He's just relating his thought process, and he's totally aware of the awkward line between using your own experiences (the death of his mother, which would elicit a very complicated reaction; sadness, suffering, emotional exhaustion, emptiness and self-loathing, and whatever trauma their relationship might have had) to write a movie that can be more universally shared. Quite an intelligent man, no doubt. I'd boink him, and I'm straight.

If you want to speak like a native, you need to adopt an accent away from your own, the same way it's obvious someone is a foreigner when they speak English with their normal voice: it's because they haven't changed from their native accent. Viggo is REALLY a wonderful and down to earth human being. I've met him personally and was pleasantly surprised by his calm, accommodating and friendly demeanor. Especially, since I was actually that gushing fan that interrupted his dinner with his friends (oops!). He was absolutely cool about it and provided his autograph and even wrote a personal sentence. I've met some other celebrities as well who couldn't care less about "normal people". Viggo (and Drew Carey) were the only exceptions in my experience. Multi-talented and humble! This is definitely not to denigrate all those second/third (etc/) units were doing, but all their work had to dowvetail into the overall conception. Whatever. It still stands up as a monumental accomplishment in the world of film, and one wonders... Could anyone else have done it?

My first thought. Hopefully since he speaks so many languages and is a writer & well read his brain power will prove to prevent dementia. It would be great if expanding ones knowledge is the prevention. Singing & playing music last longer than any other memory destroyed by dementia, which weirdly leaves me hopeful that prevention may be discovered. My family that have had Alzheimer’s were very intelligent, achieved top in their chosen fields and readers but not voracious & only spoke/read one or two languages. It’s such an awful loss, for everyone who knows the afflicted. It really is the long good bye!
