Awesome update - just what's needed during the build season
Great video and thank you. I've been fling ArduPilot for years now and Its nice to get a refresher on all the modes.
Thanks for this. I'm an experienced ardupilot user and still learned some things about flight modes I haven't used before but will now look into more. Some of them have probably been added since I last read the documentation in detail.
This video is insightful easy to understand on a topic that can seem daunting.
Great video. Thanks for sharing the information. Really very helpful.
Thank you! You’re explanation is amazing
Thank You !! This was one of the big questions ( plus about 12,283 others ) I had with my Hee Wing T1 Ranger VTol build .... Thanks again
I'll cover that in the build. I expect to use QHOVER, FBWA AND RTL... Happy flying
Fantastic video, Lee! Thanks a bunch for the update! 😃
But, you know... I've been thinking... It could be fun to build a rover with a cheap rc crawler as base. Like a WPL or perhaps something bigger. 🤔
Anyway, stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
And happy new year!
Stabilize
Acro
Manual
Cruise
Auto
RTL
Acro is my favorite after cruise:)
The wiki has come leaps and bounds in the last 2 years! It use to be vastly behind releases but not now!! USE IT
Takeoff for plane is immensely useful for getting the bird up and circling while you find a seat and get the goggles on. I use it for every flight.
Thanks, Lee! That is very helpful. Especially your personal experience, preferences and comments. Even finding these pages in the Arduplane docs is not easy. (Search for "flight modes" and you get about a million hits, most of which are on the Complete Parameter List page, not very helpful.) So thanks for the links.
You are welcome! Glad it helped!
Great idea 👍
For a beginner, remember you only use what you want to use, you may only have Man,Stab, RTH. But thats the great thing its totally customiseable. It can be simple or complex as you need.
wow thank you.
@Painless360 Sport mode was quietly deprecated in new versions unfortunately.
I find ACRO is most useful for cruising actually. Once I'm some place I want to do tight technical maneuvering I usually switch to a stabilized/angle mode. I'm not a great stunt pilot.
Very helpful - thanks!!! For Plane, how important is PID tuning using Autotune? Vital, or are the stock PIDs pretty close for most planes?
See my video on it. I always do a tune.. Happy flying
Ardupilot stock tune is way better than iNav IMO, but there's a tendency for it to be sluggish (slow response). Autotune will get it really dialed in to fly stable and with authority.
Thanks for the great explanation. I am using ardupilot with a fixed wing aircraft. And I have the problem that after the radio connection is interrupted, the mode is not switched back from RTL mode to the previously set mode when there is reception again. What can be the reason for this? Only when I then (with reception) manually change the mode, the FC recognizes the change and sets the default mode.
That is how it's set to work.. see ardupilot.org/copter/docs/radio-failsafe.html
"Test #4 : retaking control after the failsafe has cleared continuing on from test #3, turn your transmitter back on while the flight mode is still in RTL or LAND and armed, change the flight mode switch to another position and then back to stabilize mode. Ensure that the flight mode displayed on the Failsafe page is updating appropriately."
How to map on RC6 CH flight mode change? Thank you
See my Pixhawk 2023 series where I show how I setup stuff like that. Best of luck
Wonder where "Althold" went!
any mode what uses an airspeed meter? Would like to put this on my 4 meter scale glider
AUTO And CRUISE are the main ones. See ardupilot.org/plane/docs/airspeed-parameters-setup.html
@@Painless360 thx Lee
If I want to use more flight modes than my 6 position switch can use, what are my best options?
Check out czcams.com/video/KZz-Y-u-boo/video.html where I show an option... Happy flying
hey when the aircraft is in our hand and in takeoff mode, the motor runs. however, when switching to other modes, the motor stops. When we try to start directly in loiter mode or other modes, the motor doesn’t run at all. sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. do you have any idea
You can't arm in some modes... I'd start in FBWA... See my builds and the docs for details.
@@Painless360 how can i reach for your builds and docs
Please see this video - czcams.com/video/P4soR6QgOk0/video.html - that should help you find those videos of mine and help you find the answers you need quickly
Is there an equivalent of headless mode?
See simple and super-simple in the docs. Best of luck
