tyranical bully and eventually all tyrants are the cause of their own downfall and demise. Had he been intelligent he would have killed Selene, instead he let her live, turned her into a vampire sired by him personally which probably makes her incredibly strong than your average vampire, trained her as a death dealer knowing full well she was so dedicated to it because he lied that lycans killed her family and she made it her mission to wipe them out. He basically handed Selene the tools to take him out. On top of that he never wanted William to be free yet he knew Selene was the map to William's prison and that Tanis knew it as well yet he exiled him which in turn made Tanis develop UV weapons and sell them to lycans and Markus tracked him down to get the truth out of him. Viktor was fucking stupid and careless!

Viktor is the most exciting character in the Underworld Universe..Hes cruel..precise..a brilliant battle strategist...charismatic beyond compare and yet a most loving father. And he puts the survival of the species above all else. Without him, the species would have extinct..and there would be no Selene, Micheal, Eve..or all those boring characters. Bill Nighy is just an awesome actor.
But he is also a monumental hypocrite, racist, and in the process of putting the species ahead of anything else he murders his own daughter and treats any Lycan like dirt.
Victor was not the first vampire as they were all lead to believe it is Marcus who was the first vampire in history not Viktor and plus they tell u that in underworld evolution when viktor tells Marcus to retreat back to the forest so if Marcus dies the rest all dies with them

Viktor really dive headfirst into becoming a brutal vampire. I’m sure that since he was dying when he became one made him see his change as much more of a gift than others. This is probably why he’s so adamant about protecting their way of life

I really wish Viktor lived. He definitely should have had the fight with her due to differing principles concerning Michael, but I wanted him to stay alive and become a better leader for the coven. Like Vegeta in DBZ. Started out as an absolutely ruthless killing machine with no heart, opened his mind and developed a conscience, but for Lycans. I was really rooting for him.

I loved the first few underworld movies , gothic ,stylish and with some superb acting here from Bill Nighy ,def one of my fav scenes . Shame they lost something after the 2nd underworld.
Tbh, I love how he states, that the rules kept them alive this long and literally in like 6 to 15 years' time, human goes Jihad of both races when the rules are broken and the news is out.
Though I don’t like Viktor for how he treated Marcus and took command from him, I have to respect his respect for the chain, knowing it’s Marcus’ turn to rule and not wanting to supersede him because he respects the cycle.
I really wish they delved more into the other Elders' back stories. Lot of questions left unanswered in this franchise. Would love a prequel centered around Alexander Corvinus and how he became the first immortal and how he created the first Vampire Marcus and first Lycan William.
Well, after watching this part of the movie again, I have come to a realization. This whole debacle could've been avoided altogether had Viktor decided to bite Selene and sort through her memories firsthand. Doing this, he could've confirmed Selene's suspicions were true.
@Johnathon Davis because Marcus was a hybrid at that point so Marcus either drained Tanis at that point or the Lycan strain from that bite killed him or perhaps Tanis was in a state of shock which mirrored death.

Marcus only turned into a vampire cause he was bitten by a bat and mutated his corvinus genes making him the first vampire. Also his brother william got bitten by a wolf which made him a lycan that can never revert back to his human form. They also had a brother who is mortal but still had the mutated genes and was passed on to michael who turned to a hybrid. That's why marcus turned to a hybrid. A direct descendant or someone wo holds the pure gene of the corvinus will garanteed to become a hybrid.
My favorite scene in the whole movie! I find myself sayin this whole scene to myself sometimes, lol. I see that alotta people think that scoff he does when Selene kneels to him (0:06) is random but its not. The look on his face explains it. He did it cuz he didnt want her to kneel to him..like sayin she didnt need to cuz he treated her like his daughter. Well before she (Sonja) decided to betray him with Lucian ;-)
That's interesting because I thought he expected her to show her loyalty. (Thus his stern look before she kneels.) After she does he softens his insistence on protocol to show her his paternal side. Viktor was a noble even before he was turned, so fealty toward status is expected regardless of who you are...
I know the Academy never considered it, but Nighy deserved a supporting actor nomination for this role. At the theater when he character was awakened... jaws dropped. His acting was light years ahead of anyone else in the movie and you could feel the change in "gravitas: immediately.
They should have never replaced the guy who played the original Michael in the serie...Fans loved the original Michael and the romantic relation he started to develop with Selene.....
The thing was, Scott Speedman wanted more creative control over the character of Michael but the directors weren't having it hence he abandoned the role after the second film plus he got other opportunities.
Can not get enough of Viktor got all the films on my hard drive but so many clips exist on the internet of all my favourite movies. it is easier to watch youtube for memory then start digging through my terrabyte of HD space.

The first time Id ever seen Bill Nighy was when I went to the cinema to see this movie. Straight away, I knew he was an incredible actor

I really wish Viktor lived. He definitely should have had the fight with her due to differing principles concerning Michael, but I wanted him to stay alive and become a better leader for the coven. Like Vegeta in DBZ. Started out as an absolutely ruthless killing machine with no heart, opened his mind and developed a conscience, but for Lycans. I was really rooting for him.

Tell her u love her like a daughter and tell her with sympathetic emotion why the covenant survived this long' then immediately flip da switch and tell her she won't be shown an outfit ce of leniency and she must be judged ha ha Ha ha ha . I don't think I've ever witnessed a better script
I loved the first few underworld movies , gothic ,stylish and with some superb acting here from Bill Nighy ,def one of my fav scenes .

Tbh, I love how he states, that the rules kept them alive this long and literally in like 6 to 15 years' time, human goes Jihad of both races when the rules are broken and the news is out.
Though I don’t like Viktor for how he treated Marcus and took command from him, I have to respect his respect for the chain, knowing it’s Marcus’ turn to rule and not wanting to supersede him because he respects the cycle.
He is amazing. He is so versatile.
I really wish they delved more into the other Elders' back stories. Lot of questions left unanswered in this franchise. Would love a prequel centered around Alexander Corvinus and how he became the first immortal and how he created the first Vampire Marcus and first Lycan William.
Well, after watching this part of the movie again, I have come to a realization. This whole debacle could've been avoided altogether had Viktor decided to bite Selene and sort through her memories firsthand. Doing this, he could've confirmed Selene's suspicions were true.

@Johnathon Davis because Marcus was a hybrid at that point so Marcus either drained Tanis at that point or the Lycan strain from that bite killed him or perhaps Tanis was in a state of shock which mirrored death.

Bill Nighy is outstanding playing Victor in this Underworld Universe.
In case anyone missed it ... this is the same guy that played Davey Jones in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
He was a treacherous vampire ass, but then again he had to be to keep his peeps under control.
Its a crime this man didnt get big till well into his 50s. Phenomenal actor.

Viktor may be wise, but without being awoken he would've been dead along with Marcus if the Lycans had attacked during their weaken rule. Also Viktor was very interesting, Bill Nighy your acting will be remembered as the best I seen so far. Pirates of the Caribbean, Under world were my favorite.

@@cautarepvp2079 you got a point about the sealed tomb. But marcus is the son of alexander corvinus, the first immortal. He's not a vampire or lycan tho. Marcus only turned into a vampire cause he was bitten by a bat and mutated his corvinus genes making him the first vampire. Also his brother william got bitten by a wolf which made him a lycan that can never revert back to his human form. They also had a brother who is mortal but still had the mutated genes and was passed on to michael who turned to a hybrid. That's why marcus turned to a hybrid. A direct descendant or someone wo holds the pure gene of the corvinus will garanteed to become a hybrid.

I see that alotta people think that scoff he does when Selene kneels to him (0:06) is random but its not. The look on his face explains it. He did it cuz he didnt want her to kneel to him..like sayin she didnt need to cuz he treated her like his daughter. Well before she (Sonja) decided to betray him with Lucian ;-)
That's interesting because I thought he expected her to show her loyalty. (Thus his stern look before she kneels.) After she does he softens his insistence on protocol to show her his paternal side. Viktor was a noble even before he was turned, so fealty toward status is expected regardless of who you are...
I know the Academy never considered it, but Nighy deserved a supporting actor nomination for this role. At the theater when he character was awakened... jaws dropped. His acting was light years ahead of anyone else in the movie and you could feel the change in "gravitas: immediately.
He even sounds a bit like Kain. Sick.

They should have never replaced the guy who played the original Michael in the serie...Fans loved the original Michael and the romantic relation he started to develop with Selene.....
The thing was, Scott Speedman wanted more creative control over the character of Michael but the directors weren't having it hence he abandoned the role after the second film plus he got other opportunities.
