Since 1979 I have never found the ideal bag.
This is an ongoing joke between myself and my photographer friend. There is no such thing as “one ideal bag.” You literally need different bags for various uses; a small bag for travel, medium bag for portrait shoots, large bag for a wedding, a rolling bag for videography, a hard case for flying, a cool looking bag for the times you want to show off 😂😂 How many bags should you own? The answer is YES!

Dude, just got the Shimoda X50, I think at least for myself the search is over.
Curious if you were able too how would you design a camera bag, that would be the most useful and well thought out storage wise, accessibility wise etc. ?
lol like you had many Lower Pro , think Tank are good.... But my latest and best is the Shimoda v2 explorer. (35litre) designed to fit in all over head plane bags and it does spent two months in europe recently and many flights...never questioned once....took sony gear a7r4+a74 , 100-400 GM , 16-35gm, 14mm Gm, 24-105 g and still had heaps of room...bloody best bag I had so far.
Any chance you got to compare it to the 30 l? I'm trying to decide which one to get.

$699, ouch. That’s an expensive bag. But it looks big and well thought out. Seems that top compartment might be useful for personal stuff, not camera stuff. Eg food and snacks when out in a job?

Actually it really boggles my mind why the perfect camera bag, tripod, camera, lightning, etc has not been developed yet with all the technology and ingenuity we have today 😂😂😂... I've been looking at the Tenba AXIS V2 line... I will be traveling to Japan in May for vacation. I don't own a laptop - wondering if you knew of a solution that I could just bring some SSD's to backup too (not having a laptop)?
if your camera has dual card slots just buy more cards . I never take a lappy overseas ...just lots of sd cards....
Yeah I think bag companies don't make the perfect all in one bag so you continue buying multiple bags. Just like camera companies, they make the perfect mirrorless camera for video but leave out some photo essentials so you can buy another camera.
