@@ibimsmichi3367 That should be up to the players to decide. Sometimes ppl want to explore the maps and find hidden details/secrets. That is how ppl were able to figure out crazy shortcuts. Having walls limit gameplay and force gameplay to be too linear as it restricts ppl from being able to find a faster route

If you want a racing game where shortcuts are hidden instead of blatantly obvious then Mario Kart really ain't fitting that description.

Hard to pull off and somewhat secret shortcuts are not in the philosophy of the game design. Sure some levels have some pretty insane shortcuts due to developer oversight that make it extremely unfair when racing a player who is unaware and that does add “depth” But depth isn’t what Mario kart is about. If your looking for a game that’s easy to play but hard to master, Mario Kart is the wrong one

Having invisible walls that restrict your players movement and reduce creativity is really a groundbreaking track design that has never been seen before. I really hope they implement this in another tracks.
For real it's so narrow sighted when people unironically complain that they don't leave obscure ultra shortcuts in a multiplayer racing game. (Obviously the one here isn't as extreme.) Like imagine if a professional NASCAR driver ramped off a truck in a pit stop to get inside the center of the track, did some donuts, declared himself to have finished every lap, and people complained that the racing rules didn't allow that to count.
@@devinhenderson5765 there's no reason for nintendo to not put some actually visible obstacles instead of invisible walls, the longer shortcut LOOKS viable therefore it's fair to complain it not working when you meet the requirements to drive it, I get not wanting to make tracks too easy or whatever but there is not good reason to not put visible obstacles, they achieve the same effect invisible walls do without tricking players.

I bet QA found that and it was against the intended design so they added the barrier. QA is awesome. One time pre release of a MMO i was working on we decided to do a studio wide playtest. The devs thought they were the shit at playing the game. QA had other plans. They grouped up into a raid group and were like army ants, killing everything in their path. It was awesome because it showed the imbalance in the game. Lol then it was fixed and balanced.
They don’t like you getting too far ahead. Especially in computer races. I’ve lapped last place before but to conveniently get blue shelled and have last place bullet bill me from behind

Fact: this short cut and the one at the end of lap 1 in Vancouver were original made of rock/stone instead of grass, this was changed probably to me it necessary to use a mushroom to use them as in tour the auto driving don't let you take them without a boost
Looks like it's supposed to be LA but they actually filmed it in Canada. I don't see any drug addicts, gang members, or homeless people defecating in the streets. Also everything should be on fire.
