The reason the giant/defense targeting troops don't attack the cannon in the level 1 goblin campaign, is because the cannon is not classified as a defense in the game file, it isn't a levels 1 cannon and is actually weaker than one.

the inferno tower is really easy to drain, it stays up for 2 minutes until it runs out of fuel but if the defender doesnt log in for awhile it drains up mid attack in under 2 minutes

If a wall breaker gets spring trapped it only does it’s death damage, wall breakers attack the walls doing most of their damage and then do the extra death damage after. Regular ones have low death damage so it doesn’t do much
when i was finding multiplayer battles as a th9 i found a th10 which i attacked while attacking the 2 inferno towers and 1 xbow ran out of their fuel and ammunition so i guess it was pretty rare for that to happen (all of the traps and the 2 xbows had ran out of ammo and has been triggered)

there are more ways to destroy the clan castle without triggering troops, if u use air troops and clan castle only has ground reinforcements then they won't get triggered and won't come out then eventually getting destroyed

10 FYI I think it happens because the cannon in not actually a lvl 1 cannon, it does 2 do’s and has 250 hit points, therefore it is not classified as a defense

the inferno tower is really easy to drain, it stays up for 2 minutes until it runs out of fuel but if the defender doesnt log in for awhile it drains up mid attack in under 2 minutes

If an Eagle is charging up, about to fire, you can drop a Lightning on it and it will delay it slightly.
you can also break the clan castle without triggering the troops inside using the skeleton spell
