Jason is so excited to host SNL, he and The Muppets sing about it. Unfortunately, the Muppets are misinformed about how the night will go. Aired 11/19/11

Kermit has the best comebacks.
_It makes sense they'd pick Jason to host the show, Piggy. You know when people go to a Muppet movie, people say "GEE! I can't wait to see the human!"_
I love to see the Humans in a Muppet movie. There have been some great humans acting in those. I can't say with 100% accuracy who some of them were. Except Tim Curry, he had great chemistry with Angel Marie, Old Tom, Real Old Tom, Blind Pew and Spotted Dick!
@@GreenMetalicDevil vb
@@GreenMetalicDevil and let's not forget Michael Caine!
He's right too
That’s what I say about Muppet movies too. XD
I love how the crowd reacted for the muppets.
Everyone's a mature adult until the Muppets show up. 🥰

I would like to see the Muppets host SNL
After the jim henson incident in wich the muppets basically hosted they will never let the muppets host again
Have I got the show for you...
Two words. “Mucking Fuppets”.
@@sjucbackup - I think what OP is referring to is the fact that, during the first season of SNL, Lorne Michaels contracted Jim Henson to produce some segments for SNL, and for whatever reason the SNL writing staff simply didn’t get Henson’s love of silliness and the outlandish and imaginative tongue in-cheek humor, and so they consciously tried to sabotage every one of his segments and get him off the show.
It’s kinda like when Milton Berle hosted, but turned on its head. Berle didn’t get SNL’s wry style of humor, and so he filled the show with old-school asides and spit-takes and ended his episode with a schmaltzy ballad, and it was so terrible the show’s never been aired again. He thought he was doing something better than the show he was “too good” to be on, but all he did was prove he was a dinosaur, and he ruined his own episode.
So conversely, the SNL writers thought they were too hip for the Muppets - that puppets were childish or something - and because they didn’t get the Muppet’s distinctly weird new style of humor, the SNL writers hated it and tried to torpedo those segments. And so those segments did turn out awfully, but Henson was later vindicated when _The Muppet Show_ was a runaway ratings success. He was likely too nice a guy to have felt “avenged” or anything, but clearly the ‘75/‘76 SNL writers were the ones who didn’t get it.
I mean, compare any season of the Muppets to, for instance, SNL during some of its worst periods, like the Piscopo years or the Sandler years, and it’s clear Henson had nothing to be embarrassed about: his troupe could hold their own. Maybe his style would never have meshed with SNL’s, but watch any episode of _The Muppet Show_ and you’re guaranteed to for-real laugh out loud at least once, if not several times per episode.
Never imagine you’re too good for something, when in fact it may be you who doesn’t quite understand, I guess is the lesson here.
Wasn't there a grassroots effort to get Cookie Monster to host the show a few years ago?
At 6:18 to the left is Sarah from the late 2000s-early 2010s Collegehumor. Many of you won’t know who that is, but she was pretty funny and I’m really happy she ended up being so successful as a writer on SNL. It must be insane to go from an internet comedy channel to working on an episode of SNL with the Muppets.
Streeter Sidell is also writing for SNL.
@@jeffbrehove2614 You mean Eater Piefell?

@@graceannemorgan1035 Jim Henson had a returning skit in season one and Jim didn’t like that he didn’t get to write the skits and the Snl writers didn’t think Jim can do stuff for an older crowd since this was wend he was doing Sesame Street a lot and think that muppets were for kids
@@whoisthis3675 oh, thankyou for letting me know.
Well, Muppets used to be on SNL but it didn't work out.
Rowlf and Fozzie's dance is enchanting
Just listened to mulaney on conan’s podcast and he said he wrote a joke for miss piggy, “pigs can fly / first class” and i immediately knew it was from this! One of my favorite monologues ever. Fun to know mulaney worked on it!
Not surprised, Marshall always sings what he’s doing
Jason really said he was better suited to host a variety show than KERMIT THE FROG.
I am so painfully in love with him
I haven't seen one thing with him in it that I disliked

Kermit the frog is not single sorry
Steve was so good with Kermit. Shame he got fired.
A total shame,Jim Henson is going to be very dissapointed from Heaven
OMG! This had me laughing!
Is it werid I would be so excited to meet the Muppets "in person"? Love this skit!
This guy is great. He should be used more by Directors and Filmmakers. 👍
Even Statler and Waldorf made an appearance, cool!
And surrounded by an oblivious mute audience.

The Muppets are so great still till this day!

Either that, or they have never been to Northampton, Massachusetts. 😛
Why is jason segal so good at everything he does?
Did You know Jim Henson used puppets on SNL in like the 70s but Jim and writers had creative differences.
No kidding. They weren't creative.
I love that Kermit has perfect pitch
I love that over all these years, the humans that worked with the muppets still refer to them as if they're real....
You mean they aren't? 😞
The lyrics from the backup singers cracked me up. 😂
OH MY GOD I DIDNT KNOW THAT JASON SEGEL HOSTED SNL
Gonzo is so hilarious!
"We knew Lorne Michaels back when he still said 'a-boot'." As a Canadaphile, that is a hilarious joke.
Why haven’t the muppets hosted SNL, or at least Kermit ?
Because of jim hensons screw up last time

I can’t believe they’re hosting SNL
wow,one of the best monologues that I have ever watched, LOVE it, Love Muppets

An edition of SNL that was truly entertaining!

Kermits Ray Romano was spot on

MUPPET 1: "Hey Jason! How's Alyson Hannigan..."
JASON: "Oh, she's great!"
MUPPET 1: "You know, this one time, at band camp, I served as a dust cover for an oboe..."
MUPPET 2: "If you think about it, it's not that far off from her st--"
JASON: "OK, MOVING ON..."
Back when Kermit's voice wasn't weird AF.
Before Steve Whitmire was fired.
I think Jason forgot that the Muppets had their own variety show when he was still in diapers. It would be fun to see them make more cameos on SNL.
I’m sure it was just a joke for TV. He’s as big a Muppets fan as anyone. He wrote the Muppets move that he was in
AWESOME.
Kermit: That's what you call a bouncy B-Flat.
I'm surprised these Muppets even mentioned the Land of Gorch, since the first SNL writers hated writing for that recurring sketch.
Jason Segel my beloved
I saw Peter Linz and Matt Vogel in the crowd, other muppeteers
And Dave Rudman
When ARE they going to have the Muppets host? That'd be a great thing to see.
1975: Muping fucpets
2011: playing piano with Jason Segel
jason's my dude, love this guy, made him smile with my puppets on dispatches. did the same harassing everyone on snl 2x. put officer popo and bock burgundy or omg becky on snl in a skit ;)

Oh he made an amazing show called Dispatches from Elsewhere recently!
Zoom in and around. I am going
Wait a sec... how do they have both Piggy and Fozzie speaking in the same live sketch? Aren't they both performed/voiced by the same puppeteer, Eric Jacobson?
They could have a tape recorder and have another puppeteer hold Fozzy.
Peter Linz puppeteered Fozzie. Eric could have done the voice live
