- The final wave of the booster course pass just released, with new tracks, new shortcuts, and new characters. Here's my first impressions and reaction to Funky Kong, Diddy Kong, Pauline, and Peachette, and the courses Tour Rome Avanti, GCN DK Mountain, Wii Daisy Circuit, Piranha Plant Cove, Tour Madrid Drive, 3DS Rosalina's Ice World, SNES Bowser's Castle 3, Wii Rainbow Road.

In case you were curious Diddy Kong is Donkey Kong's nephew, im almost entirely sure they did that so DK is literally a Monkey's Uncle. Funky Kong also isn't related to DK at all he's just a good family friend
Diddy hasn't been referred to as DK's nephew since Microsoft bought Rare. Now, he's referred to as DK's best friend and sidekick.

12:18 Pauline is around Rosalina's height if you can believe it (in Odyssey she towers over Mario). In Strikers she has more strength than both Bowser and Donkey Kong

Pauline and Rosalina are my top 2 favs (Rosa being my fav) So I'm glad I can play either one of them and not have to get use to new stats. Best feeling ever
in galaxy Rosalina towers over mario... so yes I would believe they're similar height
It's so awesome how these tracks from older games even have the bright and vibrant colors! The atmosphere of them alone makes me feel like I'm back in the 2000's!

One subtle thing I realised is that for the characters like yoshi and shy guy who have multiple colours, the small character selection screen icon will be the colour you last chose. Neat little detail I thought I’d share
And more subtle, Donkey Kong is always in pole position each time you go for a cup
Loved that! Also male/female inkling and villager have been combined to make room for the new dlc characters

16:08 People were making their guesses based on mainly 2 factors. 1: Back around the time of wave one (I think around then) there was a prefix leak, so people had a rough idea of which games all the courses would come from. The other factor is which courses made it into tour since most (if not all) of the courses are ported in from tour, so people could just make predictions on what was being added to that game.
Every course is indeed ported from Tour.
@@hylianro Yoshi's Island is also in Tour. Some of the new nitro courses came out in Tour and the Booster Pass roughly simultaneously, and other courses from Tour feel like they were designed with the Booster Pass in mind (like Bowser's Castle 3) but there's no course in the Booster Pass that's not also in Tour. That's why people think the BCP was created as a good way to get more use out of the Tour courses instead of just leaving them on a mobile game that's at the end of its life.
Yoshis Island has been in tours files lomg before it was added to 8 @hylianro

I didn't expect much from Peachette but she actually turned out to be my favourite character. Her voice just makes it sound like Peach is on drugs and i just find her voicelines so hilarious while playing. She is also really cute. Also, THEY NERFED BAGGING!!!
Also im pretty sure peachette shares the same stats as yoshi which means she's meta

As very likely the last update of Mario Kart 8 deluxe, I think this was a more than great send off! Fan favorites, a new track, and WII RAINBOW ROAD is more than a perfect set of content for me. I’ve also very much enjoyed watching your content for this last while I’ve been watching you, Shortcat! Your commentary, editing, and gameplay is really fun to watch and to this day I can call you one of my favorite CZcamsrs :3 Here’s to more MK8 memories ❤️

Wii rainbow road and 3DS rainbow Road being in the same mario kart game makes 8D objectively the best mario kart game

bought mk8DX just for the finished booster course pass, it's been a LONG time and i've mostly been playing F-Zero 99, so there was a lot of adjusting to be done. that said, i'm digging all of these courses!
i think SNES Bowser Castle 3 is really gonna shine during races. lots of split second decisions to look out for (going for the thin ramparts to get extra items, tricking off the thwomps at the end), really dynamic course!

Daisy has gotten a rare bit of love this year. First Daisy Cruiser, then Daisy Circuit, and she has become a playable character in a mainline Mario game for the first time with Mario Wonder.

This wave is so exciting dude, and yeah I was honestly not excited that they brought back daisy circuit instead of dry dry ruins from Wii but once I got to actually play it I LOVED it!

Diddy is an adult of a completely different species (as seen in DK. Jr) but it's weird because all of the Kongs share the same last name. Maybe they're a clan in the traditional sense of the word?

im from Spain and ive visited Madrid a lot of times now, this map is absolutely beautifull and full of references to the city I love it
I haven't had a chance to play it yet but im so excited. All these tracks look so good
This update is the biggest one yet, adding a soundtrack menu was cool now that it’s easier to listen to music in-game without the engine noises while driving. MK8DX has come a long way and while this was the last wave, it will always remain an amazing game for a long time.
Gotta comment on how awesome the trick animations are on the new cast! Pauline and Toadette were surprisingly great standouts.
Your nostalgia trip on Wii Rainbow Road was pretty much my response to Super Nintendo Rainbow Road and the F-Zero GX tracks.

Yeah, this was intentional. In Mario kart Wii, Funky Kong flame runner, as Shortcat said moments after the timestamp, was an absolute *menace.* if you didn’t play funky Kong you were playing Daisy and if you weren’t playing daisy… well, you’re throwing.
The fact that Wii rainbow road is in wave 6 is definitely gonna make me buy the game AND the dlc. Really good job on this video btw.

For some info peachette is toadette in disguise. In New super marios bros for nintendo switch there is an powerup specifically made for toadette when you play her called the peach crown and it basically turns toadette into a peach lookalike hence the pigtails indicating it's toadette
Those tracks are a trip on 200cc man, especially DK Mountain and Wii Rainbow Road

The fact that you meteor fall in rainbow road just like in the Wii and it’s the only exclusive fall animation in the game revived my entire childhood, I am definitely buying the entire thing now

It's funny I also really loved DK mountain in Wii and was secretly hoping for it to come to the DLC and it actually came and looks amazing!!! Don't know if there have been any balance changes but if so I would love to see a video on them, also featuring the most optimal combos for the new characters. I wanna go back to my Funky Kong main days but I still want to be optimal!!!
When I played funky for the first time I did the same thing, but I used sport bike because it has a similar shape to the flame runner and it's inside drift
This game can never run out of content in my opinion. There’s so many karts and characters and even outfits for characters that they can add😭

Yes, on Daisy Circuit the red and blue shells WILL travel on the sidewalk. I was playing with a friend today and was knocked off of the sidewalk on the final turn when the blue shell went to go hit him.
Funky Kong Flame Rider seems really good. It’s my main now
i think this might be my favorite dlc cuz that rainbow road is amazing i love the dk track but overall the tracks were all dope & funky kong/pauline are my new mains 😂

Your performance on Wii Rainbow Road was alright, but I remember seeing a certain CZcamsr solve SIX Rubik’s Cubes while also getting first place. Maybe one day you’ll be able to do something like that 🤔. Love your videos though keep up the good work!
You could do the double hoop jump shroomless on mario kart wii in Rainbow Road. To do it successfully you had to make sure you hit a trick off of the boost pad at the end of the wavy section. It's hard to go dead center shroomless in 8 deluxe but slightly to the left or right is still possible as long as you hold up on the stick when jumping.

For the gap jump on the ice map, you can do it without a mushroom and smart steering while landing safely, just have to get a good drift boost or two beforehand.

You make it possible for us to get more enjoyment out of the game by teaching us useful skills and creating a fun community, and your cheerful and funny commentary has drawn people to the game who otherwise wouldn’t have played it. I found an easter egg that’s so cute! The new Mii outfits has a new trick animation relating to that character 😆 I noticed it with Blooper so I tested it with the Castle and ? block outfit
The Baby Luigi and Baby Daisy statues are so cute.

They also added some new Mii racing suits, one for the daisy amiibo, and the others are simply unlocked immediately... I noticed something interesting while racing in the dolphin suit though: 1/15 of my tricks had a new dolphin-like trick alongside the default mii tricks... is this the same for the rest I wonder? Imagine if they update the Animal Crossing mii suit to use the villager tricks.
Edit: the best way to see the new tricks is to truck off the blue boost panels on DK Summit or any other track that has them.
As someone who lives in Madrid it's really cool to see such a funny track with so many iconic places. Great job Nintendo, I love it.
