Take over the years
Throwback to the last great diesel fleet of SEPTA that lived with all of us from childhood to adulthood, as well as the last of the 5000 series buses after the NABIs started and ended with #5001-5400 and started with the New Flyers #5401-5950. I'll do a dedication to the 2002-2004 DE40LFs #5601H-5612H & #5831H-5850H soon.

An era ended for SEPTA this year. 40 foot diesel buses are retired completely from passenger service but not forgotten about. The only all diesel-powered buses that remain at SEPTA now are the MiDi 30s. 5613 is preserved for now as the safety bus and thus remains the only 40 foot diesel bus at SEPTA. I last saw 5613 in front of SEPTA headquarters when they held the career fair in late summer of 2023. I will always remember riding the 5600 and highest numbered 5700 diesels on the 22 as well as the 2004 diesels on other select routes. I rode the 8000 diesels many times on Frontier routes with fondest memories on the 94 and 96 routes. I’ll always remember the 8000 diesels kicking up speed on the 96 while traveling on DeKalb Pike

We started from the DD50’s to end with isl’s and ZF. 2000-2024. (2010’s were the rebuild with the 03’s and 04’s if yall wanna count that as I do.)

I'm praying they'll bring at least one of these buses to the rodeo and hopefully it'll be one of the 5400s. I want to have an experience of the Allison and Detroit.
