golf ball trebuchet testing

- This golf ball trebuchet shoots 450 ft! The original requirements were (1) Shoot further than 100m, and 2) Fit in the back of a MINI Cooper, (preferably supercharged).

Current distance is about 138 meters into a slight headwind, and yes, it folds up like a deck chair and fits in the Cooper just fine.
This is moderately challenging to build, and should not be your first woodworking project without help.

presuming you mean the sling release, a loop was passed between the two fingers of a hitch pin clip angled about 40 degrees forwards of straight out.
@CBasement : Not yet, because my simulation doesn't support the arrangement, (though I've been working through the math). The advantage as I see it is that I can increase the angle travelled by the main arm during the throw, which ought to allow me to increase the counterweight mass.
i would love to build this and i totally agree to the terms also. i am going to make it for my AP Physics project.
Have you tried a whipper type sling arrangement with the ball starting on top of the arm instead of the trough?

you can get the design package if you agree to the normal two conditions. 1) You agree to not distribute the plans any further without my permission and 2) You let me know how building and testing go. Leave an email address and I'll send it over if you're OK with the terms.
