I think of him more as a lesser deity.. I find it difficult to believe that a mere mortal could keep turning out the content I see on this channel. I don't rule out something like radioactive spider bite however.
I love the straight to the point golden nuggets (no dialogue needed)! I like your videos because they are for intermediate & advanced musicians. Appreciate all your wisdom professor🙂.
BROOOOO this is absolutely insane. My goodness. Your tutorials are literally THE BEST ones ive ever seen. Its SO GOOD man the content is so good, you've laid it out perfectly with examples and exercises. SOOO GOOD for intermediate to advanced players, youre giving us MAJOR tools with these videos man. Please do keep them up and resume making them you are freakin awesome dude.
Outstanding video! Hey Stijn, you get the Golden CZcams Award for Best Piano Instruction Site. Sorry, there's no trophy or money for all your hard work. All you get is the praise and appreciation of all the piano players out there who love your playing, and your fantastic videos.
So excited to watch how to play block cords and even if i am a beginner of jazz piano player i can't stop to see, listen and absorp this splendid masterclass; thank you Stijn for this opportunity to watch your lesson of jazz.
THANK YOU so much for your generosity and organized teaching/inspration!" These "exercises" are great music in themselves, and are the building blocks so much endless more. Your playing here and elsewhere is so great !
Such a great lesson ! Thank you so much! you are the best teacher I've ever met, can you consider to do another tutorial about drop 2? I really appreciate that. 🙏
You are an awesome teacher and musician! Thank you for all that you do.You have helped my playing so much throughout this year with all of your great lessons and pdfs. Happy holidays!
Very great! Thank you so much! I am from Haiti! There is no school of Jazz in my country. But you really help me to go forward! I consider you my teacher!
Bij de laatste oefening eindig je soms op een volledig akkoord in de RH, en soms op een enkele noot? Is dit omwille van de haalbaarheid in sommige toonaarden? Of eerder een ad lib keuze? Geweldige shizzle trouwens!
Merci, Rogier! Idd bij de laatste oefening laat ik dat laatste akkoord soms weg, vooral vanwege de tessituur (soms te laag), maar soms ook random, en af en toe omdat het technisch niet altijd evident is..! :-)
I know, block chords are really hard to execute! I worked on them for quite a while, but once you get the basic inversions in your fingers it becomes easier to improvise with them.. Good luck! :-)
Hi, you can find the download links to the pdf files in the description box underneath the video. But here are the links too: pdf file: bit.ly/3HWYKb8 pdf file with annotations: bit.ly/32zqDFT When you click these links, the download should start immediately. Hope it works!
I am trying to move to RH harmony. Could you please post an exercise in each key treble clef keeping the melody note on top. I created one EG C, EG#C EGAC EGBbC EbGBbC EbGbBbC EbGbAC (C,C+,C6,C7,Cm7,Cm7b5,Co). A perfect exercise would add 1 harmony note then 2 with the goal of learning to voice chords in the right hand keeping the melody note on top. Thank you for all of your efforts.
Hi, looks like a great exercise! I will definitely try this in different keys, and look for standards to apply this concept. Great! Thanks for sharing this exercise!
@@StijnWauters Stijn, thank you for your reply. My situation is a bit unusual. I am an adult who is serious about improving. I taught myself to read but cannot sight read at or near tempo. I can play tunes from the American songbook, melody RH harmony LH because the inversion used is not critical. Right hand voicings sound more rich and if I had an exercise that added the most used harmonic voices as dyads then triads It would be easier to learn. For example in Key of C- EC AC BbC then triads EGC FAC .. In C F Bb Eb G would be great to start. The goal is to easily read & play chords treble clef keeping melody note on top. I started to learn “Notion” on an ipad to make my own but your exercises are better. You included one exercise with C on top of page 2 of your 6 Great “Block Chords” exercises-THE BASICS: INVERSIONS IN THE KEY OF C. -C6 Ebo Dm7 Ebo C6. This is the best I could find anywhere.!!!! I am a great learner, a physician in real life and with an easier exercise would be able to reach your wonderful exercises. This is very important to me as I am trying to move to RH harmony & melody. I am happy to pay or if a resource exists could you please share it. Thank you again for your wonderful teaching.
Hello Stijn, great stuff ! Exercice #2 is not Barry Harris, but rather Oscar... you can ear it very exactly on last seconds of his "I love Paris" version..(let's give credit where credit is due)🙃 4'13 czcams.com/video/2ujgyRJhnMQ/video.html
