  • CSX trains travel through the Cumberland Narrows and along Will's Creek, as seen from 1,000' above at the top of the gorge in 1988, with the Capitol Limited, EB Coal off the Keystone Sub, and WB Intermodal Train R135 with WM 6573. Good Radio Transmissions are heard.

I watched many trains from the other side. I think you can see more of the track from the Haystack side. If you go out by the water tank By Bishop Walsh High School. you can see up the track about 1 1/2 miles and you can see all the way through Cumberland. Nice Video.

the capitol limited is used as a chicago to dc pipeline for deadheading locomotives and passenger cars.
back in the 80's you would see aem7's on it all the time.

Amazing to see a circus scheme paint job still in service in 1988. Too bad the original Wild Mary got sucked up into the Chessie system and eventually and unfortunately CSX.

where were the amtrak engine shops at the time in 1988 that necessitated movements of amtrak electrics over sandpatch?

VERY weird that first Amtrak train would have an electric unit in its consist. Was it just being transfered or something?
