    Most EXCELLENT episode : Talisker 20y = there are 2 versions that came out at THE SAME TIME, you have the sample of Sherry . . . Back in late 1990 an early 2000, there aint no youTUBE and review books are limited to Jim Murray and Michael Jackson (without the glove). . . you are right: they don't make them as they did, boomy nose, darker wood, fresh casks, . . .THE SECOND Version is bourbon 58.8% vintage 1981 (sold for 250$ then reduced 2 x by LCBO to just 140-150 CAD$/bottles): back then ppl scoffed on the bourbon version (considered inferior, light, soft, not dark in colour, . . . ), so i scooped up 2 cases . . . 2,000+ UKP = wow ! . . . let me open bottle 4 of 12 . . . 8 left, sadly. Cheers !
    NB : [[ remember, back then we had Blackkader LONGMORN 25y, James MACARTHUR GLenTAUCHERS 24y, Signatory ROSEBANK-18 and CRAGGANMORE-16y all cask strength/NCF + other indies for same price - or less ! ! . . . . that era is over.]]

      This is just incredible extra info Timothy!! Well done on the Talisker. Likely more like their current regular bottles. Ugh I remember thinking back in the day, hey I can get a fancy old bottle for 2-300 bucks. Now that’s 15 year old - 18 year old stuff!!
      Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃

    Pfeffernusse! 😂🤣
    Also known as peppernuts...
    Have to say, I've not met a wormtub whisky yet that I don't thoroughly enjoy. None of this particular lot are available here, but any Talisker I've tried has been darned nice stuff.
    Very much appreciated the blending segment. I've done a fair amount of that, and have managed to elevate a few pretty awful whiskys to something far greater than the sum of their parts!
    Heading out first thing tomorrow for the East coast. Hope you have a fabulous weekend/week, up and coming!
    Cheers Mark 🥃😁🥃

    Fun experiment at the end. Great walk through the line. I have yet to fall in love with Talisker. Good whisky, but not something I hunt down right now. Cheers!

    Easily top 3 distillery for me. I love the 15 yo in particular. I almost get no peat from that one. Just very subtle, delicate flavours. And by some miracle, I bought these at LCBO for $120 each. Definitely monkeys spinning the price wheel, but to my benefit this time. Cheers from Canada's southernmost city, the best city starting with W 🥃🇨🇦

      Love that 15 but sad as it got fully drained at a club event!! 120 is crazy good price. Monkeys for sure….you got lucky!!

    Was able to snipe a bottle of the 15yo for £120~ shipping and taxes included, to give it to my father for Xmas. We’re both huge fans of everything talisker so far, so hopefully this one delivers extra, with it being cask strength 🙏 What is your favourite release in the talisker line? Cheers and great video 🥃

      Hi Hendrik, thanks for the comment and I’m glad to hear you got one for your father! Hope he pours you one of Christmas Eve! Dark Storm and 57° North are my faves. I got a 57°N at auction - hopefully my Christmas bottle! Cheers and Merry Christmas!

    I think I paid around $170 all in at the LCBO, not cheap but within reason for the overpriced Diageo releases.

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Před rokem +1

      Thanks Peter - Today that would be an OK price for a cask strength 15 year old! Funnily I found that one “in the wild” summer 2020 sitting on a shelf at a big supermarket in Seoul - slight nick in the foil but under lock and key. Drained the bottle at the club tasting…😭

    Btw, I recall you had a tasting of Macalonies peated darach braiche. What did you think of it? Would you say it was worth the Winnipeg, Centre of North America $123.43 plus taxes price tag?

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Před rokem

      It’s quite good - if it’s pricey it’s barely so and people are now chasing those bottles…
      Ardbeg 10 is better. But it’s not Canadian and you can’t compare - you’re buying a bit of history. But whether it’s worth it or not is a personal decision! Cheers bud🥃🥃🥃🥃

      @@WhiskyWhistle Great rundown. I actually don't like Ardbeg 10 anymore, my palate just gave up on it, so perhaps that will be beneficial towards the Darach Braiche, if I can find it! Yes, you're right, it seems to be the great chase as of late. Slainte!

    탈리스커 20년은 어떤 느낌인가요?

    • @WhiskyWhistle
      @WhiskyWhistle  Před rokem +1

      럭셔리 느낌! ㅎㅎ 탈리스커의 정체 그때로 있지만 더 깊고 더 다양한 더 복잡한 맛. 맛은 신선한 잘 익은 딸기와 산딸기 민트 그리고 한국 사우나 양치질 소금 ㅋㅋ
      81년 때 쉬리 오크통은 보통 쉐리 트랜스포트 캐스크였어요. 유러피언 참나무로 만든 캐스크였는데 숙성 왈요된 쉐리 가득 붓고 영국으로 보낸 통이었어요. 이제는 스페인이 유리병으로믄 쉐리 와인을 수출해요. 이런 쉐리 트랜스포트 캐스크가 좋은 쉐리 맛 강해서 유명했죠. Cheers🥃🥃🥃🥃
