  • In this video on selecting a rifle scope, we dive into the details on what rifle scope to buy, what rifle scope numbers mean, and the process to go through narrowing down selecting a rifle scope.
Here in part 1 of our 4 part series on selecting a rifle scope, we look at finding your starting point, and deciding what size, magnification and features you might need, depending on what type of hunting or shooting you plan to do. Whether you are looking for the best rifle scope for elk, long range shooting, targeting shooting, or deer hunting, having the appropriate magnification, features, and specs can make a big difference.

Why when i keep buying rifle scopes for my rifle it stops zeroing? Is it because i didnt choose the perfect scope for my rifle or is the scope made for other rifles and why when i zero my scope it wont go bullseye in the crosshair it just stops clicks

Hey there! There are a number of reasons why your scope isn't returning to zero. Could be the scope itself (unfortunately this isn't that uncommon in less expensive scopes). It could be that you sighted the rifle in with a fouled barrel, then cleaned it, and with a clean, cold bore, your POI will be different until the barrel fouls back up. Obviously make sure you are shooting the same ammo as a different load will affect your POI greatly. Hard to say for sure, but a quality scope should return to zero, and if it's not, that could potentially be a warranty issue with the manufacturer. Hope that helps!

Had to quit watching the video; too much jargon with no training aids. Seeing an array of long guns and scopes with very little talk on how to identify features amongst them. Sorry...
