I just took my 572xp apart again. It would start, but not rev up. I put 5 psi of pressure on inlet and put it under water. It had a leaking seal between the carburetor body and the bottom attached butterfly valve assembly. I tightened it up and she runs great now. Great video, couldn't have fixed it without you!
Im on my second carburetor for my 572xp and I am thinking that im having this exact problem. Ive also pressure test the engine, it checks out, pressure test the fuel lines which also check out. However when i do the vacuum test from the purge it bleeds rite off. Thanks for the great info, keep up the good work. 👍
Essentially you drive it in into the venturi. Use a punch and knock it right in there. It will come out. You reinstall it from the outside in the same manner. Notice first how deep it is sitting, and sometimes there is a small hole on the side that possibly should be orientated in some way, but probably not. The atomiser is the check valve.
I have a 550 M2 carb with that exact nozzle issue. Would be nice to know how to remove It and reinstall, and if i have to replace It where to find It, since It seems not to be on the 550 IPL.
Anthony, they have their place in the shop, but be careful, Too much time in the tank and the vibration will actually “weld “ parts together. Sounds hard to believe, but it was demonstrated at STIHL training in Virginia Beach. Usually no more that 15 min Max. WestCoastMuscleSaws TheChainSawGuy Rich

Thank you for the video. Mine would also not hold vacuum and help me diagnose why my saw was shutting off.

Great video.
Why do you think that problem with the new carb manifested only after 28min +- run time?
I am not clear why it leaked, if it needed a new one, and what part number if it does, or if it needed cleaned and re-installed?
The "purge " is that where the impulse line hooks up to. I got three lines on my carburetor but he is only talking about 2 ,
Will that test work with all the carbs ?
Hey Rich, could you please show us how to change one of these out of a bad carb? also what is the part number for this unit thanks you are the man :)

So, two bad carbs back to back? The first one failed after 70 some odd hours, the second in one day.
Yeah that's what I'm wondering, what it sounded like.

I found the vacuum pump , it looks to be a power probe vacuum /pressure pump , I just ordered one .
Do you recommend the saws with the smart carb?
No, no, no. I have 2 of them.
What brand vacuum pump is that ? It looks pretty sturdy .
You can order that tool from your STIHL dealer.
Would an ultrasonic cleaner help?
