- At 3 years post-op from having the erectile implant pump device fitted, as the final stage of my transgender RFF phalloplasty surgery. I update about how I am getting used to having an implant and gaining confidence using the erectile device on my own and during intimacy. I also talk about concerns with the lifespan of the erectile device, and worries about the waiting lists at St Peters' Andrology clinic here in the UK who perform phalloplasty, when it comes to needing the erectile implant device fixed or replaced.

Having a Trans brother, I can understand your struggles, what with the invasiveness of phalloplasty! I can empathise to a certain extent, obviously not that much, but I looked after my Bro for 6 weeks, as anyone who's had it done knows it's a long and arduous process to heal and get used to. I only say this as I have always had enormous respect for any transgender person who has to go under the knife to get the body that feels right to them mentally... 😁
When people ask about lower surgery I te them how it works and then say I will never need viagra when I get old. 😅 let's say some blokes are very jealous.
Aint that the truth!! Its all to easy to focus on what we dont have, but with phallo, we have a lot of extras that cis folks don't have!

Damn, such a short shelf life on that implant. Sounds well worth it though. Also sounds like after you get one you should just make an appointment for it breaking the next day if the wait times are that bad in the UK O.o

You're so educational finn, i have no need to really learn all of this but i want to support those in the T section of our community. I hope you dont mind me asking but when you say the bone grows over the anchor, when you get it replaced how do they like get it out of the bone? Sorry if thats too personal x
Its also kind of crazy they discharge you from the gender clinic, with something like a phalloplasty or hormones which need regular checks or 'maintence' you would think they would look after you long term :(
I have a friend that I talk with frequently about my transition, (she has an extensive medical background, including a master's in psychology)
and she explains so much about cis men having a relationship with their penises, and that transmen have to take the time to develop one too. I feel sooo fortunate and blessed to have her in my life.
Thank you Thoran, you are incredibly kind and I really value your allyship. Regarding the anchor point. That gets attatched to the pubic bone, and its the attatchment that the bone then heals around. If an entire pump needed to be fixed, then I assume it would just be detatched from that anchor point and a new pump attached. And I agree, the system here, of discharging people, makes no sense! There are many times when having the expertise of a gender clinic would help, but as Im no longer a patient, I cannot request their help! We need an entire system overhaul!!!

This was so interesting. And you seem like such a cool guy! ☺️ I’m here because I’m learning about penile implants. Only 37, male from birth, hetero, just had a lot of trouble with ED. At the point where I’m fed up. But I’m assuming you got an AMS or Coloplast. You should be reassured that the standard life for the vast majority is >8 years. I’m surprised that only one centre can tend to these issues for you. That’s so annoying! Could someone expert in the field such as Dr David Ralph not help? I’m sorry for my ignorance. But all the best to you!!

Dr Ralph is one of the surgeons who does lower surgery for trans people. The trouble is, there are huge waiting lists at the moment. Im hoping my device lasts a long time, and that by the time I need it replaced, the waiting lists will be shorter!

Yes I have the AMS 700 MS, the lifespan can be anything from 5 to 10 years, the lifespan is improving with each model as the materials improve. But with the waiting lists and everything else....it absoultely does suck! Ive just made an update actually! czcams.com/video/Ky6gxn8aSdo/video.html
I'm personally much more interested in the inflatable device than the constant rod. my only question is about how long it stays erect. I would be so worried that it would pump up than only stay for a few seconds, that's an issue I have using a pump+pre op parts.
I felt the same way about the rod. As for how long the pump stays inflated, as long as you want! Ive never experienced it becoming deflated until I push the button. Hope that helps!
I've been trying to research why Drs only use fat/tissue/skin for phallo when cismales have muscle there also. And seems I read somewhere that there is another vital part missing but I can't find that article again. Grrrr.
Any thoughts on why more isn't done to actually replicate function and not just aesthetics?
Hey my friend. There is no muscle in a penis, but there is erectile tissue, which unfortunately cannot be replicated yet, but I have seen reports that they are trying to do this. There have been experiments with cis men to repair/ transplant erectile tissue, but it would be so much more difficut with a phallo penis, one day they will do it though! www.phallo.net/penis-transplants.htm

Hi Finn. When your device breaks you Have to get re referred to the gender clinic ? You can’t just get referred straight for surgery?
Hi my friend. No I wont need a referal to a GIC just a referral for surgery, but the list is long! Im not sure I would get it repaired now to be honest!
@@FinnTheInfinncible The system needs a serious overhaul. How can there be 1 hospital in a country of 66 million people. Hopefully things improve before you need to take that step
@@stonesdon I completely agree my friend. That's why I share about this, it needs to be acknowledged how much pain and distress our broken system causes, and what a huge difference it makes to our quality of life when we can access surgery in a timely manner
Finn why don’t you just book to have a consultation now, whilst it’s still working, then by the time you finally get an appointment the chances are it will likely need replacing? Xxx
It's a good idea in theory, but there is no way of knowing when this device will fail! I am however going to contact them as the service is being changed and I want to make sure I'm still on their list for when I do need to have a consult
